Did you use decoy rings on the ring bearer pillow or the real thing?

We are using the real thing. My nephew would know if we used decoys, and I'm not about to insult his intelligence like that. He's really proud of his "responsibility". :p

I haven't totally decided yet. I most likely will be using decoy rings.
I have two ring bearers, one is the MOH's son, the other is the best mans. Because of that is the one reason I may use the real ones. They will just give the pullows to their parents when they get up the aisle. (I will have one ring on each pillow).

I'm using a decoy. My RB tends to throw stuff and well I don't want my rings tossed but I don't want to not have him being the RB so that's my safest bet ;)

My RB will carry the real rings. He's seven so I'm not worried at all.

I think it depends on your ring bearer. It's not uncommon for ring bearers who are very young, or a little flighty, or maybe have a touch of the ADD to carry decoys, while the MOH and/or BM have the real rings. I've seen it done quite a bit. I've seen some ring bearer pillows even come with decoys already attached. It just depends on how responsible your ring bearer is, and whether or not you trust him to keep track of your rings. Especially with outdoor weddings and such, if the rings get dropped, who knows where they will fall.

No they don't. A lot of RB carry a pillow with fake rings or just a nicely decorated pillow. If your RB is really young are you going to have him be responsible for your wedding rings?

Our ring bearers were 2 and 4 years old. There was no way we were going to put the real ones on them. :hehe:
Turned out that the 4 year old, my son, walked part up the aisle and then ran to the back of the church. I'm glad we didn't have to have anyone chase him for the ring. And I was worried about the 2 year old! :laugh3:

Our "aisle" was a quarter of a mile, or more, so I used decoy rings. It was an outdoor wedding, and had the rings gotten misplaced, we probably would have never found them. My BIL had them in his suit pocket and we used fake ones on the pillow.

We used the real rings. But my RB is 7 years old and very responsible. He had also been in a wedding before, so he had some experience. Plus, I forgot to get decoy rings.

Our RB had decoy rings...ring-size silver hoop earrings, actually! He was 6 years old and was also responsible for pulling my twin two year old nephews down the aisle in a wagon. He had enough precious cargo to worry about without giving him the real rings!

When my best friend got married, she had her RB carry her and her hubby's promis rings on the pillow, and the BM had the wedding bands in his pocket. I myself am not planning on putting ANY rings on the pillow. Partly cause the RB will be a little young, and well, he doesn't always like to listen to adults, so there's no telling what he might do that day. I'm praying for an out-of-the-blue good behavior that day!:happysigh:

Well, my RB will only be 13 months old at the time (the FG is walking him down the aisle or pulling him in a wagon), so we are definitely using decoy rings.

I think even though our ring bear is going to be old enough I still want the best man and maid of honor to have the rings!

I actually have a really cute story to go with what we are doing. When I asked my 2 cousins if they wanted to be rb, they both said sure. But then they thought that they were going to be carrying rings for themselves and the flower girl. So we are going to be putting rings for the fg and rb's on them and the best man with have the real things.

Our RB carried the real things, but he was older (8) and just carried them up to the alter and then set them down on a pillar we had. There was very little time for them to get lost!

I think we would have let our son carry the real rings but we started to think about tying the rings on tight and then how do you get them off the pillow fast enough so we just went with the decoy!

funny you should say that. At DH's neices wedding they had obviously tied the rings on too tightly when the bride and groom asked their guests for a knife. They actually had to cut the tie that was holding the rings :giggle:

Our ring bearer was older (8ish) but I was nervous to have the real rings on the pillow because there is a LARGE heat vent/grate at the back of the church. I just had Bad images of the ring coming loose and falling down. So, we bought two rings at the $1 store...I wore one of them while my rings were being soldered, and then we just tied them to the pillow for the day. Not that I didn't trust my RB, just not the floor of the church!!!

I think it will really all depend on the ring bearer(s). It all depends on how old they are...their maturity level and so on...

We are definately using decoy rings becaue our RB will be 2.5 at the time and right now he is in the stage of throwing things and hiding things and I just have this fear of Chase hiding our rings and not being able to find them.
