Hi all. . . . I've been able to find lots and lots of instructions for making "Tears of Joy" packets and was thinking about making some for the wedding.

Here's my problem. . . none of the instructions I've found have the instructions for folding the tissues that go in the packets!! Has anyone seen the tissue-folding instructions? If so, please post here.

TIA -
Kirsten

The tissue packets I made used tissues out of the pocket packs, they were pre-folded. Maybe you could use those? We bought a huge box with like 30 packets in it, and used about a third of a pack per our packets. Does that make sense?

How about looking up instructions for folding hankies? Like the ones put in the front pocket of a suit jacket? There must be directions online somewhere?

the only thing I can think, is if you buy the mini tissue packs, the tissues are generally smaller. If you hold it so its horizontal and turn it on an angle so it looks like a oblong diamond, then just fold the bottom up so its flat and fits into the packet....does that make any sense?? its so hard to describe what I mean. The top of the triangle part sticking out of the packet may not be directly centered, but does that matter??? I don't know?!

Good luck..hopefully I didn't confuse you more!

Yeah, that does make sense. I could even disassemble one of those small pocket packs and figure out how to fold other tissues the same way.

Thanks to you both!

Hi Kristen

I actully made the "Tears of Joy" pouches last weekend! They came out great and the folds were very accurate. Although, I had to read the instructions 2-3 times before I understood:)

To make a pouch, crease an 8 1/2-by-11-inch piece of sturdy yet pliable paper widthwise three times: 2 inches from the top, 5 inches from the top, and 1 inch from the bottom. Fold the first flap back, the second up, and the third down to make a cuff. Center a tissue on the sheet; fold back the sides where the tissue ends; weave the flaps into one another to secure. Turn over the pouch, and insert tissues. Decorate as desired.

I used a 20lb colored copy paper (in lilac) from office depot to make my pouches. Also stapled the back fold to make it look neater.

If you'd like to print out a message/monogram/picture onto your flap.
You need to open up a word processing program (like microsoft word)
and change the page layout to "landscape." You then place whatever
text/picture/monogram that you desire all the way at the bottom of the
page (it's usually best to change your margins to be as small as
possible so you can be even closer to the bottom edge of the page).
Make sure to center the text/image. When you're folding your pouch
make sure that the first 2 inch from the top fold starts from the printed
side. You'll want to fold the text/image down so you can still see it (feel
free to modify the amount you fold over if your text/image is larger then
2", but make sure you compensate for this when you make the next
fold (if your first fold is 3" instead of 2" your second fold should be 6"
from the top approximately .. 2.5" then 5.5", etc).

Good Luck, Hope this helps!!!

In the summer my sister had been to Michaels and seen tissue packs in blue and purple with his soon to be last name initial on them. She went and bought all the "H" packs they had and said she was going to make her own tissue packs.
With leftover velum paper from a previous project she came up with this...let me know what you think...

Individual tissue pack (http://www.survival-gear.com/tissuepack.htm) for emergency sanitation preparation. Great for keeping in your survival kit. They won't last too long but they're good while you got them. Tissue or leaves?
