I am curious as to how all the brides slept the night before their wedding. I am so nervous that I won't be able to sleep because I will be so excited and will wake up all puffy the next morning. Do you have any tricks to share as to how you managed to sleep? Or was it even an issue for you?

I barely slept at all! It was not good since I need my sleep. :disbelief: When I first got up in the morning I was still pretty tired but once I got going I started to wake up pretty fast and I went strong all day! I think all of the adrenaline just kept me going. I would try not to think about trying to sleep because that will just make it worse. But if you can't sleep don't worry because the adrenaline of it being your wedding day should hold you over! :loveshower:

I'm worried about not being able to sleep either. I've invited all my ladies to spend the evening with me at my house, so hopefully it will be like a big sleepover and they'll be able to keep me relaxed and calm my nerves.

For me I slept pretty good and only because My Rehearsal dinner was that night and I had a little to much wine and I got back to my moms I think around 1130 or 12am. I went right to sleep but I did wake up at 5:30am and I took a nice long hot bath. I was not the least bit tired, it was all the adrenaline. After the wedding me and some family from OOT went to a restaurant/bar right across the street from our hotel. It got to be like 2 in the morning and I was exhausted!!!

That's what we are doing at my house too. I plan on having a glass or two of wine like MrsRea said and that should make me drowsy

I took a melatonin and I *still* couldn't sleep. :) I was groggy the next morning, but the day quickly took care of that.

I had no problem sleeping at all! I was so exhausted that I basically passed out! I also thought I would have a problem with falling asleep, but it definitely wasn't a concern!

The Day Before

I worked half a day. Then went home and packed up all the furbabies and all the wedding stuff. I drove straight to the venue where I was met by my mom and dh. I put all the furbabies in my mom's car (didn't want them waiting while I was finalizing stuff) and she took them to my gma's. Then dh and I had our finalized meeting, where I had to bring all wedding stuff to leave with them. We kissed and he left for our house and I left for my gma's. So, it was a pretty busy day for us.

That night, about 8pm I took one nytol and turned off the tv. I called dh to tell him good night and i love him. I would not let myself watch tv or do anything other than read. I fell asleep around 9pm.

The next morning I slept in as late as I could, which was like 7ish. Even after I woke up I stayed in bed for another hour. Then I went to meet my parents for a good breakfast. Even with all of that sleep I was tired. I fell asleep during my pedicure. But once I was slipping into my dress I was wide awake. DH and I stayed out till almost 2am the next morning. Even after we went back to the hotel, we stayed up another hour or two. We ate our take home basket that the venue gave us and drank a little more.

I was tired, we were so busy that week finalizing everything. I fell asleep like normal, I woke up about an hour earlier than I had planned;)

25mg of diphenhydramine (Benedryl) - works like a charm every time!! :)

That's my plan! :) Either that or I may as well just stay up and run around the block for all the sleep I will get. I have really hard time sleeping - or at least staying asleep. Benedryl works perfectly....I can feel it kicking now as a matter of fact. Time to log off and grab my book.....

I took the entire day before off and slept in for a little while...I did a lot of running around that day and actually slept very well the night before.

I worry about that too and I plan on taking some Tylenol PM or something because I think even if I fall asleep I won't stay asleep

Me too...usually when I get really excited about something or I'm really nervous about stuff, I never can get to sleep....like every year the day before the first day back to school, I could never sleep. We booked the wedding night suite for the night before a well, and I'm inviting my girls to stay with me, if they do, they do...if not....I'll just have to go down to the hottub and relax. The front desk said the hottub closes at like 9pm, but I'll probably need it at like midnight but they said that under special circumstances like a wedding, they can reopen it up....so hopefully if I say I'm freaking out and I need to relax, they'll open it for me.

Katie, that's pretty awesome. Go down with a green face mask, hair in curlers (but not very well) wearing a tattered bathrobe and fuzzy slippers and just freak out :P

I slept at my parents' house, while DH slept at the hotel with his parents.

I was SO exhausted when I got home from the RD but I still couldn't sleep. I think I ended up getting about 4 hours but I had so much adrenaline running through me on the wedding day that it wasn't a big deal!! :heee:

I know 2 gravol work like a charm for me. But if I don't get about 10 hours of sleep I'm groggy the next day. I know I will most likely take SOMETHING to help me sleep!

I'm normally a pretty heavy sleeper, so I had no problem. We did a lot of running around for the 2-3 days before, and I had trouble getting to bed early those nights. So by the time Friday hit, the rehearsal and dinner, I got to sleep by 11:30 I think, and I slept all the way thru to 6:30, very good too. When the alarm went off I almost didn't want to get up, then I remembered what day it was! I didn't have the girls stay over b/c I figured it would be easiest for everyone to take a shower at home, but they all came over for breakfast before we went for our hair. If you have limited space or well water, you may want to consider having everyone shower in different places, you don't want to be the one getting the cold shower!

I will be the first to shower... and maybe some of them will shower the night before?? But I know I won't have a cold shower, thats for sure! I'm the bride ;)

Yeah, I was thinking of the logistics of that, we only have one shower and not a very good water heater.

Then again, I've heard you aren't supposed to wash your hair the day of if you are getting anything fancy done, so if we all don't need to wash our hair, then it will be easier. Jump in jump out.

And I'm showering first :P

I'm doing that too!

My mom, my BFF, my cousin and I think my FSIL are all going to stay with me. FMIl will prob. be with her mom.

We're getting a hotel room and we're all going to stay together so hopefully I'll sleep! I'm probably going to have a couple glasses of wine at the rehearsal dinner so hopefully I'll be sleepy :)

I was so exhausted from all the running around during wedding week that the nite before I slept hard and the next morning we just took our time getting moving and left everything else left up to our families. It worked out just fine.

I didn't have a problem sleeping. I remember that I didn't sleep the 2 nights before that, so that fact may have helped.

I KNOW I'm not going to be able to sleep! I'm staying at our apartment and FH is staying at his parent's house. I was thinking of inviting someone to stay over, but most of my wedding party have children, so that's not do-able...plus I think I'll really enjoy a night alone!

I didnt I tried to but I was too excited and I had one of my BMs share my room I cat napped during the night still managed to party all night though so I guess one night of broken sleep does not affect me too much.

I had no problem sleeping; I did what everyone told me not to do and got drunk the night before  I spent my last night as a married woman sleeping in a bed with my cousin, wearing my best friend from high school's clothing. I had a great time, and felt great the next day, so I'm not complaining!

I hadn't planned on it; I didn't have a bachelorette party, so a few of my friends decided we'd have one that night after the RD. I didn't complain; I hadn't seen one of my friends in four years so I was happy to party on down with him!

I'll be in a hotel after the rehearsal dinner with my cousins and my sister (MOH). I really just want to catch up with my cousins - they're my best friends.
There will be some champagne involved, so I'm sure I'll sleep!

The only thing that has me slightly concerned is the fact that my mother has pretty much told FH he has to sleep at his parents the night before the wedding because of the whole supersitous "you can't see him right before the wedding" reasons. I was NOT thrilled about this. I'm a creature of habit and I sleep terribly if he's not in bed when I go to bed, so I can't imagine getting much sleep the night before with him being gone.

I had friends and family tell me this and I told them where to go and how to get there, He will leave in the morning and that was the end of the topic.

I drugged DH to sleep with benedryl.. I was up packing late, but then slept fine. I slept in my own bed with DH and Cornflake, that is why I slept well. Had he not been there or had I not had at least Cornflake there, I would not have slept most likely.

I was so tired from all that planning and the RD. DH went out with his friends after the RD. I went back home and hung out with my family. I made myself lay down in bed at 11pm to attempt to sleep. My sister slept in my room that night and my mom came in and talked for a while, and I stayed up until 2am talking, but at least I was resting and laying down. I automaticly woke up at 6am that morning out of excitement. I was tired, but went on adreniline for the day so I didn't feel that tired.

I didn't sleep well! I think I got like 3.5 hours of sleep the night before! Not good, but I really didn't feel tired until it was all over anyways. I even drank a couple beers that night, relaxed, wrote in my journal...couldn't sleep!

I had some friends come over to watch a movie after the RD to relax. My MOH and her bf stayed an extra hour with me and by the time they left I was ready to sleep. It was midnight by then so I called DH to let him know we were getting married TODAY and fell asleep right after. The next thing I knew it was 7:30am.

My close friends/sister and I stayed in a hotel suite together. We ordered in room service for dinner, popped open a bottle of wine, and watched a movie. I took a long hot bath to relax myself and I with the wine it made me tired enough to fall asleep. I did wake up at the crack of dawn though, but I got in a few good hours of sleep. So that helped!

the first time i got married, i was utterly exhausted from setting up the hall til 11 pm, plus i was 6 months pregnant. needless to say, i slept as well as an exhausted 6 month pregnant lady can sleep.
i had 2 of my BM's spend the night at the hotel with me. actually Erie slept in the bed with me. Waking up to Erie bouncing on the bed at 6 am screaming 'you're getting married today!' probably didnt help but was an Erie thing to do.
