View Full Version : Your Wedding Day Transportation

So I've seen that more and more brides are opting NOT to use limos.
What are you all using for transportation on your wedding day?
We've gone the traditional route and will have a limo. :jump4joy:

We are using 4 new cars borrowed from me (my new SUV) both my parent's cars and a BM's car. I am working on the decorations right now so all the GM's have to do is attach them. :) We are getting married in a small town where literally you could walk everywhere so I didn't see the need for a limo for us.

Our ceremony and reception are in the same place, so I'm not sure I'll need anything too special, although I've been thinking that depending on how we plan the honeymoon, I might want a van or something to take us to the airport, since the nearest reasonably priced one is at least 2 hours away...hmmm...

My Dad drove me to the venue in the SUV my parents rented to help get my extended family around. We didn't have transportation from the ceremony to the reception since they were in the same place and from the reception to the hotel we had a horse drawn carriage ride throughout downtown.

My sister (MOH) and her boyfriend (GM) are paying for our transportation. We just booked it earlier this week and I cannot wait to ride in it!
It's a 10 seater Chrysler 300 Hemi

My father has a Lincoln, so I imagine I'll probably arrive in that and when we take a short jaunt off for pictures I imagine we'll take that because my dress will probably only fit in that car....
Transportation isn't too important to me because we're having our ceremony and reception at the same location.

My folks drove all of us over to the venue, and since the wedding and reception were at the same place, we didn't do anything fancy for transportation. I did get my car decorated at the end of the reception, though!

We'll be using a SPECTACULAR white Ford EconoWHALE van  Jer's van is accessible, and seems the best option for us...hopefully we can find some sort of chaffeur so I can ride up on the lift in my dress, and sit in the back with Jer :)

07-16-2006, 07:52 AM
I really LOVE the SUV limo, but they're so expensive! It would cost us almost triple to get that as opposed to a regular limo, and I wasn't going to pay that much for a ride to the ceremony and reception. :giggle:
QueenElizabeth22
07-16-2006, 02:56 PM
Well, we are still deciding on this...We have about three hours in between our wedding and reception and I would love to be able to have the entire bridal party ride together to get pics taken at a few different locations and maybe stop for a cocktail or two along the way:party3: HAHA
It is looking like the best option for this might be a big limo or maybe even a party bus type of thing!

It depends on which sites she chooses but I think it would be so great to use our town trolleys to go from the wedding site to the reception site. :)
I can't find any pictures of them but hey, you know what trolleys look like.
Theresa

We used a limo to get to the ceremony, but then we used white trolleys to take us and our guests from the ceremony site to the reception.

We haven't figured out how we are getting to our wedding yet..
We are havin wedding/reception in same place.
Limo would have to drive 2 hrs to get here and way too much $$$ . Plus a waste of money. We live 15 minutes away from our location.
I would love to have something in the way of a classic restored car to drive home in (picture oppurtunity) but I don't see that happening.
I will have to take off my petticoat to get in any vehicle to go home. Can't imagine getting in my suv or james truck with all that :)

07-24-2006, 02:53 PM
We used my dad's 1972 blue Camero. My dad drove me to the Church in it and then DH and I drove it to the reception. The bridal party drove themselves.

We thought about renting a limo at first, but the hotel we are staying at is 3 miles from the reception, and I'm not paying some outrageous amount for 3 miles! We might rent a big SUV for the day, so I can transport my girls around that morning, then we'll drive it to the hotel that night.

No limo for us either. Ceremony and reception are at the same place, we will probably ride up in my step-father's truck (more room for the big honking dress, plus its a new super-clean truck), and hopefully we will be leaving in FFIL's mustang! I love that car.

There are no limos where I live. Fh was thinking about using his Kenworth semi truck. I would like to use some kind of nicer car. A semi truck has to be spotless before I am climbing in there in my dress. We will see, we still have time to get something together.

We didnt do anything special. I rode with my mom to our site and I cant remember now who had my car. But we had everything in the same spot so at the end I drove my car to our hotel. I cant remember for the life of me how my car got there. hmm....

Fh's sister & boyfriend are getting us a limo... and it will be driving us all the way home (at there request) I think they want us to drink and don't want to have to worry about driving home.
I can't wait... I've never been in a limo :D

Our reception package includes limo, but only to bring the bride to the ceremony and then the bride and groom to reception. Since we are getting married at the reception site, I may try to convince them to bring the groom to the ceremony and then pick me up. We need to get our own transportation back home.

I wanted a horse drawn carriage to take us from the reception site to the hotel we're staying at on our wedding night. I think it would be fun to go from there to the hotel through Houston at night in June, but we'll see.
We may go out after our reception ends at 9:30, so who knows.

This is what we're hoping for.
http://www.odyssey.on.ca/~millar.nicol/images/auc_05a.jpg
Since the location where we're taking pictures is close to the church I think we'll rent this horse drawn carriage for about an hour after the wedding. Other than that we'll just use a regular car. It would be silly I think to drive around the whole city with this.

We had my parents bring us, but Nate got a town car to take us back to the hotel... didn't cost much for a one way trip- we just basically had to pay for an hour of their service. Like Amber said- we just wanted to relax and let someone else drive us... we were going to get a ride with either our best man or one set of parents, but it was more romantic this way, and really inexpensive overall.

My dad took his truck and food and left earlier. My sister (maid of honor) rode with her husband.
My husband took his truck so thats what we rode home in and it was the vehicle that got decorated.

When we get married, Damian INSISTS on a Dodge Viper...its well over 1000 for the weekend, but its gunna be well worth it because it will be his dream. For the others in the WP we want to rent a limo, however, if its WAY outrageous then we'll just rent a few cars of the same type and purtty them up :)
For my best friends wedding just this past october, they used two rented dodge magnums. Brad *the groom* suggested two burgandy ones but they said he would get what was there and get what he got...guess what he got? yeppers the two burgandy magnums. They matched the colour. I made signs with those puff ball things and just married and i forget what the other one even said and then on the bride and grooms car they were in, they decorated it with that festive type wire...it had leaves on it in a rusty orange colour and red

We used a limo.. we went back and forth about whether to use one or not because our reception site was only about 10-15 mins. away from the church, but we ended up getting oen anyway.. the limo driver drove us around for awhile so it wouldn't be a complete waste.. he was really nice.
We rented a car just for the two of us and had the bridal party in 2 SUVs. Dan and I wanted to have some alone time after the ceremony and we were arriving at different times, so we just rented a car.

We didn't do anything fancy :( We drove away in Chad's car. There was a HUGE blizzard the day before the wedding. Since we lived about an hour from where the wedding was taking place, we ended up unexpectedly staying in a hotel that night. Everything was so confusing and jumbled!
It was pretty dang funny though. Chad was SMASHED. I was not. I ended up driving us back to the hotel, in my huge gown. My dress was literally OVER the stearing wheel it was so fluffy! It was quite the sight!!

We ended up just using our car. A Intrepiod. Its a nice car. We had it cleaned and detailed before the wedding. My dad drove my mom and I and bm to the hall in it. Then after everything was over, fh was under the influence of beer, so he couldn't drive home and I didn't think I could drive home in my dress, so we got my older brother to drive us home....how romantic hey??

We're renting a Cadillac or similar luxury car. It's way cheaper than a limo, and we'll have it from Friday (the day before) until Monday. I like that we'll be able to drive it to the hotel ourselves after the wedding, and we'll still be able to look classy :)

If we have money in the budget for it, I would LOVE to get one of these for the ride to the hotel since it will be a good 20 - 30 minute drive. However, it costs $500 for 2 hours. So if we can't afford that we may go with the bottom picture. The stretch limo they offer for $200 for 2 hours.

our ceremony and reception are in one place and everything else we'll possibly need day of is within a mile - so no fun transportation for us!
plus, i'm going to get ready on site, and FH might as well....
(by everything i mean it... hotel, hair place, nail place, two starbucks, einstein brothers, liquor store, grocery stores, walgreens, and our apt!)
Actual pictures of the carriage and us! Though I gotta say that I was extremely disappointed by the care of the horses feet (he needed a trim BADLY!)

We've thought about getting a limo but I'm not sure what we'll end up doing. The ceremony site is only about a mile from our house and the reception site is about a mile from there.

I think we are probably going to use my car or his for when we leave. The ceremony and reception are at the same venue and unfortunately we are the ones that have to set everything up, so we have to be there extra early! We are also the ones who have to get everything cleaned too...

We're not completely sure yet, but we may get bicycle rickshaws for us. They rent at $60/hour/per rickshaw. www.raleighrickshaws.com. The hotel is about 4 blocks from the reception. There will be enough non-drinkers to make carpooling pretty easy for everyone else I think.
