Thank you rbloom. It was a lot of fun! :)
Hi hi-
Such wonderful ideas... I can't wait to actually start on my DIY projects... which speaking of.. I so need to get down to business on since the major project is the invitations, and I have to have them done and out in 6 weeks.
TTFN...
D.J.
These aren't my projects but I found some older UW threads that I had archived that had some great instructions and pics.
ridiculously easy wine glass charms
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/7690/tada4rz.jpg
6mm druk beads (simple Czech glass)
base metal (as opposed to sterling silver) 1" hoops that are actually earring findings: detail of the ends, one is flattened and has a hole punched in it creating it's own clasp later
STEP ONE: put the bead on
STEP TWO: grab the regular end with some pliers (needle nose would work best if you have them) - just 1/4" or less. I found holding the hoop right where I was going to bend it worked best
STEP THREE: bend upwards
Slip the flattened end with the hole over the bent end to secure.
Beaded Champagne Glasses
http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/8288/1228crafty9fi.jpg
Supplies
Set of champagne glasses.
Assorted mini-crystal or -plastic gems.
E6000 glue.
Toothpick.
Tweezers.
Directions: Make sure the glasses are smudge-free. Lay the crystals on a flat surface. Pick up a gem with the tweezers and hold it flat side up. With the other hand, dip the toothpick into the glue and lightly place it on the gem. Position the gem on the glass. Continue the process until the entire surface is covered. Apply gems to the stem and base if desired. Gently wash.
VARIATIONS: Arrange gems in a monogram or specific design or try embellishing the champagne bottle as well. For a party with kids, don't forget to decorate plastic glassware, too.
Marble magnets
Theme them for your wedding and give them as favors.
http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/4610/10onfridgegroup0ul.jpg
1/2" and 3/4" round (strong) magnets
1/2" and 3/4" clear flat glass marbles
silicon sealer made by the Crazy Glue people
white round of cardstock
tiny pictures
trace a circle the size of the magnet and cut it out with scissors
toothpick to spread a thin layer of the glue on the magnet, and put the picture down over that
Using the toothpick again dab a bit of glue, about the size of a lentil, onto the middle of the picture.
Lower the marble straight down onto the glue.
And press down in the center. You can see the glue spreading out to the corners making a nice seamless, hopefully bubble less, magnet.
Any of those ripples on the bottom of the marble will magically disappear.
Heart Keychain Craft
Make for BM or as favors..
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/594/236image8ba.jpg
YOU’LL NEED
Silver craft wire*:
12" length 16-gauge
7" length 24-gauge
2-3 large glass beads in desired colors
Large silver split ring
Miscellaneous items: round nose pliers*, wire cutters*
INSTRUCTIONS
1 Cut a 10" length of 16-gauge wire and form a coil at each end with the round nose pliers. Fold the wire in half, making a loop in the center. Bend the wire into a heart and cross the ends (see photo).
2 Wrap a 3" length of 24-gauge wire around the base of the heart to secure it, leaving a 1/4" tail on each end of the wire.
3 Tuck the tails through the wrapped wire, pull them tightly with the pliers, and trim the excess.
4 Cut a 2" length of 16-gauge wire and loop one end onto the split ring. String the beads onto the wire. Loop the other end around the wire heart (see photo). Trim the excess.
5 Cut a 4" length of 24-gauge wire. Bend and coil it around the beads as an accent, tucking in and trimming the wire tails.

Materials
Gallery Glass ® Surfaces - Leading Blanks
Gallery Glass ® Accessories - Tool Set
Gallery Glass ® Window Color™ - Hot Pink, 2 oz.
All Night Media ® Wood-Mounted Stamps - Brenda Walton - Amore
All Night Media ® Inkpads - Stamp-A-Memory™ - Black
Posh Impressions ® Dee's Duets™ - Small - Heart
All Night Media ® Accessories - Stamp Positioner
Ruler

Hole punch
Light and dark pink silk ribbon
Directions:
Using palette knife from tool set, thinly spread Hot Pink Window Color onto one leading blank covering as much of entire surface as possible. Let dry for approximately 24 hours.
Measure and cut with craft knife 2 each from remaining leading blanks - 3" x 6" piece and 4" x 8" piece. Score all four sections down the middle for fold.
Using stamp positioner, center and stamp 'Amore' onto all four 3" squares, and the outline heart from the Duets stamp onto each 4" square. Let dry.
Punch three holes down each open end of stamped leading blanks. Tie corresponding sized ends together with silk ribbon as shown to create one 3" square screen, and one 4" square screen.
When window color is completely dry, carefully measure and cut out 4 squares 1 3/4" and 4 squares 2 1/2". Place cut out squares over stamped images on screens as shown to complete.
Place a glass enclosed candle in the middle of each screen.
Save the date magnets
Another from Martha Stewart
http://img351.imageshack.us/img351/5443/wst13084000201l5wi.jpg
You’ll never forget your own wedding date, but it doesn’t hurt to provide your guests with a hard-to-lose reminder.
Begin with an image that you consider emblematic of your wedding; we used a postcard of a chapel. Enlarge or reduce the image on a color photocopier to the size of precut adhesive-backed sheet magnets, leaving room for the details. Affix slips of paper bearing your names and the wedding date to the image to create a template of the finished product. Using a color photocopier, produce as many copies as you will need, and trim to size. Glue each label to a magnet, and mail.

Champagne Gel Candles
from Todays-weddings.com
http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/7268/gelcandle6ti.gif
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR ALL PROJECTS:
Champagne Flute (Do not use thin glasses, as they can break)
Clear Candle Gel
Coloring - Amber and Cola Brown (or red if you want to make pink champagne)
Thin (but long) Wax Coated wick with metal tab
Sticky Tabs (or hot glue - hot glue is harder to do in a flute)
Candy Thermometer
Metal Pan and Spoon
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS:
ALWAYS WATCH YOUR PAN WHEN IT IS ON THE STOVE AND MONITOR THE TEMPERATURE AT ALL TIMES.
Prepare your champagne flute. Clean and dry completely.
Remove 1 of the paper tabs from a sticky tab and stick to the bottom of the round metal wick tab.
Straighten wax coated wick. Remove other paper tab and place the wick into the flute. Do this very gently until you have it in the middle. You can then press down with a pencil to fasten.
Melt gel in a metal pan.....constantly monitoring the temperature not to exceed 210 degrees...slowly. Add coloring tiny amount test to make sure of the color in another glass. A couple of tiny flakes for each candle.
Put a little gel on the wax coated wick only. Straighten it but don't pull the wick out. Let cool a little.
Pour the rest of the candle....keeping the wick straight.
Hold the wick straight until it is formed. Or use a long clip to keep it straight. If the wick moves out of place your candle is ruined.
Let your candle sit overnight before lighting. Bubbles will form in the gel to make it look more like champagne.
PLEASE NOTE: The hardest part is getting the color right. Make sure of the color BEFORE you pour. It will look a different color in the pan than it will look in a glass. You can test it in a clear votive cup or any clear glass.
Bath Salt Favors
http://img302.imageshack.us/img302/4507/lcnw2152356cf.jpg
* Computer
* Scrapbook paper
* Scissors
* Rotary cutter, cutting mat, and ruler; or paper cutter (optional)
* Decorative-edge scissors
* Corked glass bottle
* Small funnel
* Lavender bath salts
* 8 inches of 1/2-inch-wide seam-binding ribbon
* Small lilac paper rose found in most crafts and scrapbooking stores
Instructions:
1. Type the names of the bride and groom in a row across your computer screen. Use a font and a size that allow the names to fit comfortably within a 1/2-inch-wide strip. Print the names on scrapbook paper. Cut out the row to measure 1/2 inch high and 8-1/2 inch long. Retrim the bottom edge using decorative-edge scissors.
2. Coil the strip, print side out, into the bottle. Fill the bottle with bath salts and add the cork stopper. Tie ribbon around the cork and dab with glue at the knot. Place a small lavender rose on the knot. Trim the ends.

Votive Placecards
Supplies:
Plain glass votive holders
Light -medium weight transparent vellum
Laser printer
Good scissors
Double sided tape
Tealights
Directions:
Step One: Measure your votive holders to determine the approximate height and length around. Using these measurements, make a template of the shape of your label. Note that even the most plain votive holders will have a slight curvature, so expect the template to be in an arch shape.
Step Two: Using the approximate measurements, set up your MS Word (or any other graphic program that is useful for printing text) document to space your guests names and table numbers the right distance. In my case, I got 3 to a page with room to spare.
Step Three: Print out your document. Use the template you made in step one to cut the right shape out of the larger sheets of vellum. Set the labels aside.
Step Four: (get a friend to help if at all possible) Set up a big workstation with all your votives, labels, double sided tape and scissors. Wrap one label around the votive and trim accordingly. When the label is lined up correctly, it will lay relatively flat. Apply the double sided tape and put aside. Having all of the candles in front of you will allow you to keep a consistent appearance of the candles and give you a preview of what they will look like all lined up at the wedding.
Tips: Have candles lit no more than 30 minutes before your guests come to pick them up to ensure they are all still burning when the last guest leaves your reception.
Tip: Using tealights in place of votive candles will result in the candles getting warm but not too hot to touch. However, there is melted wax inside the votive so better to keep away from children.

What You Need:
11x14-inch wood frame with glass and backing
Fine-grit sandpaper
Gold and silver metallic acrylic paint
Paintbrush
Delta Ceramcoat Fine Crackle Finish, Steps 1 and 2
2 stainless steel cabinet pulls 4-3/4 inches long that can be screwed to the frame from the outside
11x14-inch handmade paper, gift wrap, or other decorative paper
Double-sided adhesive tape
Delta Archival Quality Photo-Safe Glue
Memorabilia, such as gift tags, invitations, photos, theatre tickets, etc.
Flat ornament, such as a crocheted or paper snowflake or a brass ornament
8 to 12 inches of gold ribbon
Bits of dried baby's breath and maiden-hair fern
Crinkled shredded paper strips (from a party supply store)
4 to 6 spring-type clothespins
11x14-inch piece of felt (optional
Instructions:
1. Carefully remove the backing and glass from the frame.
2. Use sandpaper to roughen the surface of the frame if it's varnished or painted. Wipe off the sanding dust.
3. Paint the frame silver, applying two or more coats if necessary. Smooth the painted surface as needed by rubbing it with a grocery bag or kraft paper.
4. Apply the crackle finish, following the manufacturer's directions.
5. Lightly brush on gold paint, then rub off the excess, leaving gold highlights. Brush gold paint on the silver pulls and rub off for similar highlights on the pulls.
6. Center one pull on each short side of the frame, as shown in the photo, and attach with screws.
7. Secure the handmade paper to the frame backing with double-sided adhesive tape. Arrange memorabilia on top of the paper until you are pleased with the design. To hold large pieces in place, use small pieces of double-sided adhesive tape or dots of glue. Anchor large ribbons in the same manner. Arrange baby's breath and ferns, and scatter shredded paper bits across the design.
8. Place the glass on top and clip the backing and glass together around the edges with the clothespins to allow you to hold it in place as you turn it over to set it in the frame. With the back of the frame facing you, place the piece, glass side down, in the frame, carefully removing one clothespin at a time as you ease the glass and backing into the frame. Push the pins or brads that came with the frame back in place.
9. If desired, secure a felt rectangle to the back of the frame with double-sided adhesive tape.
Note: Choose a wooden frame with a flat outside edge that is at least 3/4 inch wide. When purchasing the pulls, take the frame to the hardware store so you can be sure the pull fits the edge.
bridal shower towel cake from http://www.superweddings.com/
http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/5720/towelcake12so.jpg
Supplies Required:
2 Bath Towels
Decorative Soaps
2 Hand Towels
String of Pearls
2 Wash Cloths
Small Wedding Rings
Narrow Ribbon
Small Silk Roses
Pins
Large Silk Flowers
Cake Plate on Pedestal
Carved Soap or Candle for Topper
Instructions:
Making the towel cake is easy! Here's what you do...
1. Fold each bath towel in half lengthwise twice. Roll into a tight coil and use pins to anchor.
2. Join second bath towel to end of first with pins. Continue coil, pinning at the end and tying layer with narrow ribbon to secure.
3. Use hand towels for the second layer and wash cloths for the top (rolling each layer the same as the bath towels). Use pins to help keep each layer stable.
4. Decorative soaps can be tucked between layers, small silk flowers attached to the ribbons where they are tied. Drape the pearls on each layer. Add wedding rings with little bows around at random.
5. At the top, use carved decorative soap, a carved candle, or large silk flowers for the topper.
6. Encircle the bottom of the cake on the plate with large silk flowers. These can be done in the color of the wedding party.
7. For the best presentation and appearance, the towel cake looks lovely when placed upon a pretty Cake Stand. This can be included in the gift for the bride, or it can be provided on loan on the day of the shower for decorative purposes only. Click herefor an online selection of cake stands.
Lacy Luminaries
I think these are gorgeous!!!
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4307/luminaries4dz.jpg
Give the decorations at your wedding reception the romantic look of lace. The intricate patterns shining through these luminarias (paper-bag lanterns illuminated by votive candles) are courtesy of doilies glued inside. Place a grouping of the lanterns in different sizes on the guest-book table or dinner tables for a beautiful, glowing display. We chose ivory paper bags for an understated look, but you can use thin paper bags in any light color. Set the candles in heavy-glass votive holders to help anchor the bags. You will need:
Light-colored paper lunch bags in various sizes
Ruler
Scalloped rotary cutter
12-inch gold-colored doilies (white ones won’t show through as well)
Utility knife
Scissors
Glue stick or Xyron sticker-making machine
Votive candles in glass holders
Utility lighter1. Lay each bag flat; use a ruler to guide the scalloped rotary cutter as you cut a new top edge 1 inch below the bag’s original edge. 2. To cut doilies to fit the bag, lay a bag flat on the work surface. Lay a doily on the bag, and determine where to cut in order to create a pleasing design. Cut straight lines with a ruler and a utility knife; use scissors to snip along curves. The final size of the doily should be 1/8 inch narrower than the width of the bag so the doily will lay flat inside. 3. Coat the gold side of the doily generously with glue from the glue stick, or coat it with self-adhesive using the Xyron machine. Attach doily to the inside of the front of the bag, positioning it as desired. After gluing, close the bag, and run your hand firmly over the design to seal. Open the bag, and let dry at least 1 hour. 4. Set the bag in desired location, and then put the votive candle, in its holder, inside. Light the wick once the candle holder has been securely placed; do not carry the lit luminaria.

PurpleFlower/belle67 - I have to ask - how easy/difficult is it to do the etched glass?? I was thinking that it would be nice to have personalized glasses for the wedding party ... but how difficult is it to make the stencils??
Our DIY projects - so far, the STD cards are the only thing that is complete (but I still have to attach the knots!):
http://www.jerandkathy.com/kathy/UW_Photos/STD_UW_Smaller.jpg
Lots of projects underway though - all of the wire is twisted for the photo holders/place cards, cards are cut for a small geeky gift to go inside the wedding crackers, toilet paper rolls have all been collected (300 of them in just a few months - thanks to FMIL and her networking of toilet-paper-roll-collecting friends!) for the wedding crackers, monograms are designed and partially printed for invitations, CD Label template is designed for STD CD's and for Rehearsal Dinner favours, and all of the tags are cut out for the guest book/wish bowl!
Lots of projects planned but not yet started - fortunes/love sayings to go inside the crackers, invitations (prototype is done but none of the design yet except the monogram), FLOWERS (I'm making them, and have no idea what I want yet!), centrepieces (computer mouse with cutout for small candle or flowers), wish bowl container...and I'm sure I'm forgetting something but it'll come back to me soon

I found it quite easy. I just used regular etching cream and contact paper for the stencils. I think a simple design would work better than one with a lot of detail.

I ordered some flowers and if I don't like them when they come in then I will buy three wilton french rose bouquets and redo them to my own bouquets :)
Gotta make some kinda favors..Not sure what I am doing there yet.

Thank you miss sparky! And Thanks mrrr! I didn't post my programs here cause after running out of things to do I re-read them and apparently forgot how to spell check or proof read before printing and assembling them all. Boooooo! :( But, I get to redo to occupy my time! HA HA!
