I want to register at target and at a place like Macys, I mean we have lived in our house for a year now and i have a lot of stuff that people usually register for. i have a beautiful set of pampered chef everyday dishes...etc.
but i do want to register for things like a nice iron (mine was $5 and I need automatic shut off cuz i am always forgetting) a vaccuum (I want a Dyson) a nice toaster (we have a single slice $5 toaster)....the idea of registering for a few nice kitchen pieces...like my dream all clad, some le creuset, a spaghetti pot i really want, a roaster which i dont have and would love (i love to cook and am dying to take on bigger challenges) we also need some quality knifes (our set was $15 at walmart and they break right out of their plastic handles)
anyways...oh, and i would LOVE LOVE a food processor, again, for my cooking and that benefits the groom a lot and often.
ANYways, Joe is afraid that we will register for too much and he would perfer monetary gifts over other things...
Anyone run into this problem with their FH? I told him we have to have some sort of registry and there will be a shower...anyways, hes being such a pill about it when I try to talk to him....

James did NOT want to register at all !! I had to talk him into it, but once I gave him the scan gun, I got to use it VERY LITTLE .
When we printed our invitations, James wanted to put the info in there. I said "NO".. He pointed out then it was going to be a waste of our time cause no one will know.
Maybe 5 people at tops know about the registry.. We couldn't print it in the invitations or go around telling everyone..
So if you register, make sure you find some way of telling people about it or it will be a waste of time like ours.

I did the whole registry deal when we got married and I dont think anyone ever even looked. But what did work was, I put my mom's phone number on our reception folder and did the "if any questions please call" then I gave her our wish list. Pretty much every call she received was someone asking what we needed or wanted. It worked out well. Side Note. DH only verbally participated in the registry deal I did all the work

My DH didn't want to register at first either... He was convinced we had just about everything we ever needed with the crummy kitchen tools and hand me down dishes he owned. :D
He eventually warmed up to the idea....
One thing I did notice from my wedding is most of the gifts that we got were given during the shower and we got very few gifts for the actual wedding... we were mostly given money.

We actually got the bulk of our gifts at the shower. There are a few items left on the registries, but I know his family tends to give monetary gifts for weddings......and my family knows we'd prefer money over anything we have left on the registries, so I'm guessing that's what'll happen....
It's always good to register for those "upgrades" to get as shower gifts....good luck convincing him!!!

Ken didn't really want to do one but once I told him some of the things we could put on there he was ready to go. In fact when he was back this weekend, we walked through target and he even pointed some things out that we might need to register for. It was cute. Just tell him that he can put one thing that he really wants on there!!:laugh3: That is what I did too! Anyway we are going to include where we are registed in the invite. Hey I live in SD and most people expect it to be included. It is a pain to have to call and bug some one to find what they want when you can go find out for yourself. (just my opinion)

Brian is looking forward to registering! Maybe even more than I am. He's more into cooking than I am, so he's all over new things to use in the kitchen. I would just like a little say in the dinnerware ... he wants black or something dark, and I'd prefer white ... we'll see how that one goes.

I told Scott that I was registering us at these certain places. If he wanted me to register anything to let me know. Otherwise I was going to register for things that I wanted in the kitchen and in the bedroom, places like that. We have also been living together for 2.5 years, so we have alot of things. I just would like more better quality stuff.

Mike didn't want to register either...I made him and we ended up getting more money than actual gifts anyway...I just thought they should have the option not to give money. I just bought the stuff I really wanted with the money and we saved the rest like he wanted.

That's strange that some of your FH/DHs didn't like registering. My FH LOVED it! He had such a great time picking things out! It also helped that he was in charge of the scanner, so I think he scanned my butt most of the time to stay entertained
i am the one that doesnt want to register the normal way and Preston is the one who wants too. we are going to do a honeymoon registry or just get help with the honeymoon. we have EVERYTHING that we need for an apt and then some. I would rather have fun stuff during the honeymoon. Thats the kind of stuff that i will always remember.

Jason was the same way. He thought we had everything that we need. I convinced him to come along and look though promising him that he could use the registry scanner. He had a blast and thought of a ton of things that we need.
But then we deleted the registry because Canadian Tire is going through some management issues here and a lot of stuff is being discontinued and changed so we're going to wait a little bit longer, and start over.
Dan didn't want to either. I got him drunk one day and talked him into going RIGHT THEN!
The funniest thing is most of the stuff that was purchased off the registry was stuff HE wanted and added.
