Well everyone! The time has come for me to finally write our WDS! I've read so many others and dreamed about my own, but now that it's time, I fear it may be a bit scatter-brained, so please forgive me :).

I'm going to start things a little differently. I'll be posting the story itself first, then heading to the pictures.

Friday, November 10

The day before the wedding! It was an incredibly hectic day, full of frantic cell phone calls, confusion and headaches. I woke up extra early that day, knowing there was so much left to do. My best friend (and one of my co-maids of honor) was staying with us in Madison, while my mom and aunt were in Johnson Creek (about 45 mins away). Nicole and I got up, got something to eat, then headed into Madison to get some last minute stuff done with my mom. We meet at Hobby Lobby and had about 3 hours of work there. We bought pretty much everything that day. We were all stressed, confused and anxious, but we tried not to let it get to us. After we finished up there, we parted ways: my mom and aunt went back to Johnson Creek to bake and decorate as much as they could, while Nicole and I went to the mall to get our nails done.

At about 4:00 I got a frantic call from Chad. He was worried about us since he didn't know where we were yet. I told him we were still getting our nails done and he warned me about the roads. It had been raining earlier, but it had very suddenly turned into s snow storm! As we walked to our car (Nicole is from FL, so she's never seen snow fall from the sky before) we were met by a HUGE amount of traffic. We made it home in about 30 mins (we live a few blocks from the mall), changed SUPER quick and headed into Lake Mills with Chad for the rehersal dinner. It was pretty crazy--the beltline was moving at 5 mph...it's usually about 75-80! We were literally crawling the entire way there. We ended up being about an hour late to the rehersal!

After we got there, we ended up running through everything twice. I was crying most of the time. It was a combination of finally getting married, and just getting over the stress that seemed to have been mounting. My SIL was causing problems from the moment we got to the church, so much so that our Pastor had to take her outside and talk to her. It was so embarassing. We made it clear though that that kind of behavior simply wouldn't be acknowledged, and that seemed to do the trick ;).

We ended up grabbing a hotel in Johnson Creek so we wouldn't have to go all the way back to Madison in the snow. It was great just getting to spend a little more time with our family and friends (all our OOT guests were at the same hotel). We got to relax in the hot tub and just de-stress. We headed to bed early and got as much sleep as possible...we had a big day ahead of us! :)

Saturday, November 11

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! I woke up bright any early (Chad got to sleep in) and called my mom first thing since she had offered to drive us around since Chad was going to need the car. We met downstairs for breakfast and just enjoyed the last of the non-crazy time we had.

After eating literally a bite of bagle, it was off to the hair appointment. With all the moisture in the air, my initial idea of a half-up, half-down do was simply not in the cards. So, when I walked into the spa, I had no clue what was going to happen. Luckily, I had an AWESOME stylist and she was perfect! I got my hair done and had to go IMMEDIATLY to go an eye exam (my last pair of contacts tore the night before the wedding and my Rx expired last month!). So there I was getting my eyes checked with my hair done. I looked rediculious! When I got done, my mom wisked my back to Lake Mills to get my makeup done.

After everyone was all pretty (my BMs looked AMAZING!) we headed to the church to get ready. I finally got to put my dress on! I was SOOOOOO nervous. I had my girls help me get into it and it just felt magic. I couldn't believe it. We waited FOREVER for the guys to get ready and head out (I hadn't seen Chaddy yet). We all went back into Madison to get our pictures taken at the state capitol.

Once we were there, I was kept from Chad. I was waiting in the hallway leading to the rotunda, while Chad hid behind a marble post with his back tword me so he couldn't see me. I was walked out into the rotunda where I waited for him. I knew which post he was behind and I could hear him, but I still couldn't see him. I just wanted to see him so badly. For some reason, it felt like as soon as I saw him, everything would be fine.

Finally, the time came. Our photographer gave us the go ahead and Chad stepped out. I finally saw him. He looked amazing. I started bawling. I couldn't believe this was actually happening. We just held each other for what seemed like an eternity. He kept telling me how beautiful he thought I was, and I couldn't stop looking at how amazing he looked in his tux.

We spent the next 2 hours getting some photos done, then parted ways to meet up at the church again. My MOHs and I ran to my apartment looking for a sash for my BM, but we couldn't find it. So, we had to go into David's Bridal (with my dress and veil on!) to buy this stupid sash. Literally the entire store stopped and came over to look at me. I got to thank my consultant though (she was the greatest!). After that brief disaster, we caught some taco bell and headed back to Lake Mills for the ceremony.

THE CEREMONY

At about 7:00, it all started. The groomsmen lined up and Chad walked in. I could hear the processional start and watched at the girls walked in. Finally, Trumpet Voluntary started, and I knew it was my time to finally walk down the aisle. I grabbed my daddy's arm and we started the walk. There were so many people there, but the only person I could see was Chad. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's the truth. I can't even remember much of the ceremony...it was such a blur!! I do remember our neice (and flowergirl) came up to me during a quiet part of the ceremony and asked "MANDY!! What are you doing?!". I looked back at her and said "I'm getting married!". Apparently, everyone could hear it and thought it was adorable.

After the ceremony was over and we were pronounced Husband and Wife, we started to walk down the aisle. Little did I know that our neice wanted to grab my veil and ended up almost ripping it right off my head!! I was pulled back and almost fell over. She started to cry because she was so confused. It was painful, but cute ;).

After that, it was time for some more family pictures (man, did that take FOREVER!) and then on to the reception!!

THE RECEPTION

Not too much to tell here. Our DJ was kind of a loss and ended up not playing most of the songs we wanted played. We had a great time dancing, singing, and eating though. I actually didn't get a chance to eat or drink much at all, and definatly didn't get to drink anything alcoholic. The Lambda guys (Chad's fraternity brothers) were all there and ended up singing 'You Lost that Lovin' Feeling' to us--it was hularious!! Our fathers gave amazing speeches and our bridal party made an awesome tribute. It was great just finally getting to relax and let everything just happen.

After the night was over, I was SO tierd and just wanted to go to bed. I ended up driving Chad and I to the hotel (in my HUGE dress which was over the stearing wheel!!).

All in all, it was beautiful and I loved it. It was great to finally get to be done with the stress and get to look forward to our honeymoon.

Aramelle--nope :( No funfetti. Chad's step mom made our wedding cake, and we had asked her to make it Funfetti, but she made it red velvet instead. We were fine with it, it just sucked that she ignored our request because she thought it was "sophmoric". :rolleyes:

LOL! Funny you should mention that. When my mom was married, her veil caught on fire during the unity candle. Chad and I were making jokes the entire time about something going up in flames, so we were laughing the whole way through the lighting :).

I love the pictures of us together when he's kissing my forehead and looking into my eyes. For some reason those just give me chills.

At about 2:00 on the day of the wedding, the bridal party got their pictures taken at the capitol. It's absolutly stunning in there! It was a lot of fun, and it was cool because tour groups were taking pictures of us!! LOL! We'll be in some stranger's pictures!
