Our Wedding Story

Sorry so late I have had problems with the home internet connection. Give me a little bit so I can post my whole story.

That Morning

About 8 am I woke up at our lovely bed and breakfast it was p beautiful day but I had a lot to do. We had to go downstairs and have breakfast, that the owner graciously moved 30 minutes ahead so we could get to Ashton Villa so we could get the tables moved and get everything out and set up. Breakfast was delicious, Stuffed French toast, eggs, sausage, and some nice fresh fruit. It was so delicious. After we were done with breakfast Chris, Chris, Kellie, and I went to Ashton Villa to start setting up. I had family in town that came over to help set up so it did not take just the 4 of us all morning and up till the time that we needed to get ready. It was all done in about 3 hours. The rehearsal hall was so beautiful I was proud.

Chris and I were the last ones out of the rehearsal hall before the wedding (we had to wait for Chris’ dad with the margarita machine). We went back to the bed and breakfast and chilled out. I took a shower, dried my hair, sat on the bed and ate a sandwich, and relaxed for about an hour and a half.

That Afternoon

Then the relaxation was over it was time to go back to Ashton Villa to get married. Kellie and I left the bed and breakfast to head to Ashton Villa so we could get ready for the ceremony.

Chris, Chris and Chris’ sister stayed at the bed and breakfast and waited for their hair stylist to style both Chris and his sister’s hair. Soon after the hair stylist arrived Chris and Chris were on their way to Ashton Villa while his sister finished getting her hair done. They arrived a few minutes later and hung out downstairs in the A/C while I was upstairs in the sweat box getting my dress on.

I asked someone what time it was and I was told is was getting close to five o’clock, including Chris and Chris so we could get this show on the road.

Chris’ sister also showed up around this time after many phone calls asking her to please hurry. We shuffled everyone outside, including Chris and Chris so we could get everyone set before any of my bridesmaids came out. I turn around in the banquet hall and my minister is sitting at a table behind me. I glance at her and ask, “Shouldn’t you be with the groom outside?” :headscratch: “Oh, right…”, was her reply, and she shuffled along outside.

At this time, my calm, cool, and collective demeanor completely disappeared and the nerves kicked it.

Oh mah Gahd, I’m getting’ married. Then the music started and away we went. We decided that we didn’t want to go with the normal wedding processional music, as we are far from “normal”. Our processional music was “Nothing Else Matters” by a four piece cello Metallica cover band called Apocalyptica. Our bridesmaids and groomsmen started filing out.

First out was our friend Thomas and Chris’ sister.

Finally, the moment of truth. As my mom and I are walking into the garden and towards the arbor, she says to me, “My feelings towards Chris were well known, but now I see, he makes you happy and you make him happy. And there is love in your eyes that will last forever: Keep it and cherish it.”

At this point, I proceed to bawl my eyes out well not really I wanted to but I did not want to ruin my make-up. (This is one of the few times I have worn make-up around Chris.)

I come around the corner and catch eyes with Chris, and the first thing I think, “What the hell did she do to his hair? He looks like a schmuck…” But, fortunately, he was a cute schmuck, so it was fine. ;)

My mother was the one that gave me away. She put my hands in Chris’ and that’s where the fun started. Our minister opened up the ceremony with a bit of humor. She started by saying, “Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday.” After which, all the fans of the Princess Bride began to crack up.

Because the minister was in the house until I asked her to go and stand with the groom, she was not miked, so no one could hear our vows.

The Toasts

This is the Best Man's speech we really liked it. It was all about growing as a couple.

Then His Dad had to say a couple of words. In Chris' word "He has been waiting 26 years to say this." He almost made me cry. His dad said "We have seen Chris grow with you and seen him become a man. He was born in to the family we have to love him but we chose to love you."

Awwwwwwwwww you guys seemed to ahve a blast! Everything turned out beautifully. i especially loved your flowers! My sister says if she ever gets married (21 and never dated, kissed a guy, or even held a guys hand for that matter) she is doing the "mawage...mawage is what bwings us togever today" LOL so it is cool to see someone else do it! I'll have to tell her.
