I didn't no where else to post this question. I see that some people use maid of honor and some use matron of honor. Is matron used for married ladies??

I just need to know because I am getting some beer mugs engraved and I want to have the right terminolagy.(holy big words lol)

Also bestman one word or two words when doing this sort of thing??

I know they are stupid questions.

Matron is married
Maid is unmarried

I use Groomsman as one word and Best Man as two words. Don't know if that is right though.

My sister is getting a divorce and being announced with her maiden last name... so she's single, but was married... would that make her a Maid or Matron?

I'm calling my two "girls" Friends of Honor - because I don't want to choose. One will have to be the head chick (yeah, that's you, Beth), so the priest knows who will receive Communion and who will sign the register, but for the most part they are equal for the day. :)

I have read that once a woman is married, she would be a Matron even if she is divorced.

I think Rosebud's got it right. Ask your sister what she prefers though. If she *hates* being called Matron, let her be maid. ;)

In my first wedding, I had my sister and my best friend - both of whom are married.

I listed my sister as maitron of honor and my friend as maid of honor - simply because my sister is older (and also related). Looking back, I dunno if that was right or not!

My Matron of Honor just got divorced this week. I guess I will ask her if she prefers Maid or Matron. Maybe she won't want to be a "Matron" now that she's not married. :dontknow:
