Fall/Autumn [Archive] - Must Love Weddings

I know there have to be some other brides out there who have used the fall theme for their wedding or who will be using it. This looks like a good place to post those ideas we may have or requests for help finding things to fit the theme.

I'll be using fall leaves instead of flowers in the centerpieces. Michael's has their fall stuff up now and I was able to get a bunch of fall leaf garlands to use for decorations. I'll also be using fall leaves instead of flowers for the FG.

My wedding is in November, and while our wedding colors are red and white, we'll be using the beautiful fall foliage as the backdrop. Here are some pics I've got on my trusty computer :)

Hi, I'm getting married September 30th and we are using a interesting mix of colors combined with a Fall theme. I'm having a hard time incorporating my wanting Pink & Brown BM dresses in with FH wanting light blue tux vests and then having a FALL themed reception! :laugh3: BUT, I think it'll work out!

This picture is our inspiration pic for colors for the wedding. It'll be rust, brown, orange, pink and blue. I know, it's a LOT! :lol:

I can't find a decent photo of them, but I just saw in the Martha Stewart magazine, an ad for Pumpkin Patch Mix M&M's. They are SO cute!! They are orange and brown, with little pumpkin faces on them - would be absolutely adorable for a Halloween or autumn themed wedding.

For anyone that might be interested, I wanted to use a lot of fall leaves with their color intact to scatter at the ceremony/reception site, and found this method to preserve the color (my wedding is in November, so everything will be brown by then!)

Take fresh leaves (preferably pull them off the tree rather than off the ground, so you know they are still very fresh), and place them on a single layer on 2 sheets of paper towel. Put another sheet of paper towel over them and microwave them for 30-180 seconds- I used 50 seconds to get perfect results and my microwave is very new and very powerful. Took me about an hour to do enough leaves for all the centerpieces plus some to scatter around the cake and gift tables. Let the leaves sit for 2-3 days then spray them with an acrylic sealer (you can get this at a craft store, basically just clear spray paint). I did a glossy one to give them a nice shine, but you could do matte or stain too.

This works super well- here are pics from the leaves I microwaved a week ago- sealed them on Saturday. I sprayed a foil covered cardboard cake circle with spray adhesive and stuck the leaves to it to be used as part of the centerpieces:

I love that acorn cake!!! And just as an update- the leaves held their color even a month after microwaving, so it is definetly a good technique. We had enough for the centerpieces, plus some left over to scatter on the cake and gift tables.

Thanks! Nope, no scent at all. They looked really nice on the tables but the only problem was that our guests didn't realize they were the favors and theirs to take! Whoops!
