Okay, ignoramus checking in. :hiya:
I'm in PhotoShop, resizing a pic so I can use it as my avatar. It says the resolution is 72, and the size is 85 x 85. When I save it, I save it at the level 5 quality (on a scale of 1 to 10), so how on earth is this teensy itty bitty picture still 40KB??? :banghead:

Have you added anything to it? Like any filters or anything? I think (Jaci, correct me if I'm wrong) that the more stuff you add to it, the bigger it will be.
If it's just a regular picture, then you've got me. :dunno:
However, T....you can go into the back end and add it and it will upload for you there, regardless of size. :heee: Just an FYI. ;)

It's just a regular picture! I'm naturally beautiful, so I didn't touch it up at all! :snob: :hehe:
I totally forgot about adding it through the back way! I'll try that! Thanks, Gi! :D
Yeah, any sort of layers will make it bigger, and more that you do.
Tanya, all you have to do is "Save for web" and choose the one that is much smaller, that way you don't loose image quality (like you do when you adjust the slider). I used to always forget about save for web and would get really frustrated because I'd look all melted and stuff when I lowered the quality.

When I make avatars on photoshop, I always save them as a GIF file instead of JPG (which is what I use for everything else), because the file size is smaller.
