Hi i just got a quote for a Dj. It is for 5 hours and is 775.00 and if we want to add lighting its an extra 75.00. Oh and an extra 100.00 per hour we go over the 5 hours. I was just wondering if that seems like alot for a DJ?

Alomst all of the places we looked offered 4 hours for $600 (that seems to be the standard here). And $75-100 for each extra hour. We're paying a bit more than that because I insisted on going with someone I'd heard was extra good.
I've never heard of a DJ charging extra for lighting, that makes me a little suspicious. My DJ now charges $700 for four or five hours.

Some of the cheaper places here charged extra for lighting. But do you really need the DJ's lighting?

The lighting is floor lighting and its like Club lighting without the strobes and it is music activated. We havnt decided on that place yet just got a quote. The lighting sounded cool. Everything around here is really expensive.

We paid 700 for the DJ- that includes the lighting you're talking about, props, MC'ing, reception and ceremony music. Total time we'll have him is 6 1/2 hours.
Alot of the pricing depends on the area you live in, the amount of time you need them for, and what you want from them. What area are you from?

Here in CA, we paid $995 for 5 hours, not including the hour to set up which was free and it was an additional $100 per hour.

im in Rhode Island. I know there is a couple cheaper than that like 400 -500 for 6 - 8 hours but ive heard bad things about them. Like the one that did my FSIL's wedding in November. They messed up the father daughter dance it ended up being a brake up song, they wouldnt play any requests, They wouldnt play a Grandfather Grandaughter song witch my PAPA(jons grandfather) really wanted. It was just bad. I am so affraid that something is going to go wrong.

We paid about $700 for.....let's see........6 hours? And we didn't have any lighting or anything. I went as cheap as I could, and we had an absolutely awesome DJ. One of the best I've ever heard at any wedding we've been to.

Seems like the going rate...we paid 625 for 5 hours and have the use of regular lights and wireless microphones for toasts and all!

Wow I must have gotten a pretty good deal on my DJ! or else it's just not as expensive here. I paid $400 for 5 hours, if we need more we will need to pay an extra $100 per hour, I think...and I believe everything is included, lights, MC, mics, etc. He normally does charge $100 per hour, but was running a special of buying 4 hours, get one free. Ours is even part of the Better Business Bureau, and has many DJs...big advertiser and is pretty good.
Maybe you can ask if the DJs ever run any one time/yearly specials, and you can get a deal?

Prices definitely vary on where you live!
We paid $500 for 8 hours and it included set up the day before, lights, extra mics, any request and dinner music. He was great!

Because we got married on a Friday he threw the lighting in for free. I believe we paid about $600 and they were AWESOME!!! He did not play any of the standard "wedding" music like "YMCA". We had a lot of compliments on our DJ.

I've been looking around somemore and most places are 600 or 700 for 5 hours and then they want like 150 for lighting. Im checking out one that is on the BBB's website and then if thats the same ill just go with Extreme Soundz Dj. Thanks for the Help:heee:
