View Full Version : Are you or FH/DH immigrating?
My DH is immigrating from the US to Canada. Woe to me and him both! If you are going through the INS level of hell, or the CIC level of hell, vent it here. You aren't alone!

:wavey: That would be me! I'm immigrating from Canada to the US.
Jer and I decided to go with an immigration lawyer. No, we can't really afford it, but we can't afford the stress of not crossing t's or dotting i's and having to change our wedding date etc... And we've found a great lawyer who is more than willing to work with us on a payment plan!
So, I'm on vacation and going to see Jer in about 8 days and 3 hours (but who's counting huh?)...and we're going to see the lawyer to get started on paperwork while I'm there :) I can't wait until it's official and I can move - I think that will take alot of stress off of me! And once the move is complete, that will be alot MORE stress off of me. Then the biggest stressor will be the wedding :lol2:

Hey Kiki? If FH is moving from the US to Canada...and I'm moving from Canada to the US...do you think they'd let us just SWAP? It would be sooooooo much easier, and it makes sense - population wouldn't change :D
I'm all for it! I'd really love to get together with you sometime Kathy! We could vent about all our immigration woes over Starbucks!

*shock, horror*
How utterly unCanadian of you!
Starbuck's and not Horny Tim's?
Ha! Tim's doesn't serve Iced Chai Latte....yet.

And well, Tim is apparently a regional thing too  Out West it's near impossible to find Tim (although he's there, but Starbuck's and Second Cup are there 3-1 over Tim!)
Where 'bouts in Quebec are you Kiki? PM if you want :)

You can't get refills at Tim's or Starbucks?
 Ha, I kill me sometimes...

My FH is immigrating from England on a K-1 visa. We got the visa in six months, did everything ourselves, and never had a problem. It felt like ages, and was torture, but looking back it wasn't that bad and went very smoothly for us. So glad I didn't hire a lawyer, it was too easy to pay someone else to do it!!! But very stressful, I will admit.
He will be here September first :jump4joy: - I have not seen him since January.

Hi all. . . remember me? I finally had a day when I didn't have to schedule time to visit the bathroom.
He immigrated and we're trying to stay sane while we plan the wedding. Anyone have news to share???

This Friday will be two years since I sent that first email to him and changed our lives forever.
It's been a very very long road for us, and we will both be so glad to see the begining of a road, finally traveled together. :bliss: :bliss:

Liza - that's exactly why I'm so excited about our wedding. Not just because we'll be married, but because I know the heartache and headaches of being in a long-distance relationship will be over, and we can finally start living OUR life together :)

I hear ya. . . I am so busy with the wedding and trying to keep bills paid that I haven't even had time for all of that Alphabet Soup stuff. I need to get on that, too, so that we're ready on 9/5/06 . . . or whenever we get the wedding certificate.
The good news is that my work is about 10 minutes from the local INS office. If they need me there right away I can be there right away.
Oh, and yes, Zack has been here since June 20.

Hey all :) I'm a citizen of South Africa, FH is American, but my status is stable (I've been here for 11 years and I have a green card) and I'll get citizenship soon enough. I've been doing this immigration stuff for ages, and I wanted to lend support to you guys!
