This is mine. It means to world to me since it was my mom's e-ring from my dad. It means more to me than if my FH would've gone to buy some expensive ring :)

Here it is with my wedding ring too. There is a very interesting story behind my wedding band...you can read the story in my journal on page one. It too means more to me than you'll ever know, mostly becuase of the way it was brought into our lives. :)

When I was younger, I really wanted a round diamond with blue sapphires on either side. Then one day we walked into Tiffany's and I saw the ring I wanted. It was .75 carat round diamond in the middle with round diamonds all the way around with a matching wedding band. I fell in love with it but the more we were looking, the more I noticed Nick really like the 3 stone engagement rings. I thought they were nice too but it wasn't the ring I saw. So, at that point, I decided that whatever ring I got, I would be happy with because he picked it out for me. So, when we got engaged, I had no clue where this ring came from. I had never seen it before ever!!! I ask him, where did you get this ring from? He told me that it was his great aunt's wedding ring that his great uncle designed especially for her. We figured it is about 60 years old. The only thing that is different about my ring is that the center stone before was set in the ring and now it is popped up a bit so it looks like an engagement ring. I am more in love with my actual ring now than the Tiffany's one just because it is a family heirloom and it is so unique.

I picked it out -- I love, love, love, LOVE my e-ring! Michael found the diamond and had to have me come see it (eve thought he wanted it to all be a surprise), and then we picked out the band the next day and I got it two months later!

We're getting my wedding band made to match it -- something we'd probably have to do anyway because my ring size is a 3 3/4!

Here are a couple of pics of Tanya's rings :)
It is a princess cut center diamond around at .75 cts, then has 3 small round diamonds on each side of it, it has a matching wedding band that consists of 8 or 9 small round diamonds on it similar to the sides on this one, I don't remember the exact number. Between the e-ring and the wedding band they come to just under 1.5 cts of diamonds. They are set on white gold.

This is my bling. I have yet to get a really good picture of it, but I am still working on that. Bruce and I happened upon this ring when we were just goofing off at the mall one night. I fell in love (in september 04), he put it on layaway, paid it off (may 05) and proposed (march 06). It is a pink tourmaline oval cut center stone with 28 diamonds in the band. I love it because it is so unique and beautiful!

Apparently, Patrick had been planning the proposal for a couple of weeks, but he had to move fast. We have a shared bank account and he knew that if I got the bank statement before I got the ring, he would have some explaining to do.

I didn't pick it out. He didn't even know if I would like it. I dropped him a few hints about what I liked. White gold, nothing too big and I have to say that he did a pretty good job of getting it right.

I love my engagement ring - it was a total surprise to me and I had told Jer that it wouldn't matter to me if he put a rubber washer on my finger as long as he asked the important question :)

Well, he asked the important question, and I was in awe over the ring...and then he proceeded to tell me that it was his grandmother's ring :) I started bawling (again) at that point :) And just about starting bawling again when Jer's Dad saw the ring on my finger the next night and got a little twinkle in his eye and said "Yep, that was Mom's".

DH and I purchased the stone for my e-ring together, and he then picked out the setting himself. I did let him know ahead of time that I absolutely wanted yellow gold for the band. He did an awesome job, and I couldn't possibly be happier with the end product.

The stone is a 7.75mm princess cut London Blue Topaz. There are four round diamonds channel-set in the band on each side of the stone.

I love your ring!! Do you mind if I ask what the carat weight of the center stone is? We're planning on adding to my e-ring (mine is a 1/4 carat princess solitaire) and I have some round diamonds of my grandma's to add to it, and was just wondering what size yours was to get an idea. I wasn't sure if mine would be overpowered by them or not.

I don't actually know what the center stone is. I think it might be in the area of a 1/4 ct, but might actually be a little smaller since the entire ring is just under .7 cts. Sorry I can't be of much help :( Dan doesn't even know the tcw of my ring, lol.

That's ok! That gives me an idea though. My FH doesn't know the tcw either, I'm just assuming because I have another 1/4 ring and it looks exactly the same size it's just a different cut. I'm just assuming it's in that range. I just never thought to do that with the diamonds around the solitaire till I saw how gorgeous yours was. I may have to be a slight copycat!

James proposed with a ring that came with a set. Then afterward we found out the THIN THIN (about the thickness of a dime) band of gold that came it couldn't be resized. Plus once worn with the ring you would never know its there.

my ring size is like a 4 1/2

James wanted us to have MATCHING sets..so my old e-ring will be eventually resized to wear on another hand.

wow. i completly missed this thread.

the story behind my ring is quite simple. i love white gold and pearls, but wanted something different than a white pearl. in the end i decided i wanted a tahitian "black" pearl because i love the mirror shine they give off as well as the color that changes from blue to green.

we decided to buy our rings while in the states (about 1/3rd of the price as in sweden) so i was involved in the complete process. (the proposal came as a suprise though)

The story behind it is a I saw it online long before we ever got engaged and fell in love with it. I wanted to get engaged. I wanted that to be my ring. I'd leave little hints about that being *the* ring around the house. He started hinting that he was finally going to ask me.

He popped the question. THAT was not the ring I got. Okay so I was a little bummed about the ring but I got over it. The other ring was pretty and it wasn't about the ring but what it symbolized, whatever, I wore my other ring with pride. And then....one night he re-proposed. He was all giddy lol and presented me with this ring..the ring I wanted since before we got engaged as my e-ring.

I like having something non traditional...the *only* reason I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't have went with something a bit more traditional is b/c the ring doesn't give off the status of being engaged or married really...and it will be a b to find a wedding band to go with it.

That is very pretty! And I like that it's non-traditional. I personally think that as long as it's on the right finger, it shows that you're engaged, and it doesn't matter that it's not the usual diamond solitaire. My ring *which I still need to post a pic of* isn't a diamond either, it's blue topaz - but I love it and wouldn't want anything else. All that matters is that you love it :) And about finding a band to match ... I'm not going to bother finding one to match, I'm just going to switch my e-ring to my right hand when I get my wedding band. Maybe you could do that too :)

I used to work for Kay Jewelers and we used dishwashing detergent with windex in the little vibrator machine then used a soft toothbrush. May sound a little gheto but that's what I've been using ever since and it works great for me. :D

The diamonds do not go all away around the band. They stop with about room for maybe three or four more. One of the bands we have looked at to go with it had the option of having them go all the way around, but I am afraid I would have a better chance of knocking one out that way knowing me!

My ring (both an engagement ring and wedding band, didn't want two separate rings) is a celtic sort of puzzle ring with a GORGEOUS sapphire. We had our rings custom made so I got to design my own. My DH's ring is the same weave but has a solid gold band on either side.

The setting in this picture isn't what is on it now. The jeweler took some artistic liberty and added the gold setting, so DH had it reset in in an white gold v-prong setting for Christmas this year.

Here are my rings (they are sodered together). My wedding band is just a plain white gold band, Garth's matches. BUt my engagement ring is .42 carat ring round diamond. It's white gold, because I can't stand yellow. It's exactly what I picked.
