View Full Version : BM dress as a party dress?

Would any of you consider buying a bm dress as a party dress? I never find dresses I love off the rack (well, rarely) and the prices are a little ridiculous. I'm graduating soon and have other parties to attend coming up and am thinking back to all the pretty, resonably priced dresses I tried on while shopping for bm dresses. What do you think? Am I nuts? I particularly thought these two from Eden would make good party dresses.

I would! I keep looking at my MOH's dress wishing it fit so I could wear it to Sara's wedding :lol:

I love both of those!!

I think that some of them (particularly the tea length ones) would work great as a party dress!

It definitely depends on the style of the dress, IMO. Both that you posted would be perfect for party dresses. :)

I've worn both of my bridesmaids dresses after the weddings. :}

The main problem w/ buying a bridesmaid dress specifically as a party dress is that they're really not meant to be worn more than once... ie, the workmanship is really pretty sub-par, & things start to fall apart pretty quickly. If you're handy w/ sewing, then unraveling seams & other minor problems shouldn't be much of a concern... but personally, I'd rather not pay $100+ on a dress that I'm likely to have to mend almost immediately.

Of course, if you can find a bridesmaid dress you like on sale, then that'd be super! ;D

Alice, I guess I never realized that. I've only worn one bm dress ever (bm twice, but one dress was otr from banana) and it was so expensive that the workmanship was excellent. I'll have to look closely if I plan to order any dresses. :)

Here are a couple more, from David's. Has anyone tried these on?

I love the Brown one...I just wore a BM dress to a wedding last weekend and am probably going to be wearing one to Sara's this weekend! I think a lot of the BM dresses can be party/wedding/cocktail dresses...GO FOR IT! :)

Oh heck yeah, there are some super cute BM dresses out there that are perfect for parties. Especially since so many of them are tea length now, I love that.

I would totally do it. I'm thinking about possibly buying one for my bridal shower and I'm just probably going to buy a BM dress. I really love the 2 dresses you posted.

Good news, ladies! The dresses I posted first are only $88 and $77 on Netbride. I got a quote for this one too (http://www.watters.com/product.php?coll=wtoo&showid=269), it's $131, from Watters Too. Have you seen any other dresses that would work for a party dress?
