A friend is starting to plan a wedding in the Worcester area. Since I'm in the south I know nothing about weddings in Massachusetts, but want to help anyway. If anyone is familiar with MA weddings, is there a wedding blog, venue guide, or other resources that might help me? Next stop, theknot but they really stick to the mainstream ($$$) venues.

I am a Worcester girl - feel free to send her my way. I got married 3 years ago but should be able to help her out. There are no websites that I can think of, but I can give recommendations based on her budget and tell her if what/who she's looking at are any good.

Is your friend named holly by any chance?

Her name is Courtney. She is looking at Bocado and Club Maxines for the reception.

Oh. My dh's friend is getting married in that area next year. Would have been weird if he was marrying your friend. I'm not familiar with those places.

I've been to dinner at Maxwell Silverman's, where Club Maxine's is. The food was good. I've never been to Bocado, though. It's in a REALLY seedy neighborhood, just so she's aware. That's part of the reason we haven't gone there.

What about other vendors? Does she have any ideas/a budget yet? I have a few of our vendors that I would totally recommend to her.

And Jillian, where in the Worcester area is your friend getting married?

It's DH's friend and men are no help when you ask them where their friends are getting married.

Thanks for the help! Courtney decided to go with the Beechwood hotel. Their per plate prices were more expensive than other places, but they throw in a lot of extras apparently that make it more "affordable" in the long run. Her colors are gray (bm dresses) and yellow and mom is making cookies with silver and yellow m&ms for the favors. The wedding is April 2010 so not much time left!

Do you have a photographer recommendation? I know she was balking at the prices she's gotten so far (like $5k range!!!)

I really loved my photographer. He is out of swansea ma which is about an hour south east or so. his name is Rupert whitely.

Dh's friend is getting married in worcester. I think it might be the same place as your friend. They haven't picked other vendors yet. If I hear anything I post.

Chris Wakeen (http://www.wakeenphotography.com/pages/site/1024/main_1024.htm) was our photographer. He was absolutely fabulous and we have gorgeous photos. His packages start right around $1,800. I'd be happy to show her my photos if she wants to get a better of idea of his work as opposed to just what's on his website.
