Fourth of July weekend we took the kids and went up to his parents cabin in Crestline. To say that I had a feeling that he was going to propose would be an understatement! We had gone ring shopping together at Robbins Brothers and I knew he had picked up the ring just before we went up to the cabin... and if that wasn't enough, he had the Robbins Brothers bag sitting on his bedside table at that cabin!
So really it was more a matter of WHEN he would do it.
Up in the mountain communities they stagger their 4th of July celebrations so that people can attend each of them. So the first night of celebration was at Lake Greggory on July 2nd. I was really hoping that this would be the location that he would pop the question because we have to pass by that lake everytime we go to his parents cabin. So you can imagine how hard it was to NOT look in the bag & box to see if the ring was still in there... but I didn't because I didn't want to ruin the surprise. We were sitting by the lake, Aedan (my son) was kind of running around driving us a lil crazy, his parents were there, the fireworks went off over the lake... but it didn't happen. :happysigh:
The next night we had reserved a patio table over looking the lake at the pizza place up in Lake Arrowhead. We talked with the very nice owner to make sure that we could squeeze in Daves parents, which he said would be fine because Aedan wouldn't really be taking up the room of an adult. There was a regae band playing while we ate our pizza & salad. Aedan was done and the band had cleared out and Aedan wanted to run around with the other kids in the open space. So I got up and got him out of the booster seat that he was in. When I turned around I saw Dave on the ground... now even knowing everything that I knew, my first reaction was still that I thought that he had dropped something so I went to kneel down to help him find it! :laugh3:
Thats when he pulled out the box & opened it! :sappy: There was even a light inside the box to make it light up & sparkle! He said, "will you" to which I gave him a puzzled face and said, "will I what"! lol I wasn't gonna let him off that easy! :hehe: So he said, "will you marry me" And I said yes... the kisses, hugs & tears were flowing at this point until my daughter (15 years old) turns and yells to everybody, "she said YES!" and then the laughs & congradulations were flowing as well! :excited:
And with perfect timing, the fireworks show began. I asked Dave why he had proposed before the fireworks and he said so that it was like the fireworks show was in celebration of us! :sappy:
What a sweet ending to a great proposal... man I love that guy! :jump4joy:
