How We Got Engaged:
Will has been stationed in San Antonio, TX for almost two years now so in March I was going to visit him for a long weekend. Prior to me coming he told me that he was going to plan a nice evening for us but that it was going to be a surprise and all I have to do is bring "nice clothes". Well, he doesn't normally do things like that so I was so anxious to find out what he had in store. The thought of a proposal did cross my mind, but we had talked about it so much in the past that I didn't think it was ever going to happen...I didn't want to get my hopes up. He ends up taking me to this really fancy resturant overlooking the riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. The food was amazing and dessert was the best I've ever had. We even got a complimentary glass of champagne from our waiter who kept asking what the special occassion was but Will just told him I was from Cali so we're celebrating. Anyway, I thought it was just dinner and we were going back home but he said there was more. After dinner we went walking downtown and the whole time I was thinking where is he taking me?? As we're walking down the street I see a horse and carriage turning the corner. "Oh, how cute!!" I said. Will said, "You see that horse & carriage...that's where I'm taking you". My jaw dropped because I've always wanted to go on one of those and he remembered! So, as we're walking up to our carriage one of the guys who worked there asked what the special occasion was...all night strangers kept asking us that question, it was so crazy. So, Will and I are on the horse and carriage and it was so beautiful...perfect night, perfect breeze, lights, everything. Then Will starts telling me how much I mean to him and how much he needs me. He told me he loved me so much and that I'm an amazing woman. And, he doesn't want us to be away from each other any longer. Usually we'll talk about our relationship and how we feel about each other, but he normally doesn't talk about it so much at one time. Then the carriage comes to a stop and he grabs something out of his sock, gets down on one knee in the carriage and says, "Crystal, I love you with every fiber of my being...will you marry me?" OH MY GOODNESS THE FLOOD GATES OPENED UP AND I COULDN'T STOP CRYING!!! YES!!!!!!! I shouted. The biggest diamond I had ever seen close up was now being put on my finger...all I could say was OH MY GOSH and we gave each other the biggest, longest, tightest hug ever. Then Will says to the conductor "she said yes!" The conductor was so sweet he said we almost made him cry! MARCH 17, 2006 approx. 9:00pm Will and I became engaged!!! Yes, on St. Patty's day!
