I spent almost ALL DAY yesterday, making and decorating my cake-shaped card box. And let me tell you, it was a bit harder and bigger pain than I thought it was going to be!!! BUT it turned out absolutely beautiful!!
Here was my inspiration:

And this is mine:

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out!!! All I have left to do is to put our last initial on the middle tier, in rhinestones. (Directions to make the box are below.)
I had plenty of ribbon left over from my box, so I decided to try my hand at making bows, for pewbows...and I have to say, I did not do too bad! So I made 4 of them, and if I need more, I still have more ribbon to make them!

IF anyone is interested, here are instructions and my steps in making MY box:
1. Collect 3 circular hat boxes (or square if you want) in graduated sizes, making SURE the top one will be wide enough to place cards through a slot!
2. Spray paint all the boxes and the lid to the largest box with white FLAT spray paint (or any color of your choosing).

3. Using a box cutter and/or exacto knife (I used both), cut round holes in to the largest and middle boxes, just inside the rims of the boxes that will be places on them.

4. Glue middle box onto large box (I used hotglue, which works well but you have to work fast because it dries fast). I glued this one on by placing it on the large box, and reaching in through the hole to glue from the inside.
5. Cut a slot into the top, smallest box using boxcutter and/or exacto knife. Using 1.5 in ribbon, lay a piece across the slot, folding in the ends to make a nice edge, and glue down. For the actual slot...I cut a slit into the ribbon the length of the slot, and then used more ribbon, the length of the inside of the slot, one on each side, and place half a ribbon on one side of the slot, folding it inside and under, and the same on the other side, glueing both on top and inside.

6. Glue the smallest box onto the middle box, by placing hotglue along the very rim. For me, the hot glue cooled mostly before I got it all done, so there was one side not glued down. (But that was okay, cause I fixed it in the next step.)

7. Using hotglue, run a small line around the bottom edge of each tier, to attatch ribbon (which also seals the smallest box to the middle box) around the edge of each box. I did this in small sections of about 2 inches at a time. When you get all the way around, fold the end of the ribbon under, to make a nice clean edge. I did not need to do the top edge of the ribbon, as we had made sure the ribbon was tight, and was help fine by only the bottom edge of glue.

8. Using a measuring tape, I measured the circumference of the smallets box, and marked a spot every 3 inches. I did the same for the largest box, only marking every 4 inches.
9. Then, using 3mm white pearl cording, I draped the pearls at each 3 and 4 in mark, attatching them with hotglue.

(Imagine with no roses.)
10. Using small white ribbon roses (and hot glue to attatch them) I place a rose at each point of the draped pearls, and also one on each side of the slot on the top.

I had holes in my boxes, where there had been strings to carry them by, so I had put roses into those holes to cover them also, so that is the extra roses you see in the picture.
