I would say I should have listened to my mom about credit cards......not really funny though...they can become quite the PITA!

Same for me, wish I had listened when I was told not to get credit cards when I was younger.

I've actually always been good with my credit cards. When I got a credit card my mom told me to buy a little notebook and for each month write down the amount of money I could spend and then write down everything I charged. Writing it all down made me realize how much money I was spending so I could tone it down when I knew I couldn't afford to anymore. That really helped.
The best financial advice I've been given is don't put all your money in one basket. So true.

To never ever buy anything (except house or car) that you can't pay for right now, today, out of your checking/savings.
NEVER to pay interest on a credit card.

To pay yourself FIRST! A savings account will add up even if you put 20.00 a payday into it!

My parents always taught me to pay off my credit card every month. That is something I hope to teach our kids too!

To save. Saving money was drilled into my head from a very young age and I am so glad my parents did that.

Pay cash for everything, except vehicles and houses.
Make sure the car payment is within your means.
Have 6 months' of income stashed in a savings account, just in case the worst happens.

Save for the future!!! My dad's hoping to retire next year (he'll be younger than 60) and he can do so only because he made sure to invest in his future when he was young.
Similar to what others have said - avoid "buy now, pay later"/credit purchases. We don't listen to this one all the time, but we budget like mad to make sure that credit purchases are paid off quickly!
And ultimately, the BEST advice I've EVER been given is that in the end, you can't take it with you :shrug2:
it all boils down to this: don't spend it if you don't have it.
