First off, I just have to say Wow. I can't believe I'm actually writing my WDS! Here goes nothing :)

Our wedding day was everything that I had always dreamed it would be. Absolutely nothing went wrong during the entire day and after a 2+ year engagement..we were ready to get the show on the road!! The day was magical and filled with all of our best friends and family! It was absolutely amazing.

Alright..enough babbling! (I have mass amounts of pics so please be patient!)

Friday, July 21st
The day started off early because my MOH, mom, and I had pedicure appointments at 9 at the hair salon where we were getting our hair done the next day. MOH is a bartender and worked until around 3:30ish the night before so she was a liiiiittle tired!

The pedis were GREAT! It was my second one..but firsts for my mom and MOH. They both hate having their feet touched but loved the pedis! I got a pink sparkling polish on my toes...the sparkles shined great in the Mexican sunshine on the honeymoon! :)

After the pedis were over, the three of us headed back to my parents' house where our family was beginning to arrive!

My BM (cousin Beth) and RB (Beth's son) were there, along with my grandma and my aunt. We all had lunch before my dad and Beth headed off with Jacob (RB) to get his tux! Little did we know that it was past Jacob's naptime and he dissolved into tears and a mini-screaming fit when they tried to put the tux on him. He absolutely would not put it on *trigger Sara's first panic mode of the day*. I convinced myself that even if he walked down the aisle in his PJs it would be worth it...he's so stinkin' cute and would just steal the show!

After Jacob was down for his nap, my mom, Beth, my brother, and I went out to Nazareth Hall (reception hall) to set up the DVD player for our photo montage and to take things that we had forgotten the day before when we decorated. The hall was just breathtaking! I can't get over how beautiful it looked!

When we were finished there, we had to stop by the church to drop off my wedding dress so it wouldn't have to hang from the fan in my bedroom all night :hehe: Next it was home to get ready for the rehearsal dinner *trigger Sara's second panic mode of the day when she realizes that the day is HERE*.

The rehearsal went well. Our pastor took charge of everything...it was great to give up control! My wedding coordinator and the church's wedding coordinator worked out all the details of the next day and our videographers stopped by to meet the bridal party, pastor, etc. and to figure out where to set up the cameras. We also dropped off the bubbles, guestbook/mat, and programs! Then it was time to practice!

I made it about halfway down the aisle (the first time) before I realized that 3 (yes 3) of my BMs (along with my mother) were in tears. It was so adorable and I ALMOST lost it at that point...but once I focused on Jim and teasing my dad to get HIM to not cry, I was fine.

After rehearsal was over, it was off to eat! Our RD location was about half a block from the church so we all walked over together :) The dinner was sooo yummy, and I even got my special order of mashed potatoes (the best food ever). Everyone was having a great time...especially our RB Jacob! He sat on my lap most of the dinner and ate about half of my prime rib...he's a good eater! :hehe: ILs planned the RD and get a great job!

Out of all of the pictures we took, I was definitely bummed that we don't have a single picture of Jim and I from the RD :(

Our gifts were a big hit! Here's a rundown of what we got everybody:
Bridesmaids- Blue tote bag with their name on it, bridesmaid survival kit packed with stuff, flip flops, a Bath and Body Works candle, and necklace/earring set. MOH also got an engraved jewelry box.
Groomsmen and FIL- Pocket watches
RB and FG- Build a Bear bears (highly suggested!)
Readers- Aromatherapy kit and Target gift card
Parents- 8x10 frame for wedding pic, embroidered handkerchief for moms, engraved picture frame for my dad

After the RD, Jim and I said goodbye until the wedding and I headed back to my parents' house for the night. Jim was going to go out with his groomsmen but PROMISED he'd be home by 1 (he was staying at the hotel with his parents). Well of course he didn't get home until 3 (his mom ratted on him! :hehe: ) but at least he was completely sober when his BM finally brought him home!

Anyway I was completely exhausted so I assumed I'd fall right asleep...yeah right. I think the last time I looked at the clock it was around 2ish then by 6 I was wide awake ready to go! There was no way I was going back to sleep on my WEDDING DAY!

Saturday, July 22nd- The big day!
When I woke up I looked outside and saw that it had been raining but had just stopped. Within the next hour, all of the clouds disappeared and the weather forecaster said it was going to be 75! Something that never happens in July in Ohio...I was soooo happy! :bliss:

Our hair appointments started at 10 that morning so all the girls met at my parents' house, except for BMs Beth and Mel, who I picked up from the hotel (during which I got a congratulations phone call from Kari! :heee: ). Anyways, all the girls piled into my mom's car and we were off! We had a total of 11 people who got their hair done (including the girls, moms, grandma, aunt, FG) so we definitely took over the place when we got there :hehe: We had a blast! We drank mimosas and got pretty :) Here are the pics!

The veil was quite an ordeal! During my hair trial it went in really easily but the hairdresser just could not get it in...she finally figured out the comb was turned backwards:hehe:

Another side story: Ever since I asked my FG two years ago to be in our wedding, she has been very cautious and nervous about it. She complained about her dress being "itchy" and how she didn't want everybody looking at her. Leading up to the rehearsal she told me over and over again how nervous she was and how she didn't know what she was supposed to do. By the wedding day, she had done a complete 180 and was the cutest little thing ever. When I was getting my hair done, I kept seeing her staring at me smiling...it was SO cute! Then when it came time for the veil, she asked the hairdresser if she could help put it in. I was SO excited that she was actually getting excited about the wedding. It was a great way to start the morning.

I absolutely loved my hair! It was everything I asked for and I couldn't be happier! It didn't move all night either (Jim and I counted the bobby pins later...150!!)

After we left the hairdresser, the moms went to get their makeup done professionally and everybody else headed back to my parents' house to eat from the bagel tray that my mom had gotten. It was sooo yummy and I actually was able to eat something! (The nerves definitely had not kicked in yet!) I didn't get any pics from the lunch, but we hung out there until about 1:30 before we decided to head to the church.

The girls and I got there around 2ish (when the photog said she would be there...pics of the guys were supposed to start around 2:30). Well of course I call my brother (GM) at 2:20 because the guys are still not there and the photog wants to get things going...they are still at the hotel waiting for one of the GM to get done!! (the ride to the church takes about 15 minutes...not a huge deal but I was about at my breaking point!) After that my mom, aunt, cousin, and grandma got there and I calmed down a lot! I wish I had a picture of all the flowers together but I don't (still waitin on the pro shots!). They were FANTASTIC! I had told the florist that I had no idea what I wanted so she could just go to town. She did an excellent job! My bouquet (and Jim's bout) were mostly white with touches of blue. The girls (and the other bouts) were blue and white with touches of pink!

*Side note- While we were at the house eating lunch, I got a call from my aunt (Beth's mom, Jacob's grandma), who was in charge of getting Jacob ready (while we all crossed our fingers that he'd put the tux on!). My aunt told me that Jacob had something he wanted to tell me, so he got on the phone and said "I put my tux on and I like it!" My heart about melted. My aunt said that he was really excited to get dressed up to look like his bear (I'm telling you, best present ever!) and to look like Mike (my brother). So when they arrived at the church, I could not wait to see him! Here he is in all of his cuteness!

Actually at the rehearsal after we were all sitting down listening to the pastor, Jacob ran up to him and jumped up for a hug...it was ADORABLE. **Another side story! I forgot to mention Jim's gift to me. While we were getting ready, Robb came downstairs and handed me a box and a card. I read the card first and it was so sweet...but I told myself I wouldn't cry. Just when I was tearing up, Jim wrote "I really wish I would have written bigger so it looks like I wrote more" :laugh3: I was rolling!!! That is so HIM and it definitely helped me relax! I got a bracelet with my new initials on it that you can see in some of the pictures.

And now on to the fun stuff! The ceremony!

The ceremony FLEW by! I really don't remember much about it..I can't wait to see the video! The girls and I were kept in a back room until the grandmas and moms were seated. Then we all lined up but I was still hiding around the corner. When our pianoist started playing Canon in D (for the girls) my heart started pounding! I hadn't been nervous all day but I started to feel it then. I think it was just the anticipation of getting to see Jim and everybody else! My dad did a great job calming me down. When it was time for Kelly and Jacob to go, we all held our breath (at the rehearsal he had laid down on the floor refusing to wait his turn and walk in with Kelly...I told Beth-his mom and BM- that he could walk in with her if he was fussy). He was an angel. Kelly and Jacob held hands and started to walk down the aisle...unfortunately I havent' gotten to see any pics of it yet!

After the kids went, the doors were closed and my music (trumpet voluntary) started. That's when I started to get so excited and I started to shake! I was ready to walk down that darn aisle! When the doors opened, I was completely overwhelmed! My first look was at Jim who looked all choked up which made me ALMOST lose it. Then I started looking around at all of our friends and our family. It was such an incredible moment and I know I'll never forget how that felt. I was very proud of my dad...I am such a huge Daddy's girl and he is a huge sap, but there were no tears! Go dad!

The ceremony is a blur but the readings went over great. My aunt got a little choked up reading the Velveteen Rabbit reading but I got several compliments on the choice of reading...I'm really glad we decided to go with it! After the readings, we walked up to the altar for the vows. Jim went first and got so choked up...I almost lost it again. When he finally made it through, I was so proud of him and so excited to almost be his wife! During my turn, I focused completely on Jim and made it through fine.

Then came the rings. My turn first and of course the ring WOULD NOT budge on Jim's finger. After I struggled with it for awhile, the pastor said "Jim, I think you'd better help her before you get in trouble" :hehe: It was nice to break the tension and laugh a little. My ring went on fine, thankfully :) After we lit the unity candle, our pastor turned off his mic and told us to kiss. Well he didn't say anything to the congregation (I was expecting 'you may kiss the bride' or something) so I was completely thrown off. I just looked at the pastor and said "Now?":hehe:

After the kiss (which I don't have a pic of yet!), we were pronounced husband and wife and walked back down the aisle! It was such a great feeling!!! I couldn't believe it had actually happened!

Once we got there, our bridal party waited up by the building while our photog took Jim and I down to the grotto in the back of the building (used for outdoor weddings). We got to ride the golfcart! (Something my cousin was very jealous of!) I don't have any pics of that yet because our photog was the only one down there with us.

When we came back up, we went to the front of the building to get some BP shots. We took some really cute ones but I don't have any of those yet either *sigh*

Then it was time for us to be announced into the reception! Yay!

Dinner was amazing! We had slow roasted beef, chicken picata, garlic mashed potatoes (to die for!), red skinned potatoes, green beans, and broccoli with cheese. We got a lot of compliments on the food!

After we were finished eating and the other people were being served, our photog took us outside to get some pictures of us at sunset. I can't wait to get those back...we took some fun ones :)

When we got back inside we went right for the cake cutting. Our cake was beautiful and exactly how I envisioned it! We were using Jim's parents' knife from their wedding and the reception hall was supposed to let us use their lift to get the piece out....buuuut it was nowhere to be found. The ribbon around the bottom made it interesting too because we couldn't cut all the way through. After using our fingers a couple times, we finally got some cake out :hehe: We were nice but we did put frosting on each other's noses :heee: We had chocolate cake with raspberry filling and white cake with strawberry (according to our baker..it was not a 'cake' it was a 'gourmet creation'...seriously, he got mad when we called it a cake :hehe: )

We did the anniversary dance (but no pics) and the longest couple was Jim's parents' friends who had been married for 47 years!

We also had a special dance dedicated to our parents (Long and Winding Road by the Beatles- no pics yet!)

Bouquet and garter:
I'm really sad that I don't have any pics of the bouquet toss yet. My cousin (who just got engaged) ended up catching it :)

The garter was interesting! The whole time leading up to the wedding Jim was really nervous about the garter. He said he was going to be embarrassed to go "up my skirt" in front of my dad :hehe: Well something got into him (I think it was his groomsmen) and he went headfirst under the skirt, hands behind his back, using his teeth! My face HAD to be priceless! Here are a couple blurry ones:

After that, the DJ played a couple of slow songs before announcing the last song of the night. I absolutely could not believe the night was over! We used Adam Sandler's "I Wanna Grow Old with You" from the Wedding Singer as our last song. As soon as Jim and I started dancing, I tried to start singing and starting crying instead! I made it through the whole darn night without crying until the LAST song. :happysigh:

The scrollwork was a last minute decision..we were just going to use solid silver ribbon and not have it but then I found the scroll-y looking ribbon and decided to go for it! I'm glad I did :)

I cannot say enough about the service we received at our resort. Everybody was SO friendly and helpful, it was great!

When we arrived we got special bracelets because we were honeymooners (a very stylin' pink color!) and people were constantly congratulating us! Because we were honeymooners we got a free bottle of champagne delivered to our room, got free t-shirts that say Honeymooners on them, and got invited to a honeymooners cocktail where we got a free picture taken by their photographer! It was great!

Sara ~ You really made a gourgeous bride, and everything came out so beautiful. I love the unity candle especially, and the cake and table came out really great looking. So jealous of the honeymoon!! Tulum is always hot, we went in January and were ready to pass out from the heat (there was a little shade though), so I can only imagine what its like in July.

Sara--I dont' know how I missed these honeymoon pics! I guess I'll blame Roxie for taking too much of my time! ;) Anyway, that resort looked absolutely beautiful!!! I have been to Chichen Itza myself and really enjoyed it...although it was super hot there when I went and it was only in January! LOL Did you climb the steps to the top of the pyramid??? Mike did, but I wimped out :) I love that you got so many pics of you and Jim at the resort. We came back from our honeymoon with maybe 2 pictures of just the 2 of us. Wish I had asked more people to take our pics! Anyway, I love all of your pics!!!

Sara-We decided on The Gran Costa Real in Cancun. It's all-inclusive. We thought we had decided on Las Vegas but it was only going to be $200 dollars more to go to Cancun and we figured by the time we added in food, drinks & gambling in Vegas it'd be about the same, so we changed our plans :)

Kay- Unfortunately they closed the pyramids to visitors about 6 months ago so you can't climb them anymore :( We were upset because we didn't know until we got there! Actually, I was secretly excited because it looked reeeeeally scary and I didn't want to have to climb it :hehe: I think we asked every waiter that we had to take our picture...they all seemed very used to it, several even asked us if they could take our picture for us :heee:

Summer- Sounds wonderful! All inclusive is definitely the way to go!! It was great to not have to worry about paying for everything :heee:

Sara, I had NO Idea they closed the pyramids to visitors! We were there in January 2005. That was the highlight of the trip for a lot of the people we were with. I got about halfway up and I sort of freaked out. You just don't realize the steps are SOOOO steep until you start going up. Coming down was even worse. Mike said there was a DOG at the top. A real dog! I can only imagine seeing that dog climb those steps LOL

Kay- I don't blame you for freaking out when climbing up the stairs! They looked super scary! I had a friend who climbed it before and was telling me the way down was the worst and that they had a rope running down the stairs that you could hold onto if you wanted. Didn't really sound like my cup of tea (especially since I'm afraid of heights). I was telling Jim (before we knew they were closed) that I would make it to the top no problem and then freak out and not be able to go back down :hehe: When our tour guide was telling us how they closed the pyramids, he said he was at the site when a man died last year...he had a heart attack at the top of the pyramid and there was really nothing they could do to save him! How scary!

Joe and I went to a Mayan Royalty exhibit at the Met (http://www.metmuseum.org/special/se_event.asp?OccurrenceId=%7B546C9F24-EB5B-4705-B335-1DD9992D7656%7D) in New York City when we were there last, and a lot of the places you went were featured. How cool! Gorgeous beaches, I want to dive right in! And don’t think I can’t pick you out from the crowd in your full body (hot) bikini-bod. LOL

How about those "basketball" courts where the winner of the game gets his head chopped off...what an honor! ;)

They probably closed them due to crumbling or destruction from the elements. Think of all those feet going up and down, it probably made it worse? :dunno:
