A get-together in September!
So where? When works for you? Weekend? Weeknight? What would you like to do? Dinner? Shopping?
This post can act as a list of people who will be attending, and I'm definitely in! :bliss:
Andrea - Collegegal
Jennifer - belle67
Kelly-Ann - Kiki
Sam - Curlgirl

Count me in! :wavey:
Weekdays probably won't work for me as I work at night.
Lunch or dinner would be fun!
Sunday Sept. 10th works for me but I can check my calendar for further dates. I also work occasional Saturdays. I know I am being a PITA!
*Tanya*
07-28-2006, 06:23 PM
Hey Jennifer! :hiya:
I prefer weekends too because I work Mon - Fri, and I don't drive. So something within the Hamilton or GTA (i.e. on the GO Transit route) would be best for me!
I helped organize a GTG at OLU a while back, and we had a great time at lunch together! That sounds like a great idea! We went shopping too, but that kinda forced people to break off into little groups and it was hard to talk while walking through Eaton's Centre! I think lunch is a great start!
This is so exciting! :bliss:
belle67
07-28-2006, 06:27 PM
Well if for any reason you need a ride, I can always pick you up. You are just down the road from me! :) And that was my thought about the shopping as well. ;)
*Tanya*
07-28-2006, 06:39 PM
Aw, you're too sweet! Thanks, but I really don't mind the bus! I work from home, so in a weird way, GO is kinda exciting! :heee: Depending on where we decide though, I just might take you up on that! Whereabouts is Paris anyway? (Not hard to tell I'm not from here, eh?) :shuffle:

I lived in the south end near the 403 until I moved to Brantford when I was 25. My parents still live there. My sister lives just off of Rest Acres Road off the 403 as well.
Where abouts in Hamilton are you? I know Hamilton ok and I used to work in Burlington for 5 years so I drove through Hamilton twice a day!
Hey gals....I want to try to come. It'll be tight for us though, because we'd have to hotel.
belle67
07-28-2006, 06:50 PM
Kiki! I hope you can come! Hopefully we can work around everyone's schedules!
The weekends are good for me. It's just better if it's a pay week.
belle67

Hi all,
I relatively new to MLW (thanks Jen!) and from just east of Toronto. Jen mentioned this get together to me and I'd love to join in. I am pretty flexible as far as dates. I'll keep an eye out for more info as plans get sorted out.
If you are thinking shopping, have any of you guys been to Vaughan Mills out on the n/w end of Toronto?
http://www.vaughanmills.com/static/node1871.jsp
It's massive, tons of stores - I've only been once when they first opened but it made a heck of an impression :) Just an idea.
Take care,
Andrea
07-29-2006, 12:00 PM

It really is!! I love the mountains and the ocean! I am so blessed to live here... although it is so freakin' expensive!!!!!
That was my thoughts as well. :agree: But it really is beautiful out there. We are trying to organize our next trip to Vancouver in 2010 for the Olympics with another couple. We will be staying with one of Steve's GM who lives downtown!
Ok... here are my unavailable dates for our GTG and I think this is it...
Sat. Sept. 9
Sat. Sept. 16
Sat. Sept. 23 and Sun. Sept. 24
Everything else should be ok with me.
Andrea
08-01-2006, 12:29 PM
I say lets go for the 10th...
*Tanya*
08-01-2006, 01:08 PM

Andrea
08-01-2006, 11:36 PM
so what would you gurls think about a GTG blinkie?
Ooooh it's gonna be so tight for me. If we do it on Sunday I'd definitely have to leave right around 5:00 so as to get a good night's sleep before work. I love Playdium!!! I've been once before for midnight madness. It was a blast. Sheesh, I don't know what to do. Take a day off on Monday? Maybe a half day and come in around lunch?
Andrea
08-03-2006, 06:47 PM
lets plan for a trip to playdium? sound good gurls...and...why not plan for later, obviously gunna have to be after october because belle is getting married then.
belle67
08-04-2006, 09:16 AM
What about shopping or hitting the ROM or something touristy like that?
*Tanya*
08-04-2006, 11:33 AM
Ooooh, ROM!!! I loved that idea, Jennifer! :jump4joy:
Andrea
08-05-2006, 11:21 PM

*heather*
08-06-2006, 12:29 AM
Gals, I'm SO far from Ontario, but I just wanted to pop in and say "wish I was there!" :D I hope you have fun!
KathyandJer
08-10-2006, 11:24 AM
Heyyyyy, I'm in Ontario too - would be fun, but I'm not sure work will allow!
I'll have to see closer to the day - if it's possible, maybe we could carpool Kiki? :)
That's totally a possibility Kathy!!!
Andrea
08-11-2006, 04:28 PM
hey gals...where everything going with this..why dont' we set a date for the end of october...
belle67
08-11-2006, 04:36 PM
Well Sept. 10 only works for me and I will be on my honeymoon at the end of October.
If I can't go, I can't go. ;)
Sept. 10 just can't work for me. Sorry everyone. But I'd love to in October!!
belle67
08-11-2006, 07:21 PM
Maybe we should vote? The one with the highest number of people interested wins.
Looks like we have one for Sept. 10 and 2 for the end of October. :)
Andrea
08-12-2006, 12:54 PM
you're on your honeymoon tho...so lets go for maybe november
Stacy
08-25-2006, 08:42 AM
Hey girls! This sounds like a lot of fun! I'd totally be interested and right now, pretty much any date is good!
Whoever tagged my siggy is great because she brought me to this page looking for who else was in Ontario! haha
Andrea
08-25-2006, 10:13 AM
i tagged you hunny WELCOME...you actually live not far from me at all...maybe an hour. This thread has sorta come to a lull and i think we've established that after october is the best....maybe we should go christmas shopping?
Stacy
08-25-2006, 10:19 AM
that's a good idea! THanks for tagging me btw!
Andrea
08-25-2006, 10:22 AM
you're welcome!
so other gals...christmas shopping? we could go to that awesome mall called vaughn mills...or the dixie outlet
*Tanya*
08-25-2006, 11:03 AM
Hi Stacy! :)
I did the shopping thing at a get-together with people from another board, and it wasn't really conducive to talking and getting to know each other. Everyone broke off into mini groups and it's hard to make chitchat when everyone's got her own list of things she has to do/buy. :dunno:
Lunch and then a touristy or fun activity would be nice. Or even something like mini putt or bowling?
I'll go with whatever the majority wants to do, I just wanted to mention that. :D
Andrea
08-25-2006, 11:45 AM
i guess you do have a point there tanya....BOWLING is a lot of fun.... (there is a really fun glow in the dark one in london)
who likes horseback riding?
*Tanya*
08-25-2006, 12:47 PM
In November? I'd be a bit chilly! :)
Andrea
08-26-2006, 09:32 AM
LADIES...lets have some ideas
belle67
08-26-2006, 09:36 AM
If November is when we will be getting together, let's make a list of who is coming. From there we can pick a locale that is central to everyone and find something to do there. :)
Andrea
08-26-2006, 09:38 AM
yeah...thats a great idea...the reason i say November is because i really want you to come too...and the whol ereason we started this was for tanya, you and i
belle67
08-26-2006, 09:41 AM
Awww thanks Andrea! :)
Ok, let's plan for November. And I'm in!
I think I am free anytime except the first weekend... it's my birthday.
Andrea
08-26-2006, 09:53 AM
let shoot for the 18th...this way...you gurls...including myself...from my NEW job, have time to book off
Andrea
08-26-2006, 09:54 AM
I say we go to dinner and go bowling
belle67
08-26-2006, 12:29 PM
Nov. 18 works for me.
*Tanya*
08-26-2006, 01:03 PM

Andrea
08-26-2006, 05:15 PM

belle67
08-27-2006, 11:30 PM
So we have the date.
Who is in???
Andrea
08-27-2006, 11:35 PM
we will have to get the chicky poo to make a list on here...but all we know so far is you (jennifer) me(andi) and chicky poo (tanya)
belle67
08-28-2006, 10:35 AM

belle67
08-28-2006, 11:28 AM
It should be. It will probably be cold but it seems that snow comes closer to Christmas now.
Andrea
08-28-2006, 12:22 PM

Andrea
08-29-2006, 12:45 PM

Andrea
08-29-2006, 03:24 PM

Stacy
08-29-2006, 06:39 PM
ok, so is there an official plan? I checked and the concert starts at 7 so if its gonna be in London, I'd have to leave at like 4:30. The concert is in TO so I guess it all depends on the plan.
belle67
08-29-2006, 11:09 PM
I hope you can arrange to come Stacy!
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:09 PM
haha thats awesome...why don't we plan something central...like brantford?
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:09 PM
we need to start getting together some plans as to where this will take place
belle67
08-29-2006, 11:25 PM
I don't mind something closer to T.O. and I know Tanya would appreciate that. ;)
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:28 PM
no i honestly don't mind it either...
i think for tanya sake...lets make this a gurls day and then we can have a party later at a date with the men too
belle67
08-29-2006, 11:33 PM
Just had a thought...
About about meeting at Ikea in Vaughan, drive to Yorkdale mall for shopping then take the subway to Armadillos for supper.
FSIL and I do this trip all the time.
Or we could skip Yorkdale shopping and take the subway at Yorkdale and go somewhere touristy.
belle67
08-29-2006, 11:36 PM
Tanya... I could pick you up on my way through.
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:36 PM
that would be a cool idea, because I have a van that would prolly fit everyone...as does Jennifer...has a SUV so im sure you could too rite?
YEAH YEAH YEAH Im all for that :jump4joy: :hehe: :bliss:
belle67
08-29-2006, 11:39 PM
I can take 4 more. Carpooling might work too....
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:40 PM
SHOPPING...we could see how many ladies we could get together then break off into lil groups, then meet back and switch shopping partners
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:41 PM
well since you're passing by b ford i could meet you somewhere outside...
belle67
08-29-2006, 11:56 PM
SHOPPING...we could see how many ladies we could get together then break off into lil groups, then meet back and switch shopping partners
I think Tanya said it best that when we do that, we won't have a chance to get to know everyone. I know I would hate to drive all that way and not get a chance to talk to everyone! :)
I think a quick stop at something like Ikea then something that we could do as a group (say ROM, Science Centre) might be fun. Then of course dinner somewhere. :heee:
Andrea
08-29-2006, 11:59 PM
the sciense centre is alot of fun...
It doesn't matter to me. I'm driving about 6 hours just to get there!
Andrea
08-30-2006, 10:59 PM
i can't wait...im getting sooooooo excited :bliss: :bliss: :bliss:
Can anyone recommend a good place to stay for me and hubby, something not pricey?
Andrea
08-31-2006, 10:34 AM
ummmmm....your best bet would be to get tanya to look there in hamilton or ancaster or get jennifer to look in brantford because shses familiar with the area
*Tanya*
08-31-2006, 10:42 AM
PMing you, Keeks. :)
Andrea
08-31-2006, 10:43 AM
seeeee...LOL :D told you you could rely on either one of them
belle67
08-31-2006, 10:52 AM
Thanks for looking after her Tanya. :)
Andrea
08-31-2006, 10:54 AM

Andrea
09-08-2006, 04:20 PM

So I have been searching online for accomodations+tour packages and they only ones I could find were for B&Bs with a minimun 2 nights.
I like Andrea's hotel picks. I have stayed at a few of them as I have found that as long as you stay at a chain hotel/motel there, there are usually no problems. I have also stayed at non-chain ones and they were dives.
I moved on and started looking at tours. They run from 4-8 hours and you can no meals included or lunch or dinner for a reasonable cost and the meals is always at a very nice restaurant.
I like the idea of doing a longer tour with lunch. We can see more wineries. :heee:
http://www.niagaragetaways.com/ I have heard this is the best one as they are based in downtown NOTL.

This sounds like fun! I've never done a winery tour! Is there a lot of walking, or are you kinda shuttled around from place to place?
belle67
09-09-2006, 11:10 AM
The last one I was on they shuttled you to each winery but you had to walk the winery. It is a lot of fun! :)
belle67
09-09-2006, 11:11 AM
Or maybe be carried around the winery if you have had too many samples? :devilheee:
Andrea
09-09-2006, 11:46 AM
haha so is this a go? tanya and kiki are you all for staying over nite?
Well we could...hadn't really planned on that, since the tours themselves cost money.
*Tanya*
09-09-2006, 06:51 PM
Sounds great to me! I'm psyched to have my very own hotel room for a night. Sounds soo glam! :D
belle67
09-10-2006, 09:37 AM
I'd go in with someone for a room if anyone wants to. A regular hotel would be fine.
But then again I'm like Tanya... all to myself would be fun too! :heee:
Kiki... I like your new avi pic!
Andrea
09-10-2006, 12:11 PM
haha kiki i think yur the most excited of all of us LOL haha
jen and tanya, wanna get a room then???
*Tanya*
09-10-2006, 12:23 PM
Well, if we're all getting our own rooms, cool. If we're sharing, I think Kiki and I talked about sharing one, didn't we Keeks? Or did I dream that? :)
Andrea
09-10-2006, 03:24 PM
why don't we rent one with 2 queen sized beds
Yeah T, I'm sure that we could split a room...2 queens. I'll double check with Paul.
Checked with Paul and it's a go....but I'll leave the place up to you!
belle67
09-10-2006, 07:27 PM
Let me know where you guys decide to book and I'll stay there as well.
Andrea, I'll split with you but Sam might join us so there would be 3. I am sure we can get a cot for the room.
Okay, I'm having problems accessing the pages that Andrea posted. What kind of hotel options are out there?
belle67
09-10-2006, 08:29 PM
I can't access them either... I could yesterday.
Shucks....Paul said that if we go, he definitely wants to see the Falls again. So that's a must for us.
*Tanya*
09-10-2006, 09:10 PM
It's a must for me too!!!
belle67
09-10-2006, 09:22 PM
Ok, here are the final details that have been decided for our GTG weekend:
We will be touring here:
http://www.niagaraairbus.com/Niagara_Winery_Tours/winery_tours.htm
Tour D. We will be booking our tour to pick us up at the hotel. Remember to add that in at the time of your booking. Including all taxes the cost is $95.17 and that includes lunch at the Shaw Cafe.
And we will be staying at the Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview in the 2 room family suite that sleeps 6:
http://www.niagarafallsmarriott.com/index.php/screen/family_suites
We will be responsible for booking our own tour and 1 person will be in charge of booking the hotel room. Your share of the room must be paid to that person before our decided date (to be determined soon). If we have 6 people, it will be $49.39 including all the taxes. If there are 5 of us, it will be $56.99.
The wine tour looks like it ends after the included lunch so we will have the afternoon free to do the falls, casino or sightseeing. We can also use some of Sunday if it works for everyone. I know kiki has a long drive.
Carpooling... will be determined when we have the number of people signed up. ;)
Am I missing anything anyone?
Andrea
09-11-2006, 10:15 AM
WOW jen...you're one organized gal. I could meet you somewheres on 403 or however you take...haha i dunno. Let me know, ill get you to pick me up and i will help out with gas.
So does anyone have a credit card? That person could order it and then we would send them a cheque. Im going to get my mom to book the tour on her CC. Anyways, this looks like a lot of fun and its coming together well :) IM EXCITED.
I asked my mom how she felt about me going away for the weekend on something like this and she said its good for me, im almost 23 and I can decided what I want
Andrea
09-11-2006, 10:16 AM
OOOHHHH! and saturday nite, I can double check, but theres a light illumination show :bliss:
Andrea
09-11-2006, 10:27 AM
so I was just told, Ki and Tan had a part in this too. Thank you gurls soooooo much
Andrea
09-11-2006, 10:30 AM
Shucks....Paul said that if we go, he definitely wants to see the Falls again. So that's a must for us.
Its NOT a must just for you hunny, but for me too. I've only ever been there once, but it was raining, and I was wearing white so we couldn't get out of the bus. I was there for a singing competition
belle67
09-11-2006, 10:37 AM
Thanks Tanya and kiki for planning everything with me last night. I am glad we made final decisions! :)
When is everyone booking their tour? I have to do mine before the wedding because I will be gone until the end of October.
We can probably book our tour next week. Two weeks later I can send money to the person booking the hotel.
Andrea
09-11-2006, 02:49 PM
i will prolly book the tour, not this thursday but the next...then the pay after that i can send the money to whomever is booking HOTEL :bliss: :bliss::bliss:
I can call the hotel and reserve...I have a government credit card I can use to hold the room.
belle67
09-11-2006, 07:43 PM
Very cool! You are hired! :heee:
Since it is just being held we would just pay the hotel ourselves, correct?
Yes. There are no payments required yet.
Andrea
09-12-2006, 08:55 AM
Good stuff...you're a brite one! Thats a good idea of just having to pay the hotel!
belle67
09-12-2006, 11:05 AM
That will definitely make things so much easier!
Thanks for offering to do this kiki! :)
*Tanya*

Wow man! you guys have an awesome trip lined up! I wish I could come but I definately cannot afford it! I hope you ladies have a blast though!
Andrea
09-12-2006, 09:01 PM
we will stacy, thats a real bummer that you cant come, is it just becuase of money, or also because of that concert
Stacy
09-13-2006, 06:47 AM
a little bit from column A and and a little from column B
Andrea
09-13-2006, 10:07 AM
thats a real bummer...would u like to join us? im willing to help pay :D
Stacy it would be great if you could join us. Andrea just remember that the room we want has a limit of 6 people. If Steve comes with Jen, that will be 6 people without Stacy. If you wanted to help Stacy come to the GTG, you'd probably have to look for your own hotel room and the cost would be way more.
Andrea
09-13-2006, 01:09 PM
awww im offering but i know she wouldn't bite on that...i don't think Jen is bringing steve...its just gunna be sam, me and her in a room
belle67
09-13-2006, 01:11 PM
Yes, I didn't even ask Steve if he wanted to go with me.
I got an email from Sam yesterday and it looks like she is a go. I am just waiting for her to confirm on here. If Sam comes, it will be me, Sam and Andrea in one room.
Andrea
09-13-2006, 01:13 PM
:bliss: haha i didn't even ask damian either, but thats just because i wanted a weekend for me, to meet you gurls oh and paul, kiki's hubby
Uh, okay.....having a "doh" moment. I meant Sam. Yikes. Just shoot me now.
Okay, are we talking the same hotel room with two separate rooms? Because if that's the case, you'll be 4 in the same bedroom - the one with 2 queens (Tanya included) and me and Paul on the pull-out couch. Right?
belle67
09-13-2006, 03:43 PM
Yep, that's the room. I guess I wasn't sure on the sleeping arrangments per room. As long as it sleeps 6, I can sleep anywhere! :)
Andrea
09-13-2006, 03:44 PM
so tell me ladies, i looked at the picture but is it one big room with two seperate ones...how does it go
As far as I know, it is a suite with a separate bedroom with french doors. The living room couch pulls out into a queen bed.
Andrea
09-13-2006, 09:41 PM
haha i was saying to Jennifer early today how its awesome, we ALL have the 18th in our name there...

09-14-2006, 12:43 AM
Ah ha! I finally got my butt back here to confirm :heee: See Jen...it only took 3 days since the first email...lol
I'm in for November 18th, like I already told Jen. Have any of you guys booked your wine tour yet? It sounds cool!!!
Btw I think the custome blinkie idea is great if someone knows how to make one - I have no clue!
Talk to ya soon!
belle67
09-14-2006, 12:49 AM
Yay! Sam is in! :woot:
I think most of us will be booking our tours within the next two weeks.
Do all the details make sense Sam? Any questions?
All the links to the sites are on page 8... just in case you missed em. ;)
belle67
09-14-2006, 12:51 AM
Sam, if you want to drive to Burlington, I can pick you up there. I am picking Andrea up in Brantford.
Andrea
09-14-2006, 09:01 AM
:bliss:im booking my tour in two weeks, next pay cheque
I can do a blinkie tonight....how about one that has the Falls on it? And a vineyard maybe?
belle67
09-14-2006, 10:39 AM
Very cool! Thanks Kiki!
Andrea
09-14-2006, 02:26 PM
kiki yur the best...thats a great idea...DEFINATELY has to h ave the falls...
The hotel is official booked!
The cost is $259.95 for the 6 adults. Of course that is not taxes included. It has full view of Canadian and American Falls. 2 Queen size beds in the bedroom, one double in the pull-out couch. Valet parking is available for $20 - with full in/out privileges.

It still hasn't really hit me that this is happening!!!
belle67
09-15-2006, 10:00 AM
Nah, the newlyweds should get a queen!
Andrea
09-15-2006, 10:01 AM

I think it will REALLY hit me when i book the tour
But then we'd be sharing a room with someone, and I'm not sure Paul wants that gals seeing him in his skivies (sp?). LOL

belle67
09-15-2006, 10:44 AM
I was just at La Senza yesterday and they have really cute sets... I almost bought one. I think it was $24.

There is a pink and brown set that is just too cute!
This is starting to sound like a slumber Party! I love it! :heee:
*Tanya*
09-15-2006, 01:25 PM
OOooooh! Slumber party! We could order pizza and do each others' makeup and I could bring my guitar and we could sing Kumbaya and... Okay, stopping now. :heee:

Maybe we should work out a formal itinerary!
What day is the actual tour again? And how long is it? And Kiki said they have to leave by 6 on the Sunday I think, right?

I dunno how expensive stuff here is, but I here's the website to the skylon tower.
http://www.skylon.com/
The cost to go to the observation deck is only $10.95 a person. I think this would be AWESOME!
The indoor/outdoor Observatory, the highest vantage point in Niagara, is located on the third floor of the Dome. On a clear day visitors can see close to 8,000 square miles of Canada and the United States, including the skylines of Toronto and Buffalo. At night, year-round, you can enjoy the colour light display of the Falls and cities of Niagara Falls, Canada and Niagara Falls, New York. A souvenir shop is located on the indoor section of the observatory.

Just so you know, im just researching things we could do on Sunday
http://www.canadaoneoutlets.com/
http://www.niagaraparks.com/nfgg/whitewater.php
http://www.niagaraparks.com/nfgg/whitewater.php (ive ALWAYS wanted to do this.
If you go on that site and scroll near the bottom, theres a lil video clip...that is a cheap option too
only $11.00
We will see the light show from the hotel room - we have a view. As for the skylon tower - it's gonna be dang cold in November ya know. You sure you wanna do that, when you'll see the falls better from our room? Just keep in mind Andrea that we'll be going at the end of November....brrrrr!
As for extra tours and stuff....I'll be ditchin' those, because there are two of us to pay for, and Paul still cannot work due to immigration. The tour and hotel, gas and food are gonna be enough of a luxury for us for the weekend. I don't mind a nice restaurant, but something not too spendy.
And yes, Tanya, we have to leave by 6 p.m. at the latest on Sunday...it's at least a 6 hour drive back. More like 7 hours.

I think this is JUST A THOUGht, we should get breaky then do something "fun" like the imax and daredevil or go hehind the falls :bliss: then get lunch around 2 or 3 and then head home
Andrea

Andrea

Im off to bed, have to be up at 5
I appreciate the offer Andrea, but that's too much to ask of a gal. We can definitely plan smaller things for sure....I don't mind Imax at all. Heck I may be able to find some 2 for 1 coupons from Entertainment Book for us. You never know. If you guys want to do skylon tower to go to the observation deck you'll love it.
