Ok, I work at Walmart as a CSM (customer service manager) A red vest, and it totaly sucks. We are soooooooooooooooooo short staffed. My store is running at about only 42% of the staff that we should have. It is busy all the time, and I hate it.

Ok that is my work complaint for today lol

The only thing to complain about right now is that I don't have enough work to do. My boss is on vacation, which is nice, but we've totally slowed down. I've spent all week sitting and reading. So glad these boards are back so I won't be driving myself nuts over here!

Hey RDC girl, have you watched the walmart documentary?? Just curious what your thoughts are. Part of it was about how they always run the stores understaffed.

My work complaint is that I am technically an underwriter but with underwriting trainee pay because a senior manager won't sign off on my raise because of an impending merger with another company!! That and we have been slow all week but now that I found another boards site to chat on at work and pass the day, it has gotten busy!!

I'd just be happy to find a job. I was a pre-k teacher, but because my boss couldn't keep enrollment up, teachers were laid off when the class sizes dropped. I miss my kids so much :(

hm, would have been interesting to watch. We have been understaffed for about 5 months and it is the pits. Oh well one day we will be fully staffed again, even if it does take 5-7 years!

I worked at wal-mart for about 6 years, between high school and College (it was my first job after I turned 16 and worked until I started my first job after I graduated college), but anyways, on to what I was going to say. When I was working there it was getting more and more understaffed as my time went on, when I first started, there were all kinds of employees, so many that people were just standing around, as the time went on, my impression was that Wal-Mart was imposing lots of additional regulations on itself. For example, at the stores I worked (not sure if it was all stores or just the ones I worked in) there started to get more and more regulations both legal and self imposed about workers who were under 18 with only working so many hours, had to be done by a certain time each night, could only work so many days in a row. These types of things along with various other things it has caused wal-marts to be understaffed. Part is related to the interest groups keep tabs on wal-mart so close, they are over precasious so they don't get in trouble. But those interest groups are another thing I won't go into right now.

Over all I really enjoyed my 6 years at wal-mart, I made lots of great friends and really enjoyed some of the life lessons I learned there.

ok, I am done throwing my 2 cents in :)

Can I complain about Chris's work? I wish he didn't have to work so many hours and didn't have to travel so much.

Work for me has been slow too. It's been nice getting paid to plan my wedding though. After I'm married, I will probably go insane from boredom.

walleye3 - what did you do at walmart?

Our walmart does not allow under 18 to work after 11pm but we are only open till 10:00 pm so they just cant work the night crew. As for other rules and regulations I am not sure.

I have been there for over a year and I like it alot, except when I have to work by myself, I am a CSM.

Well I can't complain too much since I'm on summer vacation. But I am still rather annoyed....

I am starting at the high school this Sept. I haven't taught these classes since student teaching. My new boss (who used to be my old boss at the jr. high) said he would get me my books by the beginning of July. Haven't seen the books yet! I am going away soon and don't want to come home to 4 preps in 2 weeks plus all the other back to school crap.

This same thing happened here is Austin where a lot of the teachers did not get their books on time and some not at all. The city did not have the budget... for books! then they annouced all these raises within the city staff... anywho it was a bog mess and was quickly fixed. They need to get you those books so you will have some idea what you need to review.

RDC,

I have worked in 2 different wal-marts, Little Falls, Minnesota and Bemidji, Minnesota.

In Little Falls, MN I worked in the Garden Center and seasonl holidays.

In Bemidji, MN I helped open that store, so I helped with the hiring of employees, then I was in Grocery stocking and unloading of trucks, I worked in Bakery and also worked in the Cash room.

Both wal-marts were 24 hours for me, so that is where we got into trouble, people over 18, worked till 11 and then people who were under 18 were off at either 9:30 or 10.

My Bosses are starting to crack down on us hard and they won't be happy with me (again) when I put in for my days off for school!! I am thinking of going PRN just so I don't get over whelmed. Oh but I can't complain to much because I got the rally off and am going to earn almost $800 in one week working up there!!

Just wanted to throw my two cents in on walleyes comments. The restrictions on minors wasn't anything new. It's labor laws that were put in place a long time ago. They aren't that strict either. I had to follow them at my first job, Winn Dixie.

I have never been to a Walmart that wasn't understaffed. In my area there are lots of people looking for jobs, and a lot of them I know are applying at Walmart, yet they only hire new people when they open a new department, and half the registers are always closed. They have more contractors and construction workers working at our walmart than walmart employees. But, it's the only game in town, so i'll just stop right here, finish my grocery list and make plans to shop there tomorrow.

Everyone knows that I am getting married. They know it is NOT here in MI.

WHY on earth should someone get irritated because I am taking two weeks off for the WEDDING??

Kari: They can go to you know where..!

I am now a stay at home mom just this month. For the past four months I was an admin. Asst. for a Water company and I loved working with all the cool ladies. Well here is my beef I attended several going away parties and gatherings. Did I get one? Not even a goodbye... nothing. I was so close to these girls I thought and I guess I was wrong. I should get over it and I will in time.

I'm getting bored with my job. I'm tired of the drama and tired of the customers that are ALWAYS complaining. Not just small little complaints - big monster complaints because apparently we aren't kissing their behinds enough. I'm contemplating changing to a place where no customer service is involved :heee:

I agree the restrictions had always been there, just not enforced the way they have been within the past 5 plus years. I am really baffled at the whole Wal-mart understaffed thing, I think that is getting to much of the almighty dollar controlling their decisions of when to hire and not to hire and scheduling. I do however think it has gotten much worse since the original founder Sam Walton die several years back, when he was still alive, he would personally visit stores and talk to associates, not just the managers of the stores, but the actual employees that are making the store run. When he was alive, it was a much, much better place to work!!

I'm enjoying my summer vacation, and the only complaint I have is that I'm starting to stress that I won't have time to get stuff ready at school before school starts!

i just wish for once the stinkin' drivers would get all of their paperwork straight. I am in route settlement at pepsi, and the drivers are always forgetting something. Signatures on charge invoices, DSDs from bulk accounts, anything and everything. It just gets irritating after awhile, and I wish that they would remember, because it all falls back on me.
