When are you "Bride" and "Groom"

So this came up with a friend today and thought it could generate some interesting conversation...

When do you actually become and end being a bride/groom. There seems to be some fluidity in the usage of those terms. Does it apply for the day of the wedding? During the entirety of the engagement? For some length of time after the wedding? Only before the wedding and during the ceremony, but not after?

I would say through the length of the engagement to the end of the wedding day... but bride more so than groom b/c if you notice it's always the bride, the bride, the bride! She's the bride blah blah... but rarely he's the groom :lol: Sourta weird.

i agree wtih rachael. i think its from the engagement to the night of the wedding. i wouldnt say to the wedding itself, because its always 'the bride this and that' at the reception as well.

DH always calls me bride too, but others started to calling me that about three months before the wedding and about six months afterwards. Now, I mostly get wife. :)

I'd say from engagement through wedding. Although apparently, Raif's dad called me "his son's bride" for a little while after the wedding, since it was so new :teehee:

I say from engagement to wedding day. Though, my DH's boss calls me Chris' bride to this day.

I'd say it starts at engagement, but I think I've heard of women being called "bride" much longer after the wedding than the man being called "groom"! Greg was the groom until the end of the trip-portion of our honeymoon (1 week after the wedding), but he still occasionally calls me his bride almost 5 years later!
