Its A Beautiful Day - Nikki & Scotts Wedding Day Adventure - March 30th, 2007

First off I am a little scared to start this. I never thought in a million years that my turn would come where I could share with you all lovely ladies my wedding story. As well as what lead up to the wedding day and a little bit about after the day after.

I'll jump right in and fill you all in on Thursday, March 29th.

The night before I decided that I wasn't going to work out that morning. I thought why not take a few days off. And thats what I did. Thursday morning didn't start off to bad. Mom and I had our nail appointments starting at 10am. I got up got showered got dressed and got ready for the day. It was great. I was running a little late, cause I needed to go and get Scott and the guys tuxes that morning. I made sure that I was gone right at 9am. Scott kept phoning me to see what I was doing. I picked the tux's up and brought them home. Hung them up in the computer room. I was curious to see what they looked liked. So I took a peek. I of course the day before my wedding started to....you guessed it....:sappy: up. It felt so real.

Then I had to get some things into the car and head to pick up mom. Of course the day before it snowed and then add freezing rain to the picture and the car was covered in snow that was frozen. My mom called like 2 times to see where I was. I was getting frustrated cause everytime I turned around the dam cell phone was ringing. Finally I made it to pick mom up and went into the house and just wanted to sit. I had been going since before 8am that morning. We then took off to get our nails done.

Did you notice that we are wearing our Bride and Maid of Honor shirts that I made???

We started at 10am and got out of there around noon. Which was good.

We then meet my dad and brothers for lunch. Which did put us behind my schedule but in all honesty I didn't really care. We had a really good lunch and chatted and laughed. Then we left to go decorate.

After eating we headed to the hall to start decorating. As we were driving there I realized that I needed to make 2 phone calls. I needed to call a man about some decorations that he had that I wanted to use. And to call Mark our photographer to let him know that we were there and he could start bringing the archway and what not. I am standing outside the hall making these calls while we wait for my dad to come to let us in.

Dad showed up and we went in. That morning dad and my one brother took in all my decorations. So when we got there we could start decorating. And that is what we did.

At about 2:30 my younger brother Cory and I headed over to get some decorations that this one guy had. We got there and had to wait. When Bruce came we got some trees with lights on them, and some pilliars. Which you can see in the below pictures.

Then Mark showed up with the archway and set that up. He found out that we weren't having a rehursal so he stayed and took some pictures of us decorating. Which I won't see till the end of this week.

But after only about 3 hours we got done decorating. I loved how everything looked. I looked better then I thought it would.

After the decorating was done we all left and I headed home. The wedding party was going to meet at our place and have something to eat and just bs and have a good time.

When I came into the house I came on MLW and gave you all a update. Which by the way I knew that they were waiting for.

Thursday night was a great time. Scott was late but thats ok. It was his birthday so he was aloud. His sister was pissed off that he was late. Scott is always late for everything, so it doesn't bother me anymore. Thats why I tell him earlier so that he is on time. Good thinking hey. You all can use that trick if your man is always late.

I have pictures from Thursday night but they are all dark and no good.

Thursday night after everyone left. I hinted at them to leave. I was tired. I had been going since 8am, and I just wanted to sleep. It was hard to fall asleep. But somehow I did it. I don't think I got that many hours of sleep, but enough that I was feeling great the next morning.

I woke up at about 7:45 am to let the one dog out and I couldn't fall back to sleep again. So I stayed up and watched Scott sleep for a little while.

I then got up and had a shower and got ready. I couldn't wear any makeup or anything on my face. Which isn't fair. I hate going out in public without anything on my face. But I did. I picked up my mom and we took off.

We got there shortly after 10am and Michelled was waiting for us already. Mom was first to get her makeup on and at the same time Michelle was getting her hair done. At this time the photogrpaher came in and started taking pictures. I was walking around making people laugh and watching everything. Also taking photos with my camera. When mom was done with her makeup she waited till Michelle was done. Then they switched. Michelle getting her makeup done and mom getting her hair done. I was getting kind of bored cause I wanted something to do. So they were both then done. Then it was my turn. I hoped into the chair and she started on my hair. Which seem to take a little longer then the trial, but it looked way better. After the hair we then went to makeup and got that done. Then back to the chair so she could put on the veil. Then we were done. The photgrapher said he was leaving to have lunch then heading over to my parents place. We then started to leave and he was waiting outside for us and took some pictures of us leaving.

At that time I ran into Scott's brother the bestman and his tux didn't fit. The pants weren't finished, the white shirt was to small and the tux jacket was to short. Not looking good for him at that point.

We hoped into my little truck and headed over to my parents place for something to eat. Which by that time it was after lunch time and we all were hungry. We ate some fries and burgers. Which were good. And I am glad that I ate when I did. Cause later on in the day before supper sometime I was getting really hungry.

We ate and then Mark showed up to take some photos. We opted not to have him come in and get some pictures of me getting ready. It was a small space and I wasn't really comfortable with him being in there with a camera.

After about 15 minutes of pictures in the house we started to get ready for leaving to the hall. It was just before 2pm. We were on schedule.

We arrived at the hall and we started taking some bridal party photos. Then he started just taking some of me. Which was fun. I kept telling him that after watching 7 seasons of America's Top Model I can posed like crazy. He thought that was funny and so did everyone else.:laugh3:

Then my family started coming in. All my aunts and uncles and what not. We took pictures for about 45 minutes till we were all done. Then we just stood around and waited to see what time the boys were going to show up for thier photos.

While waiting Michelle said that the girls at the office were she works, and at one time I worked wanted to see my dress. So we hicked up the dress and headed outside. We got a few honks of the horns. Mark said that he got a few shots of us.

We made it back only to be put in the bathroom while Scott and the guys were getting thier pictures taken. Which only took about 15 - 20 minutes. Then they left. I think that they left cause Scott didn't want us to be in the bathroom for a hour or so.

It was a bunch of waiting. And we said that as soon as the first people come in we will go into the bathroom. And no sooner did we say that then my godparents come walking in. We huged they thought I looked stunning. It was great to see them again. They did find us at the salon and stopped in for a visit. Which was nice to see. So we headed off to the bathroom. Were we sat and talked.

SO while we were in there we could people coming in. I could Scott saying hi to everyone. It was great to see that he wasn't shy.

Then it was time to get serious. But not before we each made a trip to the toilet. Michelle and mom were more nervous then I was. It was funny.

We did our makeup touch ups and got our flowers all ready to go. We were ready. We went out into the hall. And the boys started to walk up to the front. Then we were back in the hall awaiting the music to start. Next thing we know everyone was laughing and out JOP Shanna comes to the back and says that first song on the disc that you are walking to isn't on the disc. I kind of panic, and said to just have him play the next song. So she left.

I was dancing around trying to keep people from being so serious. Which didn't help at all. Then the song plays. And the song was "Beautiful Day" by U2. And it fit really well. Michelle started walking first then mom and we were watching to see when she got to the pillars then we started to walk. All I could think about was how pretty everything looked and I loved seeing all the people that were friends and family there. I almost started to cry when we got close to the start of the aisle. But I held it together. My dad and I made it to the front. I gave my flowers to my mom and the stood there with Scott. Shanna started in on the ceremony.

And here is how the ceremony went.

Family and Friends, welcome to a very special celebration - a celebration of the love shared with Scott (last name here) and Nikki (last name here), a celebration that will join these two people in the lifelong commitment of marriage. Be sincerely interested in each other's happiness. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us on this day of your marriage.

My dad said" Her mother and I" then she seated everyone.

Before you Scott and Nikki are joined in marriage in my presence of these you family and friends, I am to remind you of the serious and binding nature of the relationship you are now about to enter.

If any person can show just and sufficient reason why Scott and Nikki may not be joined in matrimony let them now declare their reason or else from this time forward keep their piece.

At which this time Scott thought it would be funny to point someone out and tell them to keep quiet. It was funny. Cause everyone was so serious at this point. And Scott and I kept looking at each other and making faces.

I shall now invite you to make your marriage vows. Please join hands and repeat with me.

I Scott affirm my love to you Nikki as I invite you to share my life. I promise to respect your needs. I will endeavor through kindness, unselfishness and truct, to realize the time we now look forwad to.

Scott and Nikki as you have consented together to be husband and wife, and have declared your intention before your family and friends and in my presence, and have exchanged these rings as the pledge of your vows tro each other, and as in the joining of your hands you have accepted on another, but the authority vested in me by the Saskatchewan Marriage Act, I Shanna (last name here), a marriage commissioner, pronounce you to be husband and wife.

We then walked up the aisle to the same song that I walked down the aisle to. Headed over to the bar where we had to sign the registry. And then did a receiving line and everyone left.

After we got done with people congradualting us the wedding party and the photographer took off to the fire station for some more pictures.

It was fun. The sun was shinning and everything. We took about 20 pictures there. At that time my dress was getting dirty cause my MAOH wasn't doing her job right. Naughty naughty.

After that we left for a ride around town. Where Mark got some ring pictures and some pictures of us kissing and what not. We had a great time.

We got back to the hall and then took some more wedding party pictures. And some family ones as well.

During this time Scott and them had left. So Michelle and I went to see where they went. We walked across the street to the local bar, and there you have it. One long table of family and friends at the bar. And here I come in, in my wedding dress. How classy is that. It was great fun.

We then all left to go back to the hall to get ready for some supper. Which at this time I was getting hungry. The bar was open and people were getting drinks. And then the supper was being put out. And then it was 7 o'clock and Scott and went up to the mic and told everyone to seat down cause we were going to start supper. We of course were the first ones up there. The meal was great and I ate to much food period. All that hard work working out just to pig out on supper. The dessert was great as well. Scott and I went and thanked the caterer and his crew for a great meal. Cause it was great. Then a little later on Scott got everyone to applude the caterer for a great meal.

After that it was on with the party.

We did our first dance. Which was great. Then my dad and I did our dance. And at that point mom started to cry. She had been doing great till that moment when the song started to play. It was kind of funny, but we knew she was going to cry sometime. It was just a matter of when.

After that we did the bouquet toss. Some little girl got it. I was kind of mad about that cause not all the single ladies in the house were up there. Mostly young girls. Oh well it was funny.

We never did the garter toss. Scott wasn't feeling that. Which was fine. I get to keep to them both. I don't mind, they are mickey mouse. Kathy you would like them.

We danced we visited we had fun. It was great.

We never left the hall till 1:30pm. Scott was feeling pretty good. I was just tired and wanted to go to bed.

All night people kept telling me how pretty I looked and that everything looked great. I never got kissed on the cheek so many times before.

We left and came home. Got into the house. I had to take down my hair. 40 some bobby pins in there. Then I had to wash my hair cause it stunk from hair spray. Then wash my face and then wash my feet cause they were black. I never wore my white heels. I wore my blue and white flip flops that I bought a few days before hand. They were comfy which was great.

My dress is so dirty right now its not funny. The bottom is like black. I will have to take some photos for you all.

We got to sleep about 3am, only to wake up at 8am ish to start getting ready to go to the hall to help undecorate, and open our gifts.

When we did get there, everything was pretty much done. They just needed to know what I wanted to do with some things. We got that all done up, and then say around and ate some meat from the meat trays, had some drinks.

We only opened the gifts that were there. Which was great. We got some nice things.

Our photographer stopped in to get his arch and gave Scott and I a sample picture that he printed off. Which I was so happy with. Everyone loved it. It almost made me cry....I said almost.

Well ladies thats it. Thats my story. It was a great day. I loved every minute of it. I wouldn't change a thing. Nothing went majorly wrong. That song did bug me, but when walking to the other song it was great too.


For some reason my scanner isn't working so I have to see whats going on with that. But I will be adding pictures so please look back from time to time to see what I have. I will post what I have from my camera.

Hey ladies I just found a close up of the cake. I agree, I think the cake lady did a great job. I was so happy to see what it looked like when I walked into the hall to start getting pictures taken.

So far thats about as close up of a picture that I have.


The reason why I was so calm. I think cause I had everything done ahead of time. I never left anything to the last minute. I wasn't afraid to delegate. The day of my wedding I got my hair and makeup done...and just relaxed. My brothers and dad did a lot of the running around Thursday and Friday. So I guess my advice would be DELEGATE DELEGATE and DELEGATE. It makes your life less stressful.

Beth thanks for the kind words with how I looked. I felt hot and beautiful.

Jenny I loved how 2 years of planning went well and nothing went wrong. I can't wait either for the pro pics. I talked to him yesterday and he got a phone call for work and had to do that. So I have to wait a few more days till I get them. But thats fine. I never paid for them so I can't complain about that.

Any advice for other brides in regards to disposable cameras???....not really, we had more adults there then kids. Sure kids were running around with the cameras and everything. I think it was just the age group that we had. And most parents kept their kids under control with the cameras.

:wow: thats sooo gross, but to be very expected :) When I was in the wedding two summers ago and the dress had the train on it, even tho I had it bustled anytime, other then when we were POSING for a picture, it still got sooo gross

Mine might not have gotten as bad, but it seemed that everytime my bustle was done up and I sat down it came undone. I wasn't inpressed with that. I thought it would of been better then that. I will tell people to stay clear from hooks and eyes for their bustle.

Lacy thanks I also thought the cake turned out great. A lot of people loved that idea. It was different from the cup cake tree stand thing, and different from the traditional wedding cake.


Its great cause we are showing people some pictures that we took and they all loved my dress. They loved that it had a splash of color on it and it was different. It was like I was a first time bride having color on my dress. It was great to hear all the nice things that people said about the wedding itself, the decorations and how they all had a great time. Makes me happy that I spent so much time on planning everything.

I talked to my photographer. I meeting with him tomorrow at one to get my wedding picture disc. Can't wait. My mom changed her lunch so she could come with me. He said we could come tonight but he has to finish painting a room for his job. I told him that was no problem, I could wait one more day. I can't wait. I got so excited that I went out and bought a photo album and some stickers and what not to make it look pretty. Can't wait. So hopefully by tomorrow night you all will be seeing my pro wedding pics. :jump4joy:

Basia it wasn't really that cold out. The sun was shinning. That was the nicest day that we had all "spring". The day after is snowed and got cold. Our wedding day was nice. And I was so happy and pumped up from getting married if it would of been cold I wouldn't of noticed.

Raychel I posted flower inspiration pics, but nothing like what I had. I wanted calla lillies, and wanted them to be blue, but could never find what I wanted. I think I combined about 3 pictures to make mine look like that. I am glad that you like it.

Kathy the veil blowing in the face, is actully someone holding the veil. The photographer just thought the light was just right and had I think it was my bm hold the veil. It is a great pic though.

Thanks Rebecca and MrsRea, I felt beautiful. I hope that one day I can feel like that all over again. Sure we all have pretty days, but I want the full experience again. I miss planning, I miss waiting, and I miss everything else that had to do with the wedding. I am kind of lost with nothing to do. I need to find a hobby.

Thanks so much. I can't really say that I didn't have my doubts about pulling the blue theme off, cause I went with different shades. But I am glad that things came together.
