I don't know the right word or term for them. But is anyone going to be wearing a slimmer under your dress?
If so where did you get it from?

I know I'll be wearing a "merry widow" style corset/strapless bra. It extends all the way down to cover your hips and will suck you in. You can get one @ www.ebridalsuperstore.com for about 30 dollars...thats 1/2 the price I've seen it anywhere else.
I've also heard of alot of women wearing a product called Spanx under the dress to smooth and slim. I don't know how much slimming or what kind of product you are looking for, but I'd be glad to help.

I've been browsing the Spanx website, debating on whether I want to purchase something. I bought something from Fredericks to *slim* my lower areas (I hate my hips and booty!), but I hate it. I feel like I'm wearing biker shorts, and I think it accentuates more than it slims. Has anyone tried the Spanx before?

Hey Gals...I was JUST about to post something about undergarments and what everyone wore/is planning on wearing under their gown...I too want something that will smooth over my hips...but I don't want to feel like I am stuffed into something either, that just isn't comfortable, plus I want to feel pretty on my wedding day and everything I have seen just does not seem sexy :) Come on ladies help us out! :)
ETA: This one looks interesting...might be worth checking out! http://www.flattering.com/

That bra looks nice and might be flattering if you aren't a D+ cup...I seriously can't see it being supportive for larger cup gals. Just MHO.

Miss Sparky-Good point...I guess since I am a little ole "B" cup I hadn't thought of that...might work for us small chested gals...:)

It's very pretty - but $80!!!!????? Wow! That must be SOME bra!!! :)
This is the one I bought: http://www.barenecessities.com/Dominique-Longline-Lace-Torsolette_product_Dominique8949_,search,.htm
It's not cheap either, but being a DD, I need a serious bra. It's comfortable, for what it is. But my waist is 12 inches smaller than my chest, so I had to order a smaller size, the first one wanted to slip down.
My dress is halter style, and this bra has no straps. I think I'm going to sew 1 inch wide satin ribbons to the bra so I can tie it halter style, I think it will look pretty that way too - um, when the dress is gone. :)
I really wanted something to suck my tummy in a bit. It's not bad, but I am a bit squishy there and would have liked some support. But the bra is a very creamy ivory, and I have had an impossible time finding a support panty, with lace, in the same color. So I've gone with a lacy bikini that matches, and has very pale blue flowers on the front in the ivory lace. Believe it or not, it's from Target's "bridal collection"!!!
I thought about Spanx - but I can't see that being much of a turn on when the dress comes off. The last thing I want my husband to see is me in is a girdle on our wedding night!!! YIKES!!!

LOL, you make a good point! I think I am going to wait until after my first fitting to see if I want to get anything like Spanx. I don't want to scare him off

Lizaanne- The one you posted looks like a good one!! Thanks! I am gonna keep that one in mind...your idea to sew ribbons on to make it a halter is a good idea....Just about all the bras I saw when I did a search on google were in the 50 to 80 price range so I guess I didn't think that the $80 flattering.com bra was an extreme price (Victoria's Secret was similar in $$)...I am all about saving money though ;)
I also feel the same way about spanx, I searched their site after wahoomeg posted about it...but not the sexiest undergarments ever created! HAHA! I agree with you all...when I am in my dress (and when it comes off later) I want to look pretty and feel sexy! :)

QE22 - Just something to know about the bra, while I absolutely love it, the ivory is a very yellow ivory. So unless you are looking for white (which I wish I had ordered) just know that the ivory is not a light off white.

I'd rather be supported properly than worry about what he thinks when i slip out of the gown.
But if it bothers you that much, why not just ask him to unzip your gown and then slip into the bathroom discretely and slip into something a bit more "festive" for the occasion?

Mostly because it will be our first time together "that way". I don't want to break for a costume change. I'll go with a squishy tummy instead, I think it will be worth it in the long run. :)

Oh OH! LIzaanne- I did find a merry widow corset in all white lace- its very pretty, and you can put the garters on the bottom, get some lace top thigh highs and you'd look wonderful and sexy in that AND have the shaping/support for under your gown. If interested let me know, i'll show you the link.

:) Oh stop!!! No harm done, who knew! :)
And I would LOVE to see the merry widdow! Even if I did pay a small fortune for the one I have.....ugh. The thought of buying another! But if it works, I'm open to suggestions!
Here is my dress, and why I need something perfect underneath:
And it really does fit like a glove!!

Lizaanne- your gown is beautiful! With corsets (or bustiers) Be cautious of lace & such because it may produce unwanted bumps under your gown. I'd try the smooth merry widow...if you were to try one at all...

Oooo! Those are nice! I like the smooth one.
This is the one I already have, and I don't think those you posted come down any lower than mine, so I guess I'm all set. http://www.barenecessities.com/Dominique-Longline-Lace-Torsolette_product_Dominique8949_,search,.htm
The lace and the boning don't show through - luckily!! But I did notice that I have to wear panties and pantyhose the same light color, or you can see where my underthings end and I begin!! So no stockings and garters for me. :( And I didn't really want to wear ivory hosiery, but oh well. Better than seeing panty outline!!!

have you tried the microfiber seamless panties? They might work for you... and if you really want garters, the torsolette should have the grommets there to attach them... you can do that at the end of the night before you leave for alone time...
Torsolettes come down as far as merry widows... so yeah, you look like you are set! Very nice undergarment....

Miss Sparky-thanks for the links for those merry widows! :)
I tried on a 'belt' today when I was shopping at Kohl's (they were having awesome sales by the way! :) )...it was something that just wrapped around the waist and was supposed to slim, I didn't like that one though as I think it might be uncomfortable and move around/up/down as I move??? Has anyone tried those before?
ETA: Lizaanne your dress is so LOVELY!!! :)

Thank you! I just knew when I tried it on for the first time that it was THE ONE. Funny how that happens! :)

I have the most uncomfortable merry widow that I bought from Fredericks of Hollywood--I will NEVER go into that store again! The woman was scary!
I've only had a couple of dress fittings, but I've found it's all I need for support (my dress is an A-line tank style). I bought some white boyshort panties with "Bride" written in blue rhinestones on the front...I thought they were cute, and more than anything, I know FH will roll his eyes at them, hehe.....I may change my mind between now and then though.
