I am trying to remember my wedding day story from when I posted it on UW, but it's not coming to me, so I'll just have to start anew.

Let's see, it was a dark and stormy night...naw, just kidding.

Ok really, here goes.

June 2, my 21st birthday, day of rehearsal dinner, and bachelorette party

Last minute shopping
I, by some miracle didn't have to work this day. Which was good because I was preparing food for the wedding this day, and I spent an hour and a half in wal-mart this day just getting a few things. I remember this clearly. My sister was in town that week (MOH Amanda) and she doesn't have a wal-mart where she lives. So she went a little buck-wild when she went. And we went EVERY day that week. EVERY day I took her shopping, and she spent more money on clothes than anything, But that's a different issue.

Pickin' up the tux
So we got back from Wal-Mart (two minutes away from my house) to pick my fiance (now husband) up from our apt. so my mom and I could go with him to pick up the tux. Since we were two hours behind thanx to my sister, it pushed the rehearsal back. We got there, and it took an hour to get the tux, since he tried it on, but hey, at least it fit, so no worries here. We stopped at a liquor store on the way back, grabbed the hooch for the wedding, and we were back by 4:30. So the rehearsal actually was on schedule, or at least we thought it would be.

Rehearsing
Merak and I made it to the park where the wedding was to be held at about 5, because we had to load up the car with the cd for the ceremony, go to my parents house and find a boombox, and grab supplies for the rehearsal. So we pick up the Best Man and the Maid of Honor, and we make it. Everyone's there waiting on us, and we set up to rehearse, after the original site I wanted to hold the wedding in was vetoed by my mom and MIL. They would rather we had it in a little garden area. Soooooo...ok. We set up in the garden area. Then we plug in the boombox, and....it doesn't work. So we went to get batteries, since we discerned that the outlet wasn't working. We did a walk through, without my flowergirl, and everything was fine, so we left. No biggie.

It's party time!
I had a combination "21st Birthday and Bachelorette Party". It was fun! Just me, my closest friends, and like a gallon of hooch, and of course, good food! I would have taken pictures, but, I was thinking more of the margarita sitting in front of me. It was awesome fun, I tell ya!

Ok, more to come later, but that was the day before the wedding run-down.

Ok, now now the "Big Show"!

Wedding Day: June 3, 2006

I got up at the butt-crack of dawn, literally. At about 5 am, I just couldn't sleep anymore. I got on the internet, surfed for awhile, worked out, and then everybody else staying over woke up.

Amber (little sister, BM) and Alicia (amber's best friend) took me to the nail salon to get my nails done, and then to the hair salon to get my hair in an updo. This lasted until about 11 am, all the while fielding calls from everybody and their dog on various wedding-related subjects.

At about 11:30, my mom came and picked me up, and took me to Cadron Settlement Park, where my wedding was to be held. Not a soul was there, except for me and my mom, along with a whole buncha chairs and tables that needed setting up. My brother and dad showed up, along with Merak (husband) and we set up the ceremony site, and set up the tables for the reception site. Merak, mom and I all decorated the tables in a flash. It's lucky for me that I didn't pick some elaborate centerpiece, just floating gerberas in a rose bowl, with rose petals and confetti sprinkled on the table.

The wedding was supposed to occur at 2:30 pm, but the officiant called and said that he couldn't make it until 4. So we left my aunt (my coordinator, or at least that's what she was SUPPOSED to be) to tell the guests. The last thing I told here was to string the white lights through the trees (never got done) and to hang some fabric from the ceiling of the reception area (never got done). I paid this woman for nothing.

So I went back to my apt. with my MOH and flower girl to get ready. We got ready, and then it was a waiting game. While we were getting ready, my mom and sister had to run home to change into their dresses, and my sister had to shower. This took about an hour, and it was 3:45 (15 minutes before the wedding was to start!) when my mom picked me up! On the way out the door, I grabbed my vows that were sitting on the sofa. And then we were off!

We get there, and everyone is milling around the reception area (ruined the surprise, but oh well) and about 1/2 of them saw me. 30 minutes later (4:30 by my estimation) I took a shot of liquid courage (peppermint schnapps) and headed down the aisle. As I appeared from under my canopy, I realized that MOH hadn't un-bustled my dress. I called out to Amanda, and she ran over and unbustled it, while everyone was looking on.

The music played, the mothers lit the unity candle.

Music changed, and BM's and FG walked.

I waited for the music to change...but it...wait for it....never did!!!

My music changer person totally spaced on my song!

Then the ceremony...which was over lickety-split, so fast I don't remember a thing! It happened so fast, and now we are married!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reception was awesome, I got to visit with family and friends I hadn't seen in a long time, and the food was good, and the cake was delicious. (side note on cake below) We danced, we ate, and we drank to our heart's content. I am soooo glad we are married!

The cake: Was supposed to be a three tier 2 layer cake, with buttercream frosting. The original cake we ordered 2 months in advance, and then picked up the day of the wedding....fell. :hissyfit: That's when I broke down. Luckily, my sister-in-law Laura (also a BM) being the master artist that she is, went to 2 different grocery stores, and found 3 different round cakes of varying size, and redecorated them to look WONDERFUL!!! :jump4joy: I couldn't have asked for a better gift!!!

Merak says his vows to me...and totally winged it! He came up with the most beautiful vows off of the top of his head (although I don't remember half of what he said I was so nervous!) The funny part was people were coming up to him and were saying "way to go on memorizing your vows!" And we would look at each other and bust out laughing!

Hello- so good to see your pictures again :happysigh: Good to see you again..so how is the married life? Got all your name changes etc. done? I was wondering what a pain all that is or if it is pretty easy.

it was actually pretty easy. I took my marriage license and got it signed, and then went right to the DMV and did my driver's license, all in the same day. I then went to the Social Security office, got my SS card changed to my new name. I made a few calls, to insurance co, bank, etc and it was all done!
