This was a minor debate this weekend. I would like to know what other people think.
An invitation says that a wedding is at noon. What does that mean to you?
A.) Seating music starts at 11:30 so ceremony is at noon.
B.) Seating music starts at noon so ceremony is actually at 12:30.
C.) Other.

I take it as A. I feel like when it says it starts at noon, I am to be there before noon!

See, so do I. That only makes sense to me. But my MIL was finding fault with everything this weekend. She tried to complain to me, "Oh and now they're starting at noon and not 12:30!" *gasp* And I'm like, "But that's what the invite says, this isn't new. And she says that around here (Ohio) it means music starts at noon, not ceremony. So I figured I'd come to my girls to see what's what.

Pretty much your MIL is off her rocker.

Yeah if I got a wedding invite that says 12, I would assume that means that the bridal party will be walking down the aisle at 12.

Yeah, she is. And when I didn't agree with her she went on to say it was a regional thing. Glad to know I'm not crazy! haha

I'm a little confused by what you mean by seating music. But I agree with Deidre. You may have music playing before, like we had our violinist play music for the guests as they arrived and were waiting (is that what you mean by seating music). But the bridal party music and walking down the isle started at the time that was on the invitation.

knowing my family, I would put starts at 12, but really plan to start the processional at maybe 12:15.

I said "other" For us here it means - Seating music starts at 11:30 for the VIP guests. So everyone else needs to be there 10:30-11:00 to do the parking, guest book thing, hellos, and get into their seats by 11:20

I assume that the time stated on the invitation is the time the ceremony is starting.
So yea, I'd be getting there at 11.30!

I'd assume the ceremony starts at noon, so I'd probably be prepared to be in my seat for 11:30-11:45... I don't really know what you mean by seating music though.

Seating music is played prior to the start of the ceremony while guests are arriving and finding their seats.
And yeah, if it says noon it means the ceremony starts at noon. Our invites said 5:30, and that's the time the ceremony started.
