Good FRIDAY morning everyone! So I just have to work all day today, drive a little over 1.5 hours home (if my stupid company car decides to work today, since yesterday it died on me), switch stuff from one suitcase to the other, and then go to the airport. Where am I going today.....

oh yeah, VEGAS BABY!!!!!

oupiglet
07-21-2006, 07:25 AM
ps Emily, is everything ok where you are? I talked to my Mom yesterday and both she and my Dad never lost power.

07-21-2006, 07:27 PM
I hate Delta. Delta is ALWAYS late. I'm sitting in the airport and our flight is delayed (right now) 50 minutes. So we don't leave until 9:30pm EST.... but knowing Delta they'll delay it again.

07-21-2006, 07:35 PM
I'm sorry. :( I still am green with envy despite your plane being late.

Hi from Vegas!!!

Las Vegas says hello and hurry back to all the Vegas Brides!!!!

We got in, got the car, dropped our bags off at the hotel, and then went and played penny slots (and drank!) for about 3 hours. My DH won $125 in pennies. He always does crazy well on silly penny slots.

Finally came back to the hotel and went to bed around 6:30am EST. I had been up 24 hours.... slept 6 hours and now we're about to hit the casinos again.

Have I mentioned that I love Las Vegas???

Kylie

I'm so jealous you're back in Vegas! I've been talking about going back since the minute we left. I wanted to go back for our 1 year, but that doesn't seem possible, so we may aim for our 2nd anniversary instead. I don't want to wait that long though!

I agree, we need a full report :)

Hi from Vegas (STILL!)

We were supposed to go home on Wednesday afternoon, but extended our stay a couple of days. We're heading home now on the Friday red eye.

I will give a report when I get back, but to answer your question Kay, we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Polaris and at TI.

I think my liver is ready for me to go home!!!!

oupiglet

My latest trip report...

It was SO MUCH BETTER than the wedding trip. The trip for the wedding was just way too stressful and way too many things went wrong. Last week was my 6th trip to Vegas since May 2004.

We flew Delta on my FF miles...of course it was Delta so we were late and once we got there our bags were the very last ones to come out. We got the rental car and got checked into the Holiday Inn Express (again for free on points.). All was good with the car and the room.

Our first night we always arrive late and then just stay up all night in order to switch to our Vegas time schedule. Usually we sleep on the plane on the way out, but this flight we had a very loud jumpy rude NON SLEEPING 6 year old in front of us, so we got very little sleep. Oh well....drinks and gambling help me stay up. :hehe:

The first few days we weren't having much luck on the tables but were having fun anyway. We managed to hit quite a few casinos and get some decent play time in everywhere.

After the first few nights we switched hotels to a suite at TI. I honestly wasn't that impressed with TI. The casino doesn't have a lot of the newer slots and you only get rated if you play at a $25 or higher table. The room was ok. It was pretty, but we ended up switching rooms after the first night so that we could have a higher floor and a jacuzzi that actually worked. When we got into the new room there was a gift package of fruits and nuts there with a card that said "Enjoy your honeymoon. We thought it was for us as a way to make up for the first crappy room and I had mentioned that it was Mark's birthday and that we were on our honeymoon. We left to go gamble and when we came back the gift package had been removed!!! We thought that was really rude. If it was placed in the wrong room they should have just dealt with it. The other thing that bothered us was that we had the do not disturb sign on the door and they entered our room anyway. I will say that the view and the tub in the second room were much better even without the snacks!!!

We were supposed to leave on Wednesday afternoon, but decided to extend our stay until the redeye on Friday night. I'm so glad we did. Those extra 3 days were well worth it. We went back to the Holiday Inn for free and it only cost $100 to change both plane tickets.

Kay, I think you'll find this interesting.... They have closed the Terrazza Lounge at Caesars. Apparently they are putting a new restaurant in that location. I am SO GLAD that they didn't have the construction going during our wedding times. On the inside AND outside there are big ugly construction walls. Even Mark said that he would have been pissed if they were up for the wedding.

All in all it was a good trip. I ended up loosing some cash, but made a lot of it back in the extra days we were there.

Now we are thinking about cancelling the cruise that we scheduled for my birthday and just going back to Vegas for Thanksgiving instead. 4 trips in a year isn't excessive is it?!?!?!!?:hysterics:

I've already told Gina, but wanted the rest of you to know that Karen, the owner of Picture Me in Vegas, died on Saturday night very unexpectedly. What a great loss this is to all Vegas Brides and to the world of photography in general.

Kay
08-01-2006, 07:33 PM
I just found out about Karen. I am so incredibly saddened by this news. It honestly hit me very hard. She was such an important part of our day and helped make it so special that I just can't put into words how sad I am for her family.

Mara--I am so glad they didn't close the Terrazza Lounge for our weddings because that's where I had our night before the wedding get-together! That would have sucked if I had planned that not knowing it was closed!

*Gina*
08-01-2006, 07:33 PM

We're sad, aren't we?!!?!?!?

We are going on Nov. 18 and coming home on the 25th on the redeye. I think my Dad is going to fly out from St. Louis from the 20-24. We got pretty decent airfare, and hotel rates are pretty cheap that week. Most likely we will stay a few nights for free at the Holiday-Inn. All my work travel really pays off for stuff like this.

This afternoon Mark cancelled the cruise we were going to take over my birthday weekend, the first weekend in Nov.

Don't be jealous, you should ALL join us!!!!!:jump4joy: :jump4joy: :jump4joy:

We just got rooms at Bally's for $69 a night. We prefer jacuzzi suites, so we'll try to upgrade when we get there, but $69 is pretty good. We can cancel if we end up getting better offers in the next few months.

Hiya Vegas Brides,

I missed this group of ladies when the old site went down and I'm so happy I found you again! I used to be nursebride2be but have changed my name to NewlywedNurse because we got married on June 29th.

Our Vegas wedding was really fun and sweet. I'll post some pics if I can figure out how. Is there a minimum post count before you can post pics to your profile and posts? I can't seem to find those commands.

oupiglet - I'm so jealous of your trips back to Vegas..my DH has been in withdrawal for over a month!

Here's a question (pointedly looks at oupiglet) :D

Do you get Vegas burnout ever? How many times have you visited Vegas?

DH tells me that he's afraid it will take away from the Vegas experience if we go too much (we've only been ONCE!!). I highly disagree, but how would I know?!?

Wow, Gina...time really does fly. I can't believe it's been 3 months for you too. At the time it seemed like your wedding was way after mine, but it really wasn't! :)

Oops, I'm late!

But wow! congrats on 4 months Mara, and congrats on 3 months Gina!

I swear it feels like our wedding never happened and it was all a dream. Seems so long ago, but I think about it all the time!

I've been researching hotels for our anniversary trip and can't wait to start planning!

Gina, I don't go to Vegas at the rate and speed Mara does ;) but I don't think I'd ever get tired of going. I think the most we'd ever go is once a year and that probably won't even happen every year, so I figure enough changes happen in Vegas to make it different for us every time!

Our upcoming trip will be my seventh. My first trip was May of 2004. So 7 trips in 2.5 years. :hehe: There are still so many things that I haven't done that I want to do. Each trip is special in itself. I don't get the exact same feeling going down the strip as I did the first time...but I still get butterflies and excitement. :jump4joy: Just typing this is making me get all excited about our trip in November. We are meeting my Dad there and there is so much that he hasn't done, so I'll get to play tour guide.

No sign on burn out here!!

OH, My lovely husband will be on trip 54 in November...don't think either of us will tire of Vegas anytime soon!

We just passed our 2 month anniversary on the 29th. When we were in Vegas we both said a few times that we weren't really the right people for Vegas. We don't drink, we don't club, and we gambled max $50 the whole 5 days we were there. But, we still had a GREAT time and just tonight we were saying how awesome it would be to go back on our first anniversary. So, that's what I'm gonna plan!

Hey ladies!

I have a quick question for those of you who might have hired an Elvis impersonator for your wedding. Can anbody refer me to one? I've been communicating with Eddie Powers, but he refuses to sign a contract or tell me what would happen if he didn't show up for the wedding so we mutually agreed it was not the correct situation for both of us.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Kay
09-06-2006, 09:06 AM
Mara- LOL I can't believe your husband has counted all the 54 times to Vegas! I would have lost count by then! :) I wish my hubby was more into it like me :) He enjoys Vegas, he just doesn't feel the need to go all the time like I do :)

oupiglet
09-06-2006, 01:55 PM
So I have to admit that part of the reason that Mark has been to Vegas so much is that his ex-wife (the practice wife!) worked for an airline and he could just hop on a plane and go if he wanted to!

Part of the reason that we have been able to go as much as we have is that I travel with my job, so I've been using up my frequent flyer miles for airfare and we use my points to stay at least a few of the hotel nights. (The nights that we can't get good deals in the casinos.)

For example, right now I'm sitting in some small ass town in Tennessee in a Holiday Inn Express. It sucks, but work is paying for the room, and I get the points. So I just look at it as one night closer to a free night in Vegas!!!:jump4joy:

Kay
09-08-2006, 07:09 AM
Mara--I would totally be using my free hotel/flights for Vegas if I got them through work! Probably makes hanging out in small-town Tennessee worth it! :) I've always thought I'd like a job where I travel a lot...but that's not happening as a social worker LOL Do you enjoy the travel or is it hard?

I am absolutely no help on this, but maybe I can help eliminate a few. ;) I wanted Jesse Garon, but he and Karen had a falling out at some point and she quit using him. I'm not sure of the story anymore and I don't think I still have her emails. I know the one time I called him, he never got back to me. Ever. Like, I could still be waiting on his call for all he knows. :hehe:

For our wedding, we used Joey Franklin. Karen adored him. I, however, did not. I felt uncomfortable, but it could've just been me. Everyone else loved him and he was very respectful to the Minister at TI. He played his part well, and showed up when he was supposed to. I think he just *over* played his part and I was totally skeeved out. He always got back to me via email and on the phone and he was funny. Sometimes I think maybe my experience with him might have been different had he not been provoked by my very drunk friend that day. :dunno: I can't say either way.

Sabby12s
09-08-2006, 09:01 AM
Gina ~ Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it. I never thought finding an Elvis would be this difficult. I definitely won't bother with Jesse Garon then since he was on my list of people to call. If a respected photographer gave up on him, then I will too.

I do wish I could've used him. He looked like he would've been awesome to have. Again, I have no idea what the deal was between him and Karen. She hadn't taken him off her website yet because her son handled all of that and he was in Korea.

Maybe it was just something personal and not professional. :dunno: I went back and looked at her emails, but I only have the ones post-wedding saved, not the ones leading up to the wedding. Sorry.

If Emily had a great experience, maybe he's worth using. I just never heard from him, but I wasn't that persistent because I called him before I found out Karen wasn't using him anymore.

HAHAHA! You are so funny Kay! I wish I was in Vegas....2 months 'til we go back.

I've been really busy with work. In the past 2 weeks I've been in Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, and all over Florida. The travel really has me tired! On top of that Mark and I have been planning and doing all sorts of home improvements. I bought my house 7 years ago today and it's time for some updating.

I told the flight attentant last night about this site...I hope she checks it out!

Kay
09-24-2006, 09:06 AM
LOL Mara...2 months will be here before you know it! That's a LOT of travelling! We're doing some home improvements too. It's a tad bit stressful because neither of us know much about DIY home improvements. And the financial part isn't always pretty either...but SOOO worth it in the end!

I booked our Vegas anniversary trip already at the Paris. I figure if I find a good deal somewhere else I can always cancel. We want to stay somewhere we have never stayed before. I'm excited already!!

Are you looking for a show, or an activity, or something naughty? There are so many different things to do. We didn't want bachlor/bachlorette parties. The day before our wedding we had so much to do since we were hosting a big party that night for everyone in our suite, and I had my hair/makeup trial and our rehersal. I went to brunch the day before with a few of my friends. However the Sat. before our wedding (we got married on a Monday) we got a group of people together and all went and saw Avenue Q. Ave. Q is closed now, but was a great time.

So can you give us a direction to go and I'm sure we could come up with stuff for you. Also, how much time and when...daytime, evening, both?!?!

There's so many things to do!!!! And yet, I always end up at the blackjack table or the craps table!:eyebrows:

Haha! Thanks ladies!

We're looking for an activity to do. It would something that we could all do together as opposed to a bachelor/bachelorette party thing. There won't be a rehearsal dinner per se, but I still want everyone to get to know one another. I just thought it was really cool to see people on The Wedding Story going out for a wine tastings or at amusement parks together. We love the Manhatten Express at New York New York, but will be over and done with in 2 mins or so. I don't really want to do a show because then we can't talk so it has to be something social where people are interacting.

Hope this helps and makes sense. My cat, Vlad, is trying desperately to get the straw out of my drink and keeps stepping on the kjeyboard.

Hi Vegas Ladies! I'm still here lurking around..I can't believe I've been married nearly 4 months already! It still shocks me when I think about it and it's still wierd saying "my husband". Just today I was talking to my cousin about when my husband and I first moved in together and it seemed SO long ago now that we're married.

We're only a few weeks away from our official honeymoon and while we sadly aren't going to be going to Las Vegas for this trip..we will be going to Ireland and Belgium. I can't wait!

Anyway, nice to see some of the Vegas girls still out here. Hopefully in about 8 and a half months I'll be posting about our first anniversary trip to Las Vegas.

Kay
10-18-2006, 07:59 AM
There's my girls!!!!

Gina--That's great the site will be searchable. I bet we'll have Vegas brides popping up all over the place after that! :)

Mara--I wish we had gambling boats here! We do have a casino or 2 in driving distance from here, either in Delaware or West Virginia, but we've never been! Looking forward to hearing how your Nov. Vegas trip goes! My coworker is going next week and I'm pissed...it's no fair! :( LOL

NewlywedNurse--isn't it crazy how fast time goes? We're having our 6 month anniverary next weekend and that blows my mind. Your honeymoon sounds INCREDIBLE!! YOu'll have to let us know how it goes!

Thanks ladies for checking and letting me know I'm not all alone! ;)

We ended up not going last night...but we're going to go tonight. I wish we had "real" casinos here. It kinda sucks to have to drive over an hour to get on a boat, then you have to wait about 30 minutes while the boat gets out to international water for them to start the gambling. The worst part is the 30 minute or so ride back into shore once they close the casino.

I can't complain that much though, at least it's something! And at this point, most of the dealers, cocktail servers, and pit bosses know us and are our friends. As a matter of fact, two of them came to our house this past Sunday to watch football with us.

ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!!!!

I can't believe it's been 6 months! I had a great 1/2 anniversary. Mark and I went out to dinner. (That's rare for us, during the week we eat low-fat foods at home!) I got flowers, a card, chocolate, and a stuffed dog. I have the best husband ever.

And I've been so good and haven't peeked at the boxes and bags he has stacked up that have my bday presents in them!!!

I am SOOO excited! We had Bally's rooms booked for our trip. The rooms were fine, but just standard rooms. For me, that's not too exciting since I stay in hotels all the time for work.

I just found an AMAZING deal. Caesars Palace Deluxe Palace Tower Rooms total for 5 nights....$542.00! and that's including taxes and fees!!!:jump4joy: :jump4joy: :jump4joy: :jump4joy: :jump4joy: :jump4joy: :jump4joy:

Why I love and hate traveling for work.

First the hate. I'm in West Virginia...middle of NOWHERE West Virginia. I left my house at 7:45 this morning and got to my hotel at 10:15 tonight. LOOONG Day. Of course, there isn't anywhere for food. Good thing I ate a bit in Charlotte around 2pm.

The LOVE. I scored big time today. Both flights I was booked on were oversold and they were looking for volunteers. I volunteered both times. I now have 2 free round trip tickets anywhere in the continental US good for one year. Gee anyone want to guess where they'll be use for?!?!?!:hysterics:

The last flight was about 1.5 hours late, and then I had a 1.5 hour drive. I'm exhausted.

Have I mentioned that I'm going to Vegas on SATURDAY?!?!?!?

Mark wants to go back to Vegas for Christmas. :hehe: We could use my 2 free US Air tickets and stay at the Holiday-Inn for free, but I don't really have any vacation time left this year from work, and I think I'd rather wait til Feb or March to go again. I wish we could just go whenever the hell we wanted. Silly jobs and money get in the way too much!

Oh well, I know for sure that we'll be there for our anniversary. Maybe it'll be my turn to win big!

Kay
12-07-2006, 08:08 AM
Mara--I'm guessing you had a wonderful time in Vegas, yet again! ;) Are you and your hubby big gamblers? I'm pretty sure I'll be winning big when we go out in April! Hee hee! :)

We've booked our hotel (Paris) and flights, so it's officially planned! Okay, now I need some show ideas. I have been wanting to see "O" so I think I will get tickets for that. But I'd also like to see something else that my hubby would like more. I know Gina saw Penn & Teller. Was it any good? I have been reading show reviews on TripAdvisor.com and every show I look at has so many negative reviews. There's positive ones too, but who do you believe??? LOL I should probably just have us see one of the "adult" shows since I'm sure that would please him, Ha ha! Anyone have any recommendations??? :)

We saw "O" when we were there and really liked it. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Cirque shows.

Do you have any recommendations as to where I should get seats for "O"? Meaning where in the auditorium should I try to sit? I considered splurging for seats up front, but don't want the "wet" seats. Would the front row of the balcony be a good place to sit? I don't want to spend money on the expensive seats if it really doesn't matter where you sit to enjoy the experience.

NewlywedNurse
12-08-2006, 04:54 PM
I don't think seats up front would be as good as seats towards the back. I know we got the expensive ones and they ended up being center, but towards the middlish-back. What was awesome was the people who performed on the platforms or ropes or whatever were right in front of us and you could see everything without having to look at one thing at a time, know what I mean? We kept saying "we couldn't have better seats!" the whole time we were at the show. We lucked out because we stood in the standby line before the show and got 4 seats together from a party who had cancelled. I wouldn't worry too much though, the theater isn't that big.

Oh, I just reread your post..to answer your question, I think front row balcony would be really nice seats.

Kay
12-09-2006, 07:03 AM
Thank you so much for the advice! I figure it wouldn't matter too much where we sat, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for seats that are maybe too close if stuff is happening behind us and over us.

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

December 11, 2004

HOW IT HAPPENED (as written by Mark)

I was doing a marketing project in a local mall, and Mara decided to come along to do some shopping for "Christukkah" while I was working. We had been totally underwhelmed by most of the rings that we had previously looked at, and frankly, they were all starting to look the same! I casually wandered into a Gordon's Jewelers store just for the heck of it, and this one ring just jumped out of the case & bit me! I asked the salesperson to set it aside for me while I finished my project then went to find Mara. I excitedly took her back to the store to see the ring, and when she saw it, she was absolutely, totally, and incredibly..............underwhelmed! The manager observed all of this, and immediately proceeded to remove the ring from Mara's hand, clean it, plop a mirror in front of her, place her under a bright light, then placed her hand on her chest in front of the mirror. Mara now saw the ring on herself as others would see it, and decided that she loved it. I suggested that I purchase it on the spot, and the lovely Mara was so excited, that she ran out of the store and disappeared! Hmmmmm........interesting. I found her in a corner hyperventilating and speaking with her Sister in Law on the phone after I paid for the ring, and I showed her this Gund bear that I had decided to purchase with the ring, as he was very cute, and the money went to a local children's charity. The bear was holding a gift box, and I placed the ring box inside it for safekeeping. I had initially planned to save the ring and the proposal for New Year's Eve, but as the element of surprise was now eliminated, and Mara would not stop shaking, giggling, & hyperventilating, I decided that I would do it that night at dinner. We went to one of our favorite local steakhouses, but the wait was outrageous, so we went to Steak & Ale instead. I took the bear (Gordon) into the restaurant with us, and placed him on the table. As I recall, he had his own plate and glass, so the couple across the isle thought that we were nuts. About halfway through dinner, I grabbed Gordon the Bear, and as he presented the gift box with the ring in it to Mara, I did the whole proposal on one knee thing at the table. Apparently, I did it incorrectly, as I was told to do it again, but more slowly! I must not have done too poorly, however, as Mara accepted, and we will be heading out to Las Vegas in April for our wedding! The couple across the isle was now chuckling, so Mara leaped out of her seat and proceeded to show them her ring. Hopefully, they now thought that we were cute, and not nuts! Gordon the bear now sits on the nightstand at the side of our bed, and to this day, we like to think of her as having been "beared!" Yay!

I want to go too!

I do have a question for all the Vegas brides, who did you use to steam your dress when you got there? My WC gave me a list of places they usually recommend including the Paris' own service. I'm thinking of going with Ilene's formal wear because they provide a limo service that will pick you and your dress up and take to get your license while you wait. Any thoughts?

Kay
12-24-2006, 02:44 PM
Sabby--I shipped my dress out in advance to Debi at Fit for a Bride. She had it steamed and waiting for me when I arrived in Las Vegas. She can either deliver it to you at your hotel for a fee or you can go pick it up. We went straight to her place from the airport. I was really nervous about doing it that way, but she contacted me as soon as my dress arrived (I tracked it constantly) and once she had it I felt okay.

Mara--Girl I can't believe you're going back to Vegas again so soon! Well actually...yes I can! Ha ha! Just 4 more months for me!

Sabrina~I had my dress done before we went, but then since I couldn't use the closet on the plane, we ended up stuffing it in the overhead bin and it got all sorts of wrinkled again. :( We sent it to the TI cleaners the day before the wedding and they did a fabulous job on it for only $20. :)

oupiglet
12-25-2006, 07:53 PM
I used the cleaners recommended by Caesars, Master's Tuxedo. They picked up the dress AND crinoline and returned them all for $50. I could have put my veil in too, but I needed it for my hair trial, so I used the steam room in the suite for it! When I called them they were so nice, and the dress turned out perfectly.

Kay, when are you going to be in Vegas for your anniversary? We are planning to go from April 28-May 5 for our anniversary...we don't have that trip booked yet though.

We're going next month since there were ding fares on Southwest and RT was only $200 each. Unless we get a great deal somewhere we will just use my points and stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Once again, trying to find perks in my constant traveling for work.

Awesome about your cake. I loved mine too and would love to have more of it! Caesars bakery made mine. I bet I could get them to make another one for me. Kay, we HAVE to meet on this trip!!! I'm not sure where we will be staying yet. We usually wait until we start getting casino offers before we book our room. You are up in time to get breakfast in Vegas?!?!? lol

Don't know if you're a big 80s music fan, but Howard Jones is playing at the Orleans on the night of the 29th. We got tickets....should be fun. Then the Orlando Predators are playing the LV Gladiators the next night. We are HUGE Preds fans...we have season tickets here in Orlando (and it was our first date!), so we are psyched that we'll get to see them on our anniversary trip. It also means we won't miss a home game!!!

LOLOL I totally KNEW you were going to comment about breakfast being too early! I'm not going to lie, the time difference kicks my ass every time! So we usually wake up in time for breakfast :) We can definitely work something out. Since the 29th is our actual anniversary, we're going to go to dinner and see "O" that evening. But I'm sure earlier in the day (not too early for ya, ha ha) we can meet up though!

I'm such a dork! The Howard Jones concert is for this months trip, not the anniversary trip. Tee hee!

We have a trick for the time difference...we usually take flights that get us in to Vegas around 9 or 10pm Vegas time, so after midnight the time our bodies think it is. We TRY to sleep on the plane on the way there because once we arrive, we check into our hotel, freshen up, then GO OUT all night long. Usually make it back to the hotel around 5am Vegas time. We pass out until around 10-11am and then we hit the ground running for the rest of the trip. We just don't sleep much when we are there. That's what the plane ride home is for. (And the week after a trip I'm always wiped out and ask myself why do I do this to my body, and yet I'll do it again and again and again!)

As our trips get closer we will plan something.

I can't believe that we're going to be there again in less than 3 weeks.

Yay Sabby!!!! That is soooo exciting!

Ingrid, I use travelocity just to compare prices. I NEVER book from 3rd party sites, the rates are always cheaper directly on the airline website. Right now Delta has some great fares out of Orlando, I'm not sure how they are out of Jax. If you haven't already, I highly suggest that you download Southwest's DING program to run on your computer. From Florida these days I figure $240 or less is worth buying. As the dates get closer you can also use farecast.com to look up stuff.

I used expedia.com to book our flights on America West. They didn't have the flights I wanted listed on America West's website and the ones that were close to the times I wanted were WAY more expensive that what I found on expedia.com so it worked out in our advantage.

Our next ticket purchase is for New Hampshire so I can go to my bridal shower. Not sure if FH is attending that or not. He's not real interested in going but I'm not interested in going without him!

Oh, beware of purchasing from Delta. They either are looking into filing for bankruptcy soon or they've already done it thats why their tickets are so cheap these days!

Mara--What a brilliant trick you have figured out to beat the jet lag! Unfortunately I'm someone who requires a lot of sleep as it is, so that's why I think I have even worse of a time! This time around our flight leaves here at 7:00 a.m. so we'll be in Vegas by 9:30 a.m. We're screwed! LOL I'll have to try your schedule the next time I go!

Yay! I found out last night that our good friends, Bill and Moe, will be going to Vegas the same week we are in the spring. It will be cool to hang out with them there, but not feel like we're there together.

I met Bill and Moe at happy hour at TGIF about 7 years ago and we became friends. Indirectly, they are how Mark and I met. A few years ago Bill had Moe's 50th birthday party at happy hour and there I met their friend, Kenny. I thought Kenny was hot and ended up with a big crush on him. Kenny was in a band and I'd go out to see him play...that's where I met his friend, Mark! Mark never could figure out why Kenny wasn't interested in me and the rest is history.

So anyway, We will be in Vegas from April 28-May 5 and Bill and Moe will be there the 29-4. They came to our wedding last year, so if we do the Elvis anniversary "renewal" then we'll invite them to join us.

I can't believe I'll be back in Vegas on THURSDAY!!!

Totally o/t, but I know a Bill and Moe couple also! That can't be that common!

My next Vegas trip is May 11-14. We've got the hotel and car, but no tickets yet, since Southwest isn't booking that far out yet.

I admit it, I giggled when I was looking at Valentine's Day cards that said, "To my Husband."

I still have the t-shirt I bought a few years back on Valentine's Day that says, "What Boyfriend?" Mark and I went on our first date 2 weeks after I bought that shirt. Who woulda thunk it?!?!?!

I never updated about our trip. We had a great time (duh!). We were quite pleased at our comped stay at the Ex. We booked it because they offered me the free nights and match plays, but we weren't looking that forward to those nights since the rooms there are really run down. Little did we know that at check-in we would get upgraded to one of the newly renovated floors. Only 3 floors are finished and WOW! They really did a great job. The carpeting still smelled new. Comping me worked for them, because we'll actually consider staying there again in the future if we can be in one of the re-done rooms. Really impressive.

All in all gambling wise the trip went well. I came home with a total of $150 less than I went with, but that includes everything I spent money on (gaming, food, and souveniers). Mark came home up $150. He was up a lot more than that, but ended up giving it back. Together our joint card playing money was up $600. We were up $1000 but the last night wasn't so good to us! Can't complain about it at all!

This week we went on the gambling boat here in Florida and 5 hours later were up a combined $500something.

My co-worker/friend who never cared about Vegas until he went out for my wedding is going back on Saturday! I'm so proud of him!!! Another Vegas Convert! I'm jealous that I'm not going with him and his wife. On well, we're working on figuring out where we are going to stay for our anniversary.

OH! I found out that Caesars has changed the name of the Terrazza Garden to the Venus Garden. I think it sounds silly. I also heard, but have not confirmed, that they are going to be closing/moving the Intimate Garden.

So what's everyone else up to these days? It's way too quiet in here.

It is way too quiet in here!

Glad to hear your trip went well. Matt and I looked into going to Vegas for a few days either this month or next month but getting the time off just wasn't going to work. Besides, we have to buy a new car soon because our current one is crapping out on us. Needless to say, money is a little tight.

Where is everyone else?

Mara--Sounds like your Vegas trip was excellent as always! I'm impressing with your gaming skills! What games do you guys play? I don't play anything but slots, but pretty much its because I don't know how to play anything and I'm intimidated by it! Mike plays blackjack.

I'm disappointed to hear that the Terrazza Garden has changed its name. The Venus Garden doesn't sound as pretty :) It will always be Terrazza to me!

My favorite game is blackjack. I'm a strict basic strategy player and have taken the time to learn the chart. There are still some plays that I question, but for the most part, I know what to do. Thewizardofodds.com is a great place to learn how to play. They have a tutorial. I also like to play craps. It's loud, interactive, and fun. I play slots for the amusement value of the video games. Let it Ride and 3 card poker are fun, but the odds aren't that great, so I don't play them as often.

I really ENJOY playing blackjack. Even if I'm not winning I think it's fun. (Though at lot more fun when I'm making money!:eyebrows: ) Mark and I always go to have a good time, win or not.

Terrazza Garden will always be it's name to me too! Venus Garden sounds like a strip club to me!!!

At the time, I didn't really enjoy planning the wedding and trip, because I've never had to plan anything before, and was really worried something would be terrible and it would be all my fault. Now I'm looking for reasons to plan a trip again, because it was so fun once it happened. :) Do you have any particular questions?

Thanks for the offer, Kylie.
I'm thinking of hosting a welcome dinner/drinks the night before the wedding since there won't be a rehearsal dinner. Did anybody else do this? I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay for everyone to eat and/or drink so I was just thinking of telling everybody to meet up with us at a bar at a certain time if they won't to join us. Anybody do anything similar?

We did what turned out to be a big party the night before for everyone in a suite at Caesars. Our original intention was to have an open house type thing for people to drop in at their leisure, but it turned into a big party with food and everyone stayed the entire time. It was a great time to get together with everyone. It was also the first time my parents met his, etc.

There are plenty of places that you could have an informal get together where people pay their own way. Do you have any areas in mind?

I was thinking of Nine Fine Irishmen since his mom's family and my dad's family are very boastful of their Irish heritage. My mom has no family and his dad's Mexican/English side would just have to deal!

Hey ladies!! I'm getting married in Vegas too! Feb. 29, 2008. We're heading out to check out chapels in April. Anyone get married at TI? We're looking their first, then a few other places.

Thanks!

I did get married at TI. We loved every minute of it and they were SO good to us. I have some pictures that I can post, but I have my journal in hiding at the moment. :D

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! :)

ETA: Here's the best pic I could find of the chapel. Honestly when I first saw it online, I hated the colours, and even in pics it's not that flattering, but it looks much better in person.

Awesome thanks!! We're heading out in April to check out the hotel ... I'm pretty sure we're going to go with TI. The package just seems to have exactly what we're looking for and not a ton of extra stuff we don't need.

Jess :)

That's why we went with it. We got everything we needed. The robes are awesome and the breakfast in bed was to die for! For some reason we ended up with like 4 bottles of champagne and it's pretty good. :heee:

My wedding coordinator was Jennifer Palamores and our minister was Nathan (and Elvis ). Our photographer was Katie.

They were all soooo nice to us. We couldn't have had a better staff working with us.

I have a question for all you Vegas Brides!

My FH and I finally got to talking yesterday about having a welcome dinner the night before the wedding. The only place we agree on is Tao at the Venetian. I've looked at the website and menu, but does anybody have their own personal reviews or any pictures to share? Thanks!

VegasBride2008

Yeah, the photos aren't anything special I guess, but I'm really hoping that when we see it we'll fall in love with it. I'm actually thinking of getting a suite at the Platinum (depending on how we like it when we stay there on our trip in April) and having a little cocktail reception there after the ceremony. We're on a pretty tight budget. We've got about 40 people coming (as of right now :hehe: )

Thanks for the pic! I'm really looking forward to getting out there and checking it out.
