BIL just went to Antigua and got hitched, almost like an elopement, although it was planned. They didn't register, because they are older and have everything they need. Also, they are pretty wealthy, so giving them cash would be ridiculous. They said they don't want any gifts, but I don't feel right letting a WEDDING go by without sending a gift of some sort. ANy ideas? I want to stay away from things like gcs or dinners out.

A really nice basket filled with a few quality cheeses, a good bottle of wine and some crackers, grapes, two taper candles and holders etc is always a tasteful gift.

It encourages a nice quiet evening for just the two of them :)

Or you could go the Tiffany route too..(who DOESN'T like Tiffany)

A really nice vase, or glass bowl?

Great ideas, Kari! I was thinking about doing a basket, but the Tiffany box always looks good, doesn't it?

They don't drink...and Tiffany is expensive. LOL! I think if I made a basket for them, it would be fun. Maybe a jar of cookie ingredients, his and hers aprons, some other things?

Oooo, good one!

Or a PASTA themed basket? Dry pasta, a "designer" sauce, a loaf of bread, with garlic spread, the candles would work in it too :)

It is silly but people have loved it.

In powerpoint, I made up a crockpot/breadmaker cookbook for my mom for her B-day. We gave her the crock and bread machine for the previous Christmas. I made it really fun with cool pics that went with the "theme" of the recipe. I put it in one of those 3 ring binders and put the pages in plastic page covers.

SHE LOVED IT!

Not that it would work for your friends though...It was just me taking a walk down memory lane

Or how about a pretty Mikasa picture frame with a little plaque engraved with their names and wedding date?

I love the basket idea too - could do a movie-night basket too - microwave popcorn, popcorn seasoning, dvd's (or blockbuster GC), and a blanket to cuddle under while watching the movie :)
