07-12-2006, 07:29 PM
Christa - Yes, just a few more weeks!
Mandy - Our wedding will be in Milwaukee. Where are you? If you're close, I can definitely suggest some vendors for you.
Mandy

We're getting married in Lake Mills. It's right off 94 smack dab in between Madison and Milwaukee. I am actually looking at a photographer from Milwaukee...A&K Photography I believe.
How are your plans coming along? One of our best friends just got engaged and they are looking at the Pfister and the Raddison. I've never been to either one, but they just SOUND expensive :)

I am getting married in Beloit and we are having the reception in Janesville
Mandy

Hiya border neighbor :)
Oh cool!! Where are you having the reception in Janesville? I went to Whitewater, so we spent a LOT of time in J-Town.
Christa
07-15-2006, 10:15 PM
We're having our reception at The Armory. It's a historic building downtown that was turned into a dinner theater.

Hi girls! Great to see all the WI brides! I am originally from Appleton, WI which is where we got married. If anyone needs any help with planning in that area please let me know!

Are we the only WI girls on here so far? I know there were more on UW. Hopefully they will find us!
I'm just curious. Is everyone originally from WI (including FH/DH's)? If not, how did you end up in WI?
I lived in WI all my life until I got married. I love it up there and definitely miss it! Thankfully we are not too far away and can visit every once in a while!

I've lived in WI my whole life. We would like to move away at some point, but it's not a for sure thing.
Mandy
07-29-2006, 06:53 PM
I actually have only lived here since 1999. I've lived in a ton of differant places: OK, PA, FL, and IL. I went to high school and college out here, then moved to NC my junior yr of college. We just moved back last March. Chad has lived here his entire life. We moved back from NC becuase our neice and nephew were growing up so fast and we couldn't bare the thought of them growing up and not really knowing us.

Mandy- where have you liked living best?
saraw04
07-31-2006, 03:39 PM
Christa - You want to move away?! I miss WI terribly. IL is nice, but it doesn't not compare to WI at all! Where would you like to move to?
Mandy - I am interested to know where you liked the best as well!
My all-time favorite place is Eagle River in northern WI. My family has a cottage there and I absolutely love going up there. I just wish I was closer now so I could go up there more often.
Sara :)
Christa
07-31-2006, 06:26 PM
Sara- If we moved away it would be to MO or AZ because that's where I have family. I don't really like northern WI at all, and north to me is anything north of Madison or Milwaukee. I work in IL and I don't think I'd want to live there.
saraw04
08-01-2006, 09:15 AM
Christa - It would definitely be nice to be close to your family. It's funny, my DH is from here in IL and he said the same thing about being north. Before he went to college up in northern WI with me he said he thought being way north was going to WI Dells. That was a big trip for them and it seemed like they were way up north. Now he has changed his mind since we went to college in Ashland up on Lake Superior.

Hi ladies!! Sorry I havn't checked back in awhile!!
To asnwer your question: I'm actually kinda torn. I LOVE Wisconsin. I missed it so much while I was gone, but I really loved NC. It was beautiful..the mountains to the west and the beach to the east. Loved it. But Wisconsin has been like a real 'home' to me :) I love my cows, cheese and badgers! :)
Christa
08-01-2006, 08:53 PM
Ashland...Wow. I've never been farther north than Eau Clarie and I only went there because FH went to college there.
Mandy- I've never been to NC, but it sounds really nice. I can't wait for Badger football to start!!!

Sorry Christa, I can't really help you. My sister's bf is from Janesville, I can have her ask him if he knows of any.
DH and I are heading up to WI for a short trip next weekend. I am looking forward to it as always!

Hmmm...I actually just went to Yahoo and did a search when I was looking for our photographer. We havn't chosen one yet though, so as soon as we do, I'll let you know.
Hey ladies--not too much longer until Badger football starts again!! WOO HOO!! FH and I are moving to Madison at the beginning of October, so we are super happy now!

Christa--just wanted to let you know. I just talked to a co-worker today and she was married 2 weeks ago. Her photographer did over 900 pictures (they're awesome) for just under $400 for her!! I'm getting all her info (I'm hoping to use her as well) so if you're interested, I'd be happy to pass it along to you!!

Thanks for the offer Mandy, but we got a photographer. I hope you are able to use the photographer though, it sounds like a really good deal

Hey everyone! :wavey:
I currently live in Waukesha, WI with my fiance, Adam and our furbabies, Dylan, Marley, (kitties) and Chase (puppy). :loveshower:
Adam and I are orignally from the Hartland, WI, area, but moved to Wisconsin so we would be closer to UW-Milwaukee. We plan to move back to our hometown when we buy a house.
We're getting married :wedding2: on August 11th, 2007, at St. John's Military Academy Chapel in Delafield, and our reception  is going to be at The Chandelier Ballroom in Hartford.

Hi Tanya!
I am getting married in Beloit and we are having the reception in Janesville
Where will you do your reception in Janesville? Growing up in that city my whole life and the only thing that comes to mind is the Hoilday Inn or Best Western. :happytears:
Christa
09-27-2006, 08:30 PM
Everyone has their reception at Holiday Inn and I don't like the Best Western, esp now that Superwalmart is behind it.
We're having ours at the Armory. They just started doing receptions this year

Oh yeah.. I forgot that Janesville had to get a Super Walmart for no real apparant reason.. lol.
We have alot of out of town guests, so I don't want to get them too lost. That's why I was going to go with Holiday Inn for the reception. They could just go upstairs to their rooms after the shin-dig. The Armory sounds nice.. but is there enough parking to accomodate a wedding reception? I know it's in the old Marshall School (if I'm thinking of the right place) and that's near Main Street and the crazy drunks.
God, I hate Janesville. This would just be so much easier if everyone would just come to Phoenix. :D

I think you are thinking of the JPAC. That's in the old Marshall School. The Armory is downtown too, but across the river.

Has anyone heard the latest on that school shooting in Westin?? What a terrible tragedy :(
Christa

Yeah, it was really upsetting. Nate lived in Reedsburg last year, which isn't far from there at all. I'm glad he doesn't live there anymore (not that he would have been in danger or anything)
Jessica!

Yeah, that's the one I am thinking of. I've never been to The Armory then. I should check it out when I goto Janesville again.

I does seem like a long time ago. I feel like I've grown up SO MUCH since then. (Which is probably good since I was like 19-20  ) I see you are in IL now... weren't you originally in Appleton/Oshkosh?

Good memory! I was from Appleton, which I miss a lot. Illinois is a lot different! I just heard on the radio this morning that they had truck drivers rate the drivers in each state. WI had the third best drivers and IL had the third worst drivers!
Congrats Michelle on your little one and another one on the way! DH and I haven't gotten to that point yet. Maybe another year or so.

Hi Ladies! I live in Madison and am planning a Lake Geneva, WI wedding. Any recommendations would be great! We already have the ceremony and reception site booked! We are looking for musicians for our ceremony. It will be outdoors. Thanks!

What amazing weather we've had lately!! It looks like there's a small river in my parking lot from all the melting snow, but it's totally worth it!!
Does anyone have plans for this weekend?
Christa

I'm in Phoenix, but I heard the weather up there is really nice right now. Hopefully when I come home all the snow will be gone!

Hello Wisconsin ladies!! I lived in WI all my life until last June and now have moved to Texas. I'd gladly move back to Wisconsin. DH and I really miss it. We got married in May at the Monona Terrace and had our reception at the Masonic Center. The terrace and capital made for some amazing pictures.

Mandy - I wish we could have gone inside and taken pics too. We forgot for the engagement pics and wedding pics that the capital closed at 4 on the weekends. I'll post more of my pics soon. I recognized some of your backgrounds too :)

Hey Candy, I remember you from before :)
Did you find a photographer you like? If I remember right I sent you to mine but she was booked. I tried to send another couple I know to her, but she was booked for their date as well.
Here is my favorite Madison picture.... on Monona Terrace with the Capital in the background.

Hi Candy! I think I remember you as well. I am in IL now and miss WI as well.
Just wanted to let everyone know my sister got engaged last week so I get to help plan a WI wedding! They are thinking of getting married June, 2008. Her FH is from Janesville so they may have the reception at the Janesville Country Club. Otherwise they may have it by my parents in Appleton as well. I know most of the WI brides on here are from the Madison area so if my sister decides to have the wedding in Janesville I know I will have some help!

I am not from or ever lived in WI BUT I figured you ladies could tell me a bit about WI. See, we are (maybe) going to move there in the coming year due to a new job for my husband. Can anyone tell me about LaCrosse, WI?
Christa
10-06-2007, 08:54 AM
I don't know a lot about La Crosse, I haven't been there in a few years, but I think it's is nice. It's on the Mississippi river and there are bluffs in the city so it has nice scenery. It's a college town. I have a friend from there so if you have any specific questions I can ask her.
Mandy
10-06-2007, 10:20 PM
 It's a really nice area. Be prepared that because it's a "smaller" college town, it's got a ton of the college crowd there. It's not a bad thing though.
Honestly, I've lived in a ton of different states (OK, FL, IL, NC) but WI is by far my favorite place. It really is beautiful here, and Madison is such a great place. Be prepared for Badger and Packher games taking up your fall though! Good luck and if you make the move, let us know!
