i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about seating?
we are having a small wedding of 46 people. the tables are all rectangular and i have no idea where to put people.

does anyone know of any guidelines for who should be sitting up at the main table? etc?

thanks!

If you are having a head table the traditional seating is
best man
groom's mother
bride's father
bride
groom
bride's mother
groom's father
chief bridesmaid

however we did it
Jr Bridesmaid
Bridesmaid
Maid of Honour (only the maid of honour and bridesmaid switched as my jr bridesmaid had a strop. )
bride
groom
Best man
Groomsman
Groomsman

Then we did out seating arrangements
The top two tables nearest the head table
Celebrant
Brides mother
Brides father
Grooms sisters
and flower girl
and MC

It was the longest part of the day sorting out table seating plans but as we had an unusual wedding it was the best way to go

You could also do just a sweetheart table if you prefer

well, if you still need ideas -

we did a sweetheart table, and near us we had 4 tables. We have 3 sets of parents between us, so they each "hosted" their own table. The fourth table had my great-grandmother, grandmother, and her siblings at it. Our BP sat scattered throughout the room, and were seated with their family and friends. Our distant family and friends of our parents, co-workers, etc were seated at tables the furthest away from us.
