I LOVE the dress twin threads, I always have. But they always make me a little sad and a little jealous, because I know I will never have one. :sniff: I know there are others like me, so:

My dress was from David's Bridal. I'm not sure the style number, but I do know it was discontinued right when I bought it. I picked it out thinking it was full price, and when the lady put it in the computer the price came up as $250!!

I haven't seen any semi-dress twins for the dress I had replicated, either. (Maggie Sottero's Capri Lynette) But I haven't been looking...

I am making a sheer organza bolero to wear in church, since it will be December and techically I'm not supposed to have my shoulders exposed.

Mine is following closely the darker one, the sleeves won't be quite as long, and the fabric is Ivory Bridal Satin. I haven't found good edging for it yet, but I'm hoping to find celtic edging.

S'okay. I think all the women in this thread do. If there's one thing I've learned since I started looking at gowns, it's that bridal models are mostly sickly and wretched looking. (A lot of them look like you could never hug them, because you would undoubtedly impale yourself on their collarbone.) There are exceptions, but most of the time the real brides look a lot better in them. It's amazing how many dresses I'll see on a model and think "yuck!". But I can see that same dress on a real person, and think it's gorgeous.

The overskirt, bodice, and over-bustle will all be emerald irridescent taffeta, and the underskirt, ruffle, and under-bustle will be silver dupioni. I'm going to make the overskirt shorter and I might add a short sleeve and finish off the ruffle so that the edges aren't so - well, ruffle-y. I'm starting the skirt and bustle as soon as FH attaches a stand to my dressmaker's dummy.

That looks very similar, but it's almost the same price as David's was charging. I ended up getting a very simple one-layer elbow length one. I'm wearing an updo, and the veil will just be under that. It's really more for my mom (You'll look like a bride!). LOL But before I bought it, I did scour eBay. Thanks for looking, though! :)

Your veil does sound pretty and if you want to add flatback rhinestones w/ clear superglue, I'm sure you could do that, they carry the stones at craft stores. Either way, you are going to be a very pretty bride!

my gown is Jacquelin's 9116, but i can't find a pic of it online. So here is the stand in pic: a Forever Yours gown that is 98% identical. Mine will have a keyhole back instead of the deep V, but everything else (except for obvious different laces) is the same. I love it!

Thank you so much Mandy. It took awhile to get the dress to fit right (I have a weird figure) but I thought it turned out pretty nice. Plus, it helps that I've been sewing a lot of my clothes for most of my life. (Literally - after 30 years of sewing you get pretty good.)

I can't believe I've never posted in here, I've don't have a dress twin on here, but our photographer had a wedding the weekend after ours and the bride had the same dress as mine. The photographer had to laugh when she saw that and said she had never had that happen before.
