Kristina - I was just telling people over the holiday that these bugs have evolved so now our sprays and candles and whatever else people use to keep the bugs away don't work. I'm telling you, there's a breed of super bugs out there!

jillian-i know! they are just totally out of control. when we were taking our dogs out the other night i was wearing shorts, and it wasnt all the way dark out. i just happened to look down and there were like 4 of them just hanging out on my legs. ive found a few inside too, i think they get on the dogs then just invite themselves right inside!

I've gotten a lot of bites, but not as many as last year when I worked outside all the time.

I don't think I've gotten enough to start counting on a second hand. LoL

But then, I'm a bit of a hermit. I stay in my bedroom/office nearly 24/7. LoL

I've been bitten more than ever this year!

So many bites I can't count, those stupid candles and even bug spray aren't working! I have even been bitten through clothing and the bites are so darn itchy, I do end up picking them and using alcohol or a salt paste to dry them out...that is all that takes the itch away.

Bugs, bugs go away.

My DH and I are BOTH very sensitive to bug bites...his swell up REALLY big when he gets them...mine come and go and bother me for a week off and on!!! We LOVE anti-itch cream, what a Lifesaver!

Yeah, when the bite has been "picked" open, if you make a paste out of salt & water and slather it on, it will sting like the dickens for a while. I left it on for about 15 mintues, and that bug bite is the only one that has not itched since!

I've heard hydrocortisone cream will work well to get rid of "the itchies". I'm sure a google search for homemade itch remedies would surface more "cures".

I was outside for less than 5 minutes last night. I counted them when I got inside.

10--10!!! on my left leg, 5 on my right, and 5 on my left arm. I don't have any on my right arm, go figure.

I just went to the Dominican Republic and there are a lot of mosquitoes out there. The chemical repellants or burners didn't help me at all when I lived there a few years ago - they ate me alive.

However, on this trip I took a solar mosquito guard. Worked SOOOO much better than anything!!! The BEST repellant ever in my book. You just charge it in the sun for 3 hours and it lasts you 3-4 days. You can recharge it any time you like. I still got a couple of bites (like 5 in a total of 10 days), but no where near compared to what I used to get with or without the spray or burning (the ones you plug into the wall or burn like incense) repellants.

Two things:

For the itches? Smack, don't itch. A nice sharp SMACK has the same relief of scratching, without the nasty side effects of breaking them open. LoL

Also, for the itches? If you have a nice fingernail? Press the tip of the nail right against the bite in a X pattern. Don't ask me why, but it tends to stop the itching for a while. :)

I am SO sensitive to bug bites!!! If a bug even thinks about biting me I get a welt the size of my fist. It is awful! I wear bug spray pretty much year round and ALWAYS have hydrocortisone on hand!

For a few weeks I felt like a Buffet for bugs..

I had BITES everywhere.. I bought flea medicine for the cats.. didn't help them.

I was covering bug bites in clear fingernail polish so i could sleep of a nite.

I finally gave up..bug bombed the house and bought flea spray for the cats. I get 99% less bites now. I still get the occasinally bite.

James swears it wasn't fleas biting cause they would be biting him too.. But whatever it was must of died when I bug bombd the house.

Well, we went camping for a couple days...And even after Kathy abandoned me in bed with a big hairy spider looming on the wall...I still only got a few bites. :D

Seriously, tho, she jumped up to get a shoe, that's how icky this spider was. LoL
