Hi everyone,
FH and I are studying abroad this year, but my passport JUST came on Saturday. And then we realized that we have a huge amount to do to before we can leave, and one of those is register.
Where did you guys register? Where would you recommend?

Well I have been thinking about this for a little bit. Not a whole lot cause I have so many things on my plate right now. But when I do register I have some local shops here in town that I will going to for the local guests and family, then I am thinking about going bigger stores for oot guests. This way if they want they can pick something up oot and bring it. I am liking the idea of Canadian Tire, for some Debbie Travis plates and what not, and if fh wants some tools and what not. Then I was also thinking Sears. I can't register at say like BB&B because I don't live near one, or like Ikea those sort of stores. As of right now I don't really know what I want. I have lots of time to think about it. But I also do know that I should get it done asap.

Jessica, we registered at Target, JC Penny, Pfaltzgraff and Royal Doulton. A little something for everyone on our guest list. We didn't want to have only expensive places, so we went for a good compromise.

Macy's and Target so far but we will probably add more places in closer to the wedding.

We aren't having any showers, but just to be silly we registered with Home Depot. :) FH registered for a $300 pneumatic nailer, and brown paper leaf bags. :wow:

 My FH would probably register for the pneumatic nailer as a serious request, knowing him....

I asked him, what are you going to do with a $300 pneumatic nailer!!??
He said - BUILD THINGS!!!! .....oh my....now that is frightening!!

FH has been doing renovation for his summer job (and the past year to save money) so...he'd probably drool over it. But he's handy to have around, and he's teaching me things too :)

That sounds like my FH when he added golf clubs to our registry!! He has never played golf in his life!

JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, and Crate and Barrel. We had to register at a variety of department stores because our family is scattered all over the country and some were only near certain stores...

Bed, Bath and Beyond and Sears. I regret registering at Sears though. The service sucked and we have maybe 10 items on there.

We started a registry at Sears and Meijer  Those are both US stores, so I also plan to try to duplicate the Sears registry at Sears in Canada and choose another store here as well (I like the idea of Ikea - there's some COOL stuff at Ikea!) :D
Jer is going to monitor the Sears registries and if something is purchased Sears US, then we'll remove it from the Sears Canada registry...or just leave them and return duplicates to the store that's closest to us :p

We registered at Target and JC Penny.
We also registered with Kohl's but I had a horrible experience with them there so I didn't bother to tell anyone about it. But I didn't bother to delete the account either! :p

We registered at Target and Kohl's and I think I will just keep it at that since we are only having around 75 people.

We have registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel and Cutco so far. We may register at Williams Sonoma, it depends on if I find everything that I want at the others. We were going to register at Macy's because of family in New York, but they have BB&B there and there's really no reason I need to register at Macy's and I don't think we need FIVE registries! I'm so indecisive though, I need to finish them desperately.
We registered at Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, and Target.

So far (but I don't think we'll add any) we are registered at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I don't know if my guests will use the registries but they'll be there for them if they do!!

From what I can tell, Ikea doesn't have a registry service - is that true?
In any case, Jer and I created our third registry at amazon.com - they have everything there, and it's available worldwide!

We are registered at Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire. Those seem to be more then enough for us and our guests as everyone we know shop at those two stores

I lied, I changed it. I finally finished all our registries, wahoo! We have bits from everywhere.

Wahoo! :jump4joy: I'm so happy to have them done!

We ended up registered at Amazon.com, Target & Bed, Bath and Beyond...all ones that allow you to do lots of things online since we're so far away from home. We figure we'll be able to do more when we're home, but for now we have a pretty decent hold on things.

So far just BBB, I'm hoping that if we register in only one place and don't put a ton of stuff we don't need, maybe people will give us cash :dust:
I dunno how I feel about registering. There isn't anything I really NEED, and I also like suprises.

So far I am thinking Bloomingdales and Tiffany's. I wanted to register with Waterford but they just do a wishlist. :(

Hey Allyson -- what is Belk? And a must have from Williams-Sonoma, according to my mother, is the Le Creuset (sp?) Dutch Oven :) I registered for it in red, but it comes in blue, orange and gree (and yellow I think). It's $200, so a higher price point but a good one! Also, The Barefoot Contessa SWEARS by her 10 mixing bowl set -- it's only $35 -- a GREAT price point for college friends who want to buy a gift but don't have a lot to spend!

Can you find the same Waterford pieces you want at Bloomingdale's? I don't know, we don't have them here in Houston, but I know you can get Waterford at Macy's (and I think Nordstrom) so maybe you can there? Or maybe register three places, with one that has the Waterford you want?
http://search.bloomingdales.com/exec/?PseudoCat=b.comSearch&q=waterford
OO they have a bunch! That will be good!
Macy's has a bunch too!

Good luck! You have plenty of time, but less than a year now, wahoo for you!

Oh Ashley, how I  over those Le Creuset dutch ovens. My friend, Susie, has one and loves it so much! She is a huge fan of kitchen gadgets. She even has an electric corkscrew.

Hey Allyson -- what is Belk?
It is a regional store, a lot like Dillards.

03-25-2007, 12:09 PM
Okay, so we were forced to change our registries (well, one of them) - Meijer stoped doing a registry service, but they gave us a $50 gift card for our trouble :jump4joy: Not bad, considering we had only added about 10 items to that registry as a "place holder" until we got back there to update it :giggle:
So now we're registered at amazon.com...Sears (both Canada and the US) and WalMart (both Canada and the US). And we've already gotten some stuff off of our registries, so that's cool :)

Thanks for the tip Ashley!! I'll definitely keep that in mind.
Belk is basically like a department store, but its more for home furnishing and things (dinnerware, flatware, fine china...all that good stuff). Since that stuff is what they focus in, they have a larger variety than regular department stores like Dillards, Macys, etc. I'm not certain if we'll register there, but if Dillards doesn't work out then Belk is a definite back up.

That sounds awesome! I didn't really look at China, so I can't tell you much other than Vera Wang had some gorgeous settings (of course, why wouldn't she, HAHA!)

Tell me about it! I can just see myself registering...I'm going to be ringing up everything. I'm definitely going to need to make a list and stick to it, or else god help me!

i think we might do Bed Bath and Beyond and Target...it seems to be the trend..we want money tho haha
FH has little to no interest in registering... AND he doesn't want to do it yet.... But with Christmas coming up, and our wedding in June, I kind of want to do it before Christmas just in case.
But right now I'm thinking Bed, Bath, and Beyond... or Linens N Things.... Plus probably Target. I dunno, we have to figure out what our needs are going to be, too.

hm your best bet might be to wait until january to register. they may have different items for the new year, etc. you will still have a couple months until June..ooo I wish we had a Linens N Things, I love that store

Bri, does he realize that he'd get to hold a little gun and pretend he was shooting everything? That usually gets the guys interested

Yeah but there are a couple of reasons I'd do it before Christmas.
1 - we do have friends/family that are starting to ask and look things up
2 - I don't mind going and changing things that we get or things that are discontinued, etc.

 Yes, I tried appealing to him with that, and it still didn't go over.
