I use 360Share.
It works great and I have had no problems. :)

I have a subscription to Napster. For $15/month I get unlimited downloads. I really like it!
$15 a month isn't bad! Is there a contract--like you have to sign up for so many months?
emusic is cheaper than napster, but they don't have all the well-known stuff.

I just download form musicmatch. It is like $1 per song, cheaper for whole albums.....I have treid a couple of other sites too.
I used wal marts site once, I had three free songs from there, and couldn't get the songs to download no matter what I tried.

I use Itunes to download music but then I just put it all on my Ipod anyway...
Yeah, I seen a couple that were about a buck a song. I wanted something cheaper than that since we'll be downloading almost our entire playlist for the reception.

Nope no contract! It's pretty nice. There are a few artists that they don't have on a per song basis, for example Dave Matthews one on of my favorites but they don't have his songs free but you can purchase a whole album of his for $7.99 or $10.99. I would look into it!

Yahoo Music-99¢ a download -Does NOT work with IPOD
Itunes-99¢ a download-Alot of songs are in mp4 format which is mostly compatible with IPODS and some newer mp3/mp4 players.
Walmart Music-88¢ a download-not sure what format their songs are in-never downloaded from here yet.
I use Yahoo Music to download music since their files are compatible with my player and my computer.

When I signed up with 360Share it was $45 (I think) a one time fee with unlimited downloads.

How long is it good for? Lifetime?

Yes it is. :)
I signed up for Napster but I was pretty disappointed. I loved the music selection but didn't realize that it still costs a $1 per song to burn to a CD! I guess it'd be okay if we were using an ipod for the reception, but we're not so that won't work. I think I'll look into the 360share. I also heard about limewire and eres, but don't know much or if they're any good.

I hated Limewire.
The connection was terrible and I could never find what I was looking for.
Just my :twocents: :)

I had a 50 free downloads from emusic and agree they don't have much that I've heard of. I've found a few I really wanted but am going to cancel it after my free ones. So wouldn't recommend it.
Well, I tried the limewire and I'm not happy with it. We could download it to our computer, but not to the MP3. This seems to keep happening. I need it to be able to download it to a MP3 and burn a CD. Belle, does the 360share allow you to do this or is there an extra cost?

Hmmm, well when I download from 360 it dumps it into it's own folder. From there I can move the files I want into my MP3 player (ipod).
And for buring onto a CD, I just open my CD burning program and am able to pick while files I want to burn from the 360 folder.
Doing any of these do not cost extra. Does this help? :)

I just want to say that you shouldn't use Ares, which is like Limewire ... it helped my old computer get TONS of viruses. I hope 360 will work for you :)

Good point about viruses Kathy.
I always run my virus scan after downloading just in case. I have never gotten one from a music file but I have a few times from application or program files. That is why I always run it. ;)

I've used iTunes (because I was given credits as gifts), Limewire, & Bearshare. I also always check for viruses after using Limewire and Bearshare.
Good luck!
ETA: That I am able to add the music I download from Limewire and Bearshare into my iPod; by doing what Jennifer does.
I messed around a little with limewire and ares. I didn't like either one. I downloaded 360share and so far so good. Seems as though everything will work with downloading music and burning it to a CD. Thanks!

Great thread - lots of great information :)
Limewire = Spyware Magnet :errrr: The program itself is picked up on most of the anti-spyware programs out there now, so definitely avoid Limewire.
