I can't believe it's our turn. :sappy:
Brian and I went for a drive on Christmas Eve, to look at Christmas lights, then came home to open one gift each before watching "A Christmas Carol". My gift to him was a lame ol' back massager thing. His gift to me was a lump of coal. An actual lump of coal. I kinda laughed when I opened the gift and saw a bit of coal lying on a piece of tissue paper, like, "Haha, very funny." But then he said, "Well, you know what they say about coal, right?" and I finally started to clue in!
I said, "Uh, that it turns into diamonds?" and he got down on his knee and pulled out the ring! I immediately burst into sobs, which made him start to cry, which made the rest even more perfect. He said, "You can't cry already! I haven't even said anything yet!" He said he loves me very much and wants to spend the rest of his life with me, and asked me to marry him! He put the ring on my finger, and we kissed and hugged each other and cried. It was perfect!
I love the ring so much. It's too big, but I've got tape on it to keep it from falling off. I'll take it in for sizing when we're back from Brian's dad's on Monday.

I called my mom first. When she answered the phone, she said, "That was quick!" I asked what she meant, and she said, "Didn't you just get my text? Isn't that why you're calling?" and I said, "No, we just got engaged!" LOL! She'd just texted to say merry Christmas. Good timing. Then I called my dad. I told him I'd just gotten engaged and he said, "To who???"
So then Brian called his mom, who was spending Christmas Eve at his sister's. When he told his mom, I could hear her scream from across the room! Then I heard, "Uncle Brian's going to marry Tanya!" and Ryleigh, his four-year-old niece, said, "Yaaaaay!" :mushy: His mom asked to talk to me and she said she was thrilled and so happy for us. Then his sister got on the phone and said the same. Then Brian called his dad, and his step-mother got on the phone and asked to congratulate me too. Then he called his other sister, and she asked to talk to me. It was really cool that they all wanted to talk to me to congratulate me themselves. Janine called me "future sister-in-law-to-be".
So I can't believe it's finally here. We're engaged. It's too good to be true. How did I find this guy and, more aptly, how did I con him into loving me, seemingly as much as I love him?
I think we're aiming for an August 2009 wedding. We want nice weather on PEI, and we don't want to have to wait a year and a half, so 2009 it is. I'm sure eight months will be plenty to plan a wedding, since I have so much experience, and exposure to some of the best wedding experts in the world. Hopefully that gives my invisible friends (I'm looking at you, Mama D) time to save up for the trip. :heee:
Anyway, I should try to get some sleep since we do have a long drive ahead of us tomorrow. Thanks for being out there, all of you. :mushy:
