I am doing a signature mat for my guests and I am curious what kind of pens or markers work best on them or does it even matter?

I would recommend using scrapbooking pens (or anything acid free).

Yup acid free scrapbooking pens which should easily be found in any store with a scrapbooking section :D

That is what we used. Just make sure you test them out first as some of them don't flow smoothly and look choppy. :)

We used the scrapbooking pens and it turned out wonderfully! Here's a pic of it before it get really full :).

We used an acid free scrapbooking pen too. I would suggest a very very fine point and something that is more PEN like than marker like.

Sometimes the thicker ones take a little longer to dry so test them out for that as well.
I had visions of people smudging their names all over our mat.

Not only will it dry faster, but you'll have a MUCH easier time figuring out what people wrote!
And scrapbooking pens come in EVERY color of the rainbow! You can choose one color, or mulitple that match your wedding colors or the picture in the mat!

We also used the scrapbooking markers/pens. The ones we had were two-sided--One end's tip was alittle larger than the other. Both were small enough to dry quickly and everything is legible. I think the 2 sizes look nice..it gives it alittle variation

Good point Erie. I forgot to mention that I used both black and red pens to break it up a little. ;)

I love the idea of different colors. We are actually using different size mats because I'm making a collage, so that will add even more uniqueness to it.
