I'm in need of a new flat iron because mine is getting old. I know the Chi ones are expensive but I've heard good things about them too. I use it almost every day so I'm willing to spend more money. Is it worth it?

YES. 150% yes. I love, love, love my CHI -- I have had it for almost 5 years (well, newer ones because they're guaranteed as long as you don't wrap the cord around the iron part -- though now I think they have it where you pay $15 and they send a new one, not sure). We go everywhere together -- Michael always asks me if I've packed CHI, because he knows how bad it would be were I not to have it!

It's awesome. I have the regular CHI, but I've heard the new turbo is good as well :)

LOVE IT. Worth every penny IMO.

I've had my Chi for about 2 years now, and it's honestly the best straightener I've ever owned. Like Ashley said, it's worth every penny.

Does it matter which CHI you get? I decided to look at them too and there are so many...

Awesome, thanks Christa! Did you buy it from amazon? :) I want one now too! I have always had problems with other straighteners not working. I have a mild wave to my hair and it tends to get frizzy.

Yeah, I actually just ordered it tonight and I'm really excited to get it. I have wavy hair and I don't know what I'd do without a flat iron!

Yeah! I am excited for you. I think I am going to get one...not just yet though. Hopefully next month! I am excited to be able to actually get a good result with a straightener!!

Thanks!

I've seen these and can't wait to hear how it works for you. You might convince me enough to get one myself!

The BEST thing ever invented! :laugh3: I got mine almost a year ago and I LOVE it! I have naturally curly hair but I prefer to wear it straight. I dry it as straight as I can get it and then use the chi. It takes frizz out and any wave you may have. I swear by this thing. Its defintely worth every penny! I think I have the turbo one.

I have a hot tools iron and it works really good! Just as good as my best friends CHI - she actually uses mine sometime because the plates on it are smooth :dontknow: It was just about $15 less than hers but it works just as well :)

I saw them at Target today for $120.
Or you can order one like I did (2007 model) for $20 on ebay.

I use a flat iron, but have a lot of breakage up near my bangs (cause that's where I use it the most), do any of you that have a CHI have issues with that?

Hello! Christa, did you get your Chi yet?

Christa

Yes, I got in on Saturday. I wanted to try it out for a few days before posting about it. So far I'm loving it! It seems to straighten my hair better than my old one and my hair stays straight all day! With my other one the wave would start to get back in my hair halfway through the day. I'd totally recommend buying one

Can you go from completely wet hair to straight dry hair with just the Chi? I get compliments everytime I straighten my hair but it takes so long to dry it first, then straighten. I am afraid that he will call me into his office, tell me he likes my hair and then fire me for being late so much. :giggle:

Diane,
I have naturally curly hair which takes forever to dry out straight. With the chi....I will just dry my hair out as quickly as I can. Still pulling it straight with a brush while drying...but not worrying so much as getting it straight as dry. So it will be kinda wavy and then I'll use the chi to get it completely straight. It has cut down on my drying time by a lot!! Most of the time I let my hair almost air dry..then finish drying the the blow dryer and straighten it out with the Chi. It's GREAT!!!

I just dry my hair quickly then straighten it with the CHI.

Mrs. G -- are you putting anything on your hair before you dry it and then CHI it? It may be that you're not using something to protect your hair from the flat iron. I use biosilk stuff (can't think of the name, but it's like an oil, I'll look and share) and it works really well. My mom gets everything at the cost from the actual salon store (mom's friend owns the salon, LOL) so I don't know how much it is normally (I would guess like, $16 bucks but it lasts a LONG time), but I know eBay is AWESOME for hair products. I got Michael's TeaTree shampoo there cheaper than I would have through Paul Mitchell!

Ashley, I don't have a CHI yet, maybe that's a reason. I do use products to protect my hair before using my flat iron, including the biosilk; I also like the Brocato's miracle repair mousse. I like to alternate between products. :)

Hrm. I dunno, I haven't had that problem. I have to use a lot of conditioner though, because my hair does dry out a bit (that and highlighting it but YAY for going brunette after the wedding!)

That's cool! :)

Well, I've had my flat iron for a while and will probably need to be replaced soon. So I'll get a Chi next time, maybe that will help. :D

Maybe! Maybe your current iron doesn't get hot enough so you hold it in the front too long? I don't know, LOL! I'm sure you still look as gorgeous as ever though :)
