My friend is getting married in 3 weeks and because of numbers not finalized I advised her to do a buffet style wedding which I think would be beautiful and have an area where if guests wish they could sit

I told her that if we had the tables but told the guests that it was a buffet they would get as much or as little food from the buffet as they liked and could go back to the seats if they so wished or stand if they preferred.

She is wondering is that tacky?

Ladies I am too tired to think straight please tell me am I tacky

As a guest, I would prefer to sit down to eat. I really would not enjoy standing to eat at a wedding.

Are there not going to be enough tables?

Sorry my OP does sound a little bit strange. She is thinking the BUFFET itself is tacky

There will be seating. I am making sure of that. The problem is she has no idea how many she will have so I said a buffet style wedding would be better than a sit down plated meal.

:word: to Diane. They're really common around here, and I don't think they're tacky in the least :) And I would rather do a buffet well than have a plated on the timeline you're working with :( Too much room for errors!!

Okay. I was thinking you guys weren't going to do many tables without a count.

I've never been to a buffet wedding and would prefer a seated meal but I do not think buffets are tacky. Unless the food is tacky, if you know what I mean.

Every wedding I've ever been to has been buffet, including mine, so I certainly do not think it is tacky!

I prefer buffet too. I'm a pretty picky eater so it's easier, I can just not get whatever it is I don't like - which means less is wasted too.

Not tacky at all, I prefer a buffet over plated meal anytime. Less wasted food and people eat what they like. Hope it all works well!

not tacky!

I am not leaning toward buffet myself only because I have pretty severe OCD and buffets make me twitchy. But, my wedding coordinator has recommended a caterer who does buffets that is also OCD so maybe he can ease my fears lol

i did a buffet and it was awesome! DH and I both ate at our wedding b/c we got to grab what we wanted when we wanted and i think that super helped. plus we both like super different stuff so we were able to blend that and have food for everyone!

We had a family-style buffet. The platters of food were brought to each table and people could take however much they wanted. I loved it because we made sure we got something that (hopefully) everyone would eat.
