Have you ever seen/been in/heard of a wedding without bouquets/boutonnieres/corsages?

We had bouquets (three) but no bouts or corsages. :shrug2: I just didn't see the need for them in our wedding

A quick Google search reveals there is no such thing.

Seriously, though, I think you could come up with all sorts of cool alternatives. I've heard of brides carrying Bibles or other religious items; winter weddings often have the BMs carrying muffs instead. There are tons of centerpiece ideas out there that don't have flowers. Hm. Now I'm putting on my thinking cap...

Although, who says anything has to be carried? I can't decide it would be weird b/c it truly would be, or just b/c I wouldn't know what to do with my hands otherwise.

The only thing I guess is that the bridesmaids would like something to do with their hands when they walk down the aisle

Also, found this in my googling for wedding without flowers: http://www.bridesbuzzing.com/2008/04/07/bouquet-with-a-difference/

I have seen candles carried down the aisle :ponder: I thought it was someone on here, but I could be totally wrong

ETA: These answers (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070930195540AALVxrc) made me giggle.

Also, candles are actually something that Jews traditionally carried down the aisle to light the way for the bride and groom. One of the weddings we went to last summer had it. However, the effect wasn't so great since they were outside and worried about the candles being blown out...

I think candles would be really pretty, especially if you keep the lights dim! :ponder: That would be beautiful.

Mom planned my friend Becky's wedding and that was their original plan, but they ended up giving everyoen in the pews a candle, lighting two at the back and passing the flame forward. I *think* they might have then lit the unity candle with the flame that got to the front, but I'm not sure.

Lots of ideas here (http://www.weddingbycolor.com/cincybride09/milestones/31990)-- I feel like button bouquets have potential, but I'm not overly fond of these.

I also saw "grow your own" suggested, which reminded me that a big chunk of the yellow flowers at our wedding were grown by my FIL. I had totally forgotten!

I really can tell you that if the Bride doesn't want flowers ok by me,,,I have read so many boards nothing surprises me It is just traditional, bibles, rosary's, muffs etc have been done so that can be consider non-floral, but I can say some of things I have seen, I would stay with flowers, but that is my opinion.............I think that when Brides strive so hard to be untraditional, or different they really run the risk of looking ridiculous.

Mel

understood....
my point isn't to be different, i just don't really want to do flowers... they have been the bane of my planning experiences :shuffle:

I'd probably like it more if purple and white weren't my HS's colors. I just associate it with team spirit.

Floral boa
For something a little different, why not wear a floral boa around your shoulders as an alternative to the traditional bouquet?

I used to have pictures that were really lovely, but I can't seem to find them right now.....

We can't forget the beaded bouquets like Aramelle used. They were stunning http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b8dc00b3127ccec33f40075c8600000010O08GZt2zhyzB7e fCw/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/

Not me, silly. :pfft: I always liked that bead bouquet, though. :)

Mel, I know what you mean about not feeling flowers. They were the thing that I absolutely hated planning the very most. My problem, though, was that I cared just enough to feel like I wasn't going to not have them, but not enough to care what they looked like.

Honestly, if I went to a wedding without flowers, I would definitely notice it with the girls, and I would think there was something wrong. Not because it's bad, but because it would be something I've never seen before. Actually, let me re-phrase that, if the girls carried nothing, i would notice and think it was kind of strange. If they carried something other than flowers, I would find that to be quite cool and be interested in learning why the bride chose that specific item. :)
