I was 45 and he was 51. He was married for 25 years before me and I was married for 15 years before him so I suppose we also qualify for the second time club. I am happy to report that after 5+ years, it is still wonderful! :wiggle:

Second marriage for me, first for him. We're currently 39 and 36 respectively. We've been batting around dates and I told him that it would definitely be before we moved into a assisted living facility. LOL!

I'm glad this thread is back.

Now, that is a die-hard Dale Jr fan! Hey, why not invite him and see what kind of response you get? :hehe:

Cindy
07-18-2006, 05:06 AM
Lisa, I'm sure that Chris really likes the B*dweiser commercial where Dale Jr. contemplates changing his number from 8 to 6.7? LOL I love that one.

07-18-2006, 08:32 PM
I was 33 and he was 43 when we got married. It was our 3rd marriage each but you know what they say...3rd times a charm. We tossed around ideas of when and changed them alot and finally when it all fell into place we planned and carried out the wedding in 34 days. We were pronounced 4 minutes before midnight on NYE

carolinalady67
07-18-2006, 08:38 PM
Rosebud, that is an idea. Since we are getting married during racing season I'm sure he will be busy but it would be fun to have a card or something back from him to put in the scrap book.

Cindy, we both do love that commercial. There would be many things in our house that would have to change if he did change his number or color! Chris is a member of the PVA (paralized vets) and they got together with Tony and Petty to do dogtags as a promotion. I asked Chris if he wanted a Tony one. You can imagine his answer LOL

My girlfriend and I totally agree with you on that one! Women change alot in their 20s...and we decided that women shouldn't be allowed to marry until they're over 30, because what you want at 18 or 25 is completely different from what you want at 30

angie
07-19-2006, 11:01 PM

Sometimes if possible its best just show up in person, its easier to get their undivided attention when you are in their face, lol

And sometimes you make it work. Circumstances happen and things happen. I took my vows as seriously when I said them 18 yrs ago as I do today. Once I was married and had a baby, what I wanted in life became what I had. Everything I did and wanted from that point revolved around my family. I feel blessed to have met the man who would be my life partner so young. Sure there have been struggles, sacrifices and even arguments but that would happen whether you are 40 or 20 or whatever age. My focus when I was 20 was not on partying or hanging with friends. It was on being a wife and mother and making it through college. I don't mind I missed the drama of high school or the single life. We have no exes to deal with and from listening to stories I am so happy about that.

Life is what you make of it. Marriage is a part of life.

KathyandJer
07-21-2006, 02:19 PM
I totally agree with you yogi...unfortunately those differences/struggles/sacrifices are sometimes too large to overcome for some people!

Congratulations to you and your husband - 18 years is an incredible accomplishment!

Venus, your wedding is a week away :bliss: :loveshower:

Are you all ready? Excited?

I think I'm ready although if you've seen my journal you will see my recent blunder. Im very excited but due to our other project going on at the same time Im not having a lot of time to think about the wedding right now. Thankfully my mom and sister have it all under control. My fear is that with everything going on the day is going to be here and I'm going go thru it in a daze.

Cindy
07-22-2006, 09:54 AM
Nah, you'll be fine.

Me, on the other hand... I'll be freaking out. ;)

carolinalady67

Does anyone have a wedding coordinator? Or planning on getting one for just the wedding day? I'm already freaking out about how everything will get done that day.

Cindy
07-22-2006, 08:16 PM
Nope. I'm delegating. I have a dear close personal friend that has warmed up to the wedding now, so he will be coordinating things for me that day I'm sure. Every time we talk, he says, "Now what are we going to serve at your reception?" He cracks me up!

Does anyone have a wedding coordinator? Or planning on getting one for just the wedding day? I'm already freaking out about how everything will get done that day.

I had also heard that appointing someone to be your go-between on that day is a great idea. Someone that you trust to make decisions for you, when necessary...and someone who will NOT phone you everytime something is not going exactly as planned (we don't need that stress ON the day!).

I'm hoping to ask someone to be that go-between for me. Someone who will know where everyone is supposed to be and at what time...and everyone will be instructed to contact THEM if they're not sure of something instead of me  That's when I may go Bridezilla - if someone has been told a dozen times when and where and still have to ask

We're having a wedding coordinator the day of the wedding. She will be there for our ceremony & reception, which is in the same place. It was part of our wedding package.

well I qualify in the over 30 for both of us. I'll be 8 days shy of my 35th b-day and FI will be 37 1/2. it will also be both of our 3rd marriage, it's true that 3rd times a charm ;)

also I am planning on hiring a day of coordinator, I don't want the stress on me or my family and friends that day.

Well ladies, this is my last online post as a ms. Tuesday when I come back I will be an official Mrs. I hope everyone's planning goes wonderfully. I cant say that Ive had too much drama in our planning, but I think the credit for that goes to my mom & sister who have taken care of so much. Made some of the last minutes triple checks today, flowers, dj, cake lady etc. I think we are (as taco bell would say) "Good to Go"

I just noticed that in the everything else boards they set up a group chat forum. Should we be moved there? That is where they have the G&G threads. Just a thought. Might be easier for others to find us. One of the community leaders can move the thread if we want them to.

Hi everyone! Not engaged yet, but expecting to be by the end of the year. Is it ok if I post here too? I've been reluctant to post too much about wedding planning and such because I'm not actually planning yet, but it's never to early to start, right?

I'm 35, will probably be 36 when we get married, this will be my first marriage. My boyfriend is Roy and he's 30, he will probably be 31 when we get married. He was married before, and has 3 kids from that marriage.

pretty much... I went to fed ex/kinkos last night and printed the seating chart and mounted it... then when I got home I sprayed it with gold fine glitter.

Still need to pick up 2 burgundy candles... & re-dye my hair this weekend... so it's just a waiting game now

Hi Vanessa

Cindy - The glitter is really pretty I did a great job if I do say so myself *wheres the pat yourself on the back smiley*

Kathy - The poster board that I had was 26x20 so I think our setting chart is 24x18. I just took a legal sized paper to kinkos and they blew it up for me. I'll try to get a pic the day of cause I didn't get one and now FH has it so I won't see it again until the wedding.

Vanessaness
08-24-2006, 01:40 PM
Question:

Any of you have kids? What part are they playing in the wedding?

I have two girls ages 10 and 15. My oldest will be my Maid of Honor. My youngest wants to be the flower girl I think more a jr. Brides Maid but as time goes on I'm thinking having her as a flower girl even though she's getting kinda old wouldnt be a bad idea. I know of one girl who had her sister age 26 be her flower girl. And its something she really wants to do so why not? :dunno:

Vanessaness
08-24-2006, 01:44 PM
Kat I'd love to see a pic of your seating chart. I need ideas. :)

I was thinking of having mine set up like a cluster of grapes and each grape is a table. Then naming each table after either a local wine or one of our local winderies. But where do I get the image of the Wine Cluster?! :dunno:

-->Kat<--
08-24-2006, 01:44 PM
my daughter is my Jr. bridesmaid, she too wanted to be a flower girl but I told her that she was just a little too old for that part and when she felt down I told her about being a JR BM and showed her the dresses. She can't wait.

Also FH is saying vows and presenting her with a ring on a necklace to her and she pouring sand in during the sand ceremony.

Hope that helped.

-->Kat<--
08-24-2006, 01:46 PM
you could create in in word art but that would be alot of work :dontknow: other than that I don't know.

My seating chart is made up in the same shape as the room itself... sorry I don't know how to put it up on here... but I can e-mail you if you'd like.

carolinalady67
08-24-2006, 11:33 PM
Vanessa, while your daughter is older then what they say should be a flower girl, if she really wants to do it and you are okay with it then I agree, why not! You can just go bridezilla on anyone who gives you a hard time about it :) I think Chris said he was a ring bearer for his uncle when he was 9 or 10.

angie
08-25-2006, 07:28 AM
I think if I had a 10 year old daughter who wanted to be the flower girl, I'd let her. It's only a couple years over what they say a flower girl should be. I see no harm in it.

:yup: I dont mind being a bridezilla a few times during this wedding planning process  :hehe:

I think if I had a 10 year old daughter who wanted to be the flower girl, I'd let her. It's only a couple years over what they say a flower girl should be. I see no harm in it.

Yeah! Exactly!

I'm all for that Venus. I think you started the thread so you would have to ask one of the community leaders to move it. Ask them to leave a redirect so everyone can find it again :)

Kat, I'm so excited for you. Your wedding is soon :) :)

hey... who's an oldie :shrug2:

I am super excited... tomorrow we're supposed to get the kilts, go to the farmers market to pick out flowers, then get the guys to try on the kilts, and then possibly have coffee with friends.

Thursday is my bridal shower at work and then laundry to pack for the honeymoon.

Friday we're picking up the linens & glasses, and then the bach. parties.

Saturday is nails & pedi's, pick up flowers, rehearsal.

Do any of you here have teenagers? In my case I have three teen girls 15,15, & 17 yes you see that right:eyebrows: , twins. Ever since the wedding it feels like the soap opera "the young & the restless" someone always has the as i call it "trauma the drama" . Now dont get me wrong, I love my girls to the ends of the universe, but they are really pushing me right now and its taking everything I have not to snap:ohreally:

Sorry to hear that Sue, not sure which is worse. My one twin girl has done a complete reverse with DH since the wedding and its really hard because we still arent in our own house yet and if I raise my voice to the girls I get the mean look from my parents. Im tired of having to justify everything I tell the girls when they disagree with why I say "no" The one advantage of being an adult as opposed to a teen/kid/child is that you dont answer to them they answer to you, right??

Venus - I understand your frustration! I don't have any kids of my own, but my teenage niece (okay, she's 21 now, but still acts worse than a 15 year-old!) moved in with us almost 2 years ago! I swear I've gotten twice as much grey hair since she moved in - holy mood swings batman!!!

Good luck!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone!!! Thanks Pacificbrezz for the invite!!!

I'm 40 :disbelief: (had a hard time with that one)

DH is 42.

We've been married almost 20 years (my 1st wedding, his 2nd), so we are tentatively planning a renewal ceremony for summer 2007.

We have 3 kids, 2 daughters ages 19 and 14 and one son age 12.

Boys (so far) are so much easier!!! Drama doesn't begin to describe it with the girls. My mother once told me that around the age of 14 an alien being would take over my child and not return them to me until around the age of 19 or so. Was she ever right!!! I'm still waiting for the alien to leave my oldest one....:heee:

I want the girls to be my BMs and my son will be the best man, but DH and I can't agree on this, so we will see.

After months of lurking here and on UW, I've finally started a journal in the 2007 wedding journals if anyone is interested. I would love some suggestions/ideas.

Thanks again for the invite.

Ok yes I was and am all excited that the girls are back to school, but now for the last two days I have been filling out paperwork in triplicate. I would think by now the school system would have devised a better plan for paperwork for families with more then one student.
Heard yesterday our new manf. home will be delivered on the 21st of this month, will still be a couple weeks before we can move in but at least Ill know its here before the rains come. DH is so looking forward to having his own bathroom again, hates going into my folks house every morning. :hehe:

Venus that is wonderful you will soon have your new home!

I went to the winery yesterday to aks some questions that have come up. Took some pictures that I posted in my journal if you'd like to see our wedding location. I of course am coming up with things already that I forgot to do. I wanted to measure how long the aisle was for a runner and rose petals. Also wanted the size of the table tops to the barrel tables cause I think I'm going to make coverings for them. So I'll have to run back out one of these days with my tape measurer.

Can ever relate to this!!! It was a little easier when all 3 of my kids went to the same school. But now I have one in middle school, one in high school and one in college. Talk about paperwork!!!

Hey ladies where'd y'all go. Now I know you didnt suddenly get younger, just kidding :)

:pointlaugh: I took a little down time from wedding stuff but am ready to get back at it. I attached the magnets to our STD cards today. I'll start addressing them tomorrow. I only need the address list from Chris's mom and I should have that Monday or Tuesday. Need to call hotels the first of the week so I can add that info to our website before people get their STDs. Also need to find a baker yet. And I guess I've put off trying on dresses as long as I can. I was hoping to lose more weight first and I don't have anyone to go with me so I've been putting it off. But it is getting to be time to order it.

On a very sad note, my cousin died from breast cancer this morning. She was in her mid 30's and I'm just so sad for her 12 year old son. I hope he will be okay. We lost her so much faster then they thought but I'm glad she isn't suffering any more.

Need to share this because it was an awesome learning tool for my girls. Yesterday while our house was being delivered, the driver of one of the trucks had his wife with him. He kept telling her to stay in the truck which I thought was a little odd, but then one of the other drivers came over and asked if it would be ok for her to come and stand with us, he stated that she was blind. We all agreed that we'd love to have her come stand with us and we'd keep an eye on her (no pun intended) Anyway she came over and my twin girls were there (15 years old) and she told us that she became blind when she was 16, she remembers things like sunsets etc, she has never seen her husband no idea what he looks like. She made some other comments of interest. Anyway later that night over dinner, my girls were talking about her and how strange it would be not know what your husband or boyfriend looked like or more to the point how could they have met. I couldnt of found a more opportune moment to emphasize the old saying of "dont judge a book by its cover" Whether my girls wanted it or not they had just seen a prime example of why judging someone based on looks didnt necessarily mean anything. The was such a great life lesson for them. :sappy:

Just wanted to come in here and post as an official 30 something bride to be....my boyfriend proposed to me while we were on vacation last week! No date set yet, I'm going to open a planning journal once we figure that out.

Lisa, how did the dress shopping go? I'm off to your jounal to see!

Venus. Sometimes teenagers do pay attention to things, huh! They tend to not listen to their parents but situations like that are wonderful opportunities to get them to talk.
