It looks like I'm going to be doing my own makeup for my wedding and I'm a little nervous about it. They don't do makeup where I'm getting my hair done and I don't want to be driving all over the place on the morning of my wedding. Anybody have any tips to make my makeup look good?

go somewhere where they can do your makeup for a small fee (like a mac store or macy's) and pay attention to what kind of makeup they use and how they use it. . . and i would recomend A LOT of practice. . . thats how i did my makeup for my jr. prom and it turned out pretty good

Do you have a friend/BM that can do your makeup for you? My MOH ended up doing mine and it worked out great (since I totally suck at applying makeup!).

How much makeup do you normally wear? Something that was really important to me on my wedding day was looking natural, since that's the way I typically do my makeup on a day to day basis. I didn't want to look totally unlike myself on the big day.

Good luck!

Many specialty stores such as MAC will TEACH you how to do your make up if you buy the product from there. Also, I strongly recommend getting books from authors like Bobbi Brown. They will give you many hints and techniques.

Christa, I may be doing my own as well. I could get it done at the same place I'm getting my hair done...but since I won't be able to have a trial I'm a little worried about it. I was actually thinking of going to Clinique or Mac and having the makeup trial thing done. So they could give me some tips....and then just messing around and seeing what I like.

I'm doing my own makeup also. Does anyone have experience having the ladies at Sephora do their makeup? There are a couple products I want to try their, and I wasn't sure if the gals who work there were trained the same as the MAC people.
My only suggestion is to get the stuff you want to use and practice before the wedding! I don't know how to do my own makeup very well, so the things I want to learn are how to apply liquid eyeliner, how to get mascara to not clump or rub off, and how to apply blush. If you go to the makeup counter knowing what you need to learn, I think that would help! Good luck & let us know how it goes.

I think I'll try to go a makeup counter in a couple of weekends and see if they can help me

:bump:

i really want to do my own makeup, as i know what i like and can apply fine for it to show up in pictures if i can focus on doing it. i have done it for 3 weddings i was in and for two of them it looks awesome and i love how i look (the one i love less we were really behind schedule so i couldn't really focus on my makeup). i'm totally up for going to sephora (or MAC or Clinique) to get some more heavy duty stuff that will last too...
however, everyone i mention it to tells me that i'll be too stressed, etc to do it myself.

so i'm wondering for anyone who did do it themselves - how'd that work out for you?

I ended up going to MAC and having them do a trial on me. I bought the products and took a picture of what it looked like after they did it. Then I practiced a few times before my wedding day to make sure I felt comfortable doing it. I'm happy with how it turned out.

i'm going to be doing my own make-up or having one one my BM's do it for me. I think i am going to use the products i already have as i know they wont react to my face and i will feel comfortable wearing it.

I'm seriously debating on doing my own. I never wear make-up so i youtubed some how to videos. I am looking for the stuff I need and I am going to be trying it out to see how I like it. If not, I may just pay for it to be done, but ONLY if there is a trial.

I had my makeup done at the salon, and even after we had the trial, I hated it. We got married close to Halloween and one woman at the salon actually asked me if I were an actual bride or if I was going to a halloween party. Not thrilled. So when we got to the site, I redid mine and my sisters. And it looked gorgeous. Thankfully. :)

my friend did my makeup. I wasn't one to wear much prior so she just did some lipgloss/stick and some eyeshadow, I loved it!
