Micah and I met on Eharmony 2 years ago. When we actually met in person, we had our first date at Mike's Place and then went to see a movie (I am Legend).
The weekend right after Thanksgiving (when the Hogs lost so sadly to LSU) Micah and I returned from my parents and were watching the game. At one point, Micah was standing up and I noticed that there was a little green jewelry box on the couch. I almost said something, but something made me hold my tongue. Well, immediately I started thinking, "It's a box! It's a ring--something will happen soon." I waited the whole rest of the evening. Nothing. Then, I thought, "Maybe he will doit in the morning." Nothing. So I went on the whole rest of the week wondering what was in that box. For whatever reason, I had major willpower and did not looking at all. No peeking--NOTHING! I didn't tell my mom or my sisters or my aunt what I saw. Kate and Diane know how hard that was for me to do. I did, however, tell my entire school and just random people I met on the streets.
Wednesday night rolls along and Micah told me he was off for the weekend, so he decided he was going to come up Thursday after work. I was excited and wondered if I would get my 'personalized keychain'. (That's what I told myself that was the gift in the box) Well, Micah arrived around 10 p.m. and then one of his friends called. He was having a down night and needed someone to talk to. Micah kept apologizing and I told him it was fine. I was starting to get sleepy and was ready to go to sleep b/c I needed to go to work in the morning. Micah finally got off the phone after 1 hour and then we somehow started talking about High school. I pull out my High School yearbook and flip thru the pictures. I started to perk up and wasn't so tired anymore. At one point, Micah said, "What's that?" and pointed to the front door--he said it looked like something was out there. I told him that was just the Christmas tree lights reflecting in the glass. He told me to look again that something really was out there. Then he touched my arm and said, "Look!". I turned around and looked at his face and he was looking at me with his eyebrows up and was smiling. Then, he started jestering his head to the right and I looked down and saw the open green box with the most beautiful ring inside. I covered my face and he pulled my hands back down. Well, then I looked at him and said, "I want to hear you say it." He got down on one knee and said, "Jennifer Maxine Hui, will you marry me?" I said, "Yes!" and he said, "What?" (smiling) and I responded again. Then I hugged him and was really bawling hard at this time. We then put the ring on. It's a little small and he couldn't get it on. I said do not worry b/c I would make sure that I got it on. (I did, but it's really a size too small, so I'm getting it resized on Friday.) I immediately said that I had to call my mom and Micah said that maybe I should wait until the morning since it was about 12:30 a.m. I told him that there was no way my momma would want to wait until morning to hear, so I called her. I, of course, was right and we talked for a while. I called my Dad, who was away on business in Taiwan, and left a message for him. Then, I called all my sisters and we told them the happy news. I ended up not going to bed until about 4:30 a.m and then had to get up at 6:30 a.m. for school. It wasn't a problem because I was so excited to show my co-workers that I was at school at 7:10 a.m.
So, that's our wonderful engagement story. I was wearing my bathrobe and nightgown and had wet hair from a shower. However, I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
