View Full Version : Should I bother?
To find decorations for the horse-drawn carriage? I figured "no" but now I realize exactly what I'm missing out on with the threads about decorations. Plus we don't get to do the "drive and honk" thing. I'm seriously starting to question this decision.

Maybe a floral garland and a sign? It certainly won't *need* decorations, but a little something might be fun. :)

I think Heather's idea is great- simple. We didn't decorate Kate's carriage but that is only because we didn't think of it! :)
Yes, I'm thinking I need something. It is tradition after all!

do whatever you want but hunny ive seen carriages and stuff for weddings and they look absolutely gorgeous not decorated
I know! But but but....gah, I don't really know how to describe it. Maybe just a sign on the back? The carriage itself is really nice, so there is honestly no reason to decorate any flowers, but I just want to announce to the town, you know?

Jumping the broom is an African American tradition, isn't it?
Jaci - Alicia (Fizbo) had a carriage. She had a sign on the back of hers. I think that a sign and perhaps a floral garland would be a nice touch. Although I think that most people will figure out what is going on, most don't use horse and carriage as basic transportation anymore... unless your Amish or something.
(Disclaimer: Not trying to be mean to the Amish culture or anyone else, was the only example I thought of is all)
Love the disclaimer Cindy ;) The one thing that I can think of though, is this company that I've hired does actually do a lot of work in town for the local parks. I think I'm going to buy one of those signs at a party place, that should do it.
And jumping the broom is also a celtic tradition.

Jaci - I would check with the company you're getting the horse and carriage from - some of them already have JUST MARRIED signs available...and you might want to just provide a ribbon in your wedding colours :)

...while you are checking with the carriage company, you may want to ask if they even allow you to decorate it.
