A spinoff on the other thread... :) Have you gotten any "Yes" RSVP's from anyone that you thought wouldn't come?

Jeff's oldest brother lives in Florida, and is pretty much your classic loner-type. Their mom got re-married last year and Charlie (the brother) "gave her away"... The wedding was on a boat, so they did the ceremony on-board, then got off on the shore for pictures. When it was time to re-board and "set sail" for the reception we found out that Charlie had totally bailed. He just left!
We totally didn't think he would come up to NY for the wedding, but we just got word that he has booked his flight! Technically no "yes" RSVP, but booking his flight and making arrangements to stay with his dad is more of an assurance than a card marked yes for this guy! Now, I wonder if he will disappear from our wedding? :)

My old boss, who is like a father to me, called and told me that he and his wife are coming. He had previously told me that he couldn't come

Yep.....DH's Dad and Stepmom. They had previously told us they refused to come because DH didn't put stepmom's name in the engagement announcement. A week before the wedding, they changed their mind. DH was very happy.

My surprise was my Aunt Marilyn and her family showing up. I truly wasn't expecting them as I really hadn't talked to them in YEARS. It was a pleasant surprise though :D

DH's surprise was an old pastor and his wife from many many years ago. They lived in the midwest and we figured we'd send them an invitation, but they probably wouldn't come. We didn't hear from them as an RSVP but they showed up anyway! (Which was fine because many people said they would come but ended up not coming)

Um, yes. My great-aunt who has been virtually housebound came. We found out later that they'd lied to get her onto the plane!

My boss and his wife.....they're coming home from a cruise the day of the wedding, so didn't think they could make it.....I just found out they changed their flight plans and will be able to make it!!!

Not yet - but hope I don't get TOO many surprises!!! Horrible to say, but I'm planning on those "no" people being "no" people or I'll be over budget!!

Pittiful, I know.

My surprise YES person is now a no person. He called me the other day and said that they couldn't make it. His son made the starting football team for a prestigous Denver highschool and his first game is that weekend :(

But I have gotten a couple of other yes's since then! AND, I will have a couple of MLW/UW girls in attendence :)
