The USPS has requested an increase from 39 to 42 cents for a standard letter, and a decrease from 24 to 17 cents for each additional ounce. (Most wedding invitations are either 2 ounces or must include the surcharge for oversized or square envelopes. So the usual wedding invite postage would actually decrease from 63 cents to 59!)

That's good news for us though! :jump4joy:

I wish they'd change it sooner. That'll be a couple weeks after our invites go out but before they have to be back. We'r eoignt o go with the 39 cent ones and hope it encourages people to send them back sooner.

Woo!

Ours are going out Monday (hopefully, if not middle of next week), and my RSVP's are due back before then, *phew* since they'll be stamped with the 39 cent ones -- we bought the wedding duo set since they're so close to my colors! I'm so excited the outer envelope stamp is green! :jump4joy:

I read somewhere that they're going to come out with a "forever" stamp that you can use no matter if there's an increase or not.

Our rsvp's are due before then. But my shower will probably be May 12th. I guess I'll have the extra 2 cents per gift for the thank you's!

I also read about the "forever" stamp. Say you by is on May 14th for 41 cents. Say sometime in 2008, the price of stamp goes up to 45 cents. You can still use the forever stamp that you bought for 41 cents the year before. However, if you need to buy more, you'll be buying them at the new rate of 45 cents. It's a neat program. I'll be buying hundreds of them when they first come out! HA!

Good to remember! I didn't even know about this until I read it on here.

Of course postage is going up before we have to send ours out...oh well, at least it's only 2 cents. It could be worse right?

Wow, that stinks! Who knows what it will be up to by the time I have to send mine out!!!
