I know - I got sent over there to work one March a few years ago and the rain was impressive. It was almost as crazy as the rain in Glasgow. It is so beautiful there though. Still, I'm a sunny Island girl at heart!

Hey gals! I'm having a great time in Italy! I arrived last week and classes started yesterday. Florence has been really hot, like 30-34! Oy, I can't wait for it to cool down.

Enjoy that weather!

I know that London is going to be cold and blustery when I'm there in November. But at least I can snuggle up with my dear, adorable fiance. SIGH. :)

We decided to go to England in the spring next year. My mom is not too happy that we won't be going to NC to see them, but I'd rather be in England in the spring than autumn or winter, given the choice. Will have to visit NC later in the year, I get four weeks of vacation next year!! YAY!!

You just know you'll have great weather in the spring, Liza! :) It'll be gorgeous - what an excellent time to go!! I've not done a spring trip there yet, but probably will once we get married. Its cheaper to fly then than it is in the summer or around the holidays.

It was quite an experience to be there during the hottest summer they've had in a while (this past July)!

I am distraught Mayo lost the All Ireland Final (and before the witty comments start County Mayo not a jar of Helmans)
Although from the amount of action from the Mayo team a jar of Helmans would probably be more exciting to watch.

Hi Everyone!!!

Jade, it's almost time!

Liza - I hope your day was wonderful!

We had a great European honeymoon through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. We're looking at what we'll be doing in 2007. Looks like we'll be in the UK for a wedding in January and again in May. We also plan to get over to Ireland after the May wedding for a week.

How were you able to get both citizenships? I am an American living in Sweden with no plans on ever moving back to the States and I want to get dual citizenship but according to all the paperwork I've seen the US gov. won't recognize dual citizenship (if you get it as an adult).

I heard that if I took Swedish citizenship I would automatically forfeit my American citizenship. Am I misinformed? Traveling around the world would be soooo much easier if I could travel on an EU passport (as long as I'm not going to the States that is).

My understanding has always been that while the US doesn't 'recognize' dual citizenship officially, you can have it. The only way you'd lose your US citizenship is to denounce it.

My fiance is going to eventually have dual citizenship. He has a few friends now who already do (they have both US and UK passports). If they're travelling to the States, they use their US passports; when traveling around the UK or the EU, they use their UK passports.

Well... I was married to a Dutch guy previously and at the time I was allowed to keep my American citizenship. Had I not been married, I would have to forfeit it.

But, that said, there is this really fine line with dual citizenship and the US has certain "agreements" with specific countries and I don't know if Sweden is one of those countries or not. The Netherlands does and doesn't accept it... it's sort of like a don't ask, don't tell policy. You don't say "I never want to be American again!" and therefore you get to keep your citizenship. Why it makes a difference, married or not, I don't know. I would have been eligible for citizenship anyway, but I would not have been able to get dual.

Of course I'm divorced from that guy, but I still retain both nationalities.
