When Did You Register?

I know that they say that as long as you register before your first shower, that's plenty of time...but how early did everyone register?

Jer and I already started our registries, because we had to be in the store to start them. Now that they're started, we can update/change them all we like online, so that was best for us!

Also, someone mentioned that people might like to choose Christmas/birthday gifts prior to the wedding from the registry as well?!?

We did ours in May and our wedding is in December.
I make changes to it all the time online, and I love looking at all my stuff. We didn't pick anything really seasonal so we haven't had to deal with it going out of stock.

We did ours after we sent save the dates, I think. I think we did it in April for a July wedding (and May shower). No one bought us any gifts for holidays off it, but we did start getting gifts *immediately* which was fun. :) I still look at my Crate&Barrel registry, just in case. :lol:

We registered in November for a July wedding....we knew that people could use it for Christmas gifts (which they did!)

We got engaged in August and registered in November for an August wedding on the insistance of my mother who claimed relatives would want to buy off our registry for Christmas (my parents were the only ones who did). Of course, things did get discontinued, but I don't think it's a huge problem if you don't mind going through and cleaning up your list and removing "dead items" and adding new ones.

We registered in April for a November (started out as a June) wedding. Jim had had emergency surgery and I did the bulk of registering online, then we went to the stores and updated. We will update them again before the wedding.

We got engaged in 2003 and started our registries in 2004, hehe....people HAVE bought birthday/Christmas gifts from them, though, and a lot of staples, like mixers, kitchen gadgets, etc., have not changed since our initial registry 2 years ago. We just added towels, bedding, etc. in March.

We got engaged in February 2006, registered in April 2006 and wedding is 1 month from today!

Everyone has been on our case about doing the registries, so, we are doing them this month.

I know that I should register right smartly like. I have my aunts and uncles asking where are we going to register and when. I am thinking about doing this in the next couple months. Just to get it over and done with. And then maybe just up date it later on. I also have some local shops that I will be registering in for the local guests. And bigger chains for oot guests.

We registered really early. Our original date was October 8, 2005 and we registered the December before that, so we've had registries for over a year and a half right now.

Well we aren't planning on getting married until 2008 but we are having our engagement party in 3 weeks so we registered now. I have a feeling we will be changing a lot of things on there during the next 2 years.

We're registering now because we'll be out of the country for about 9 months between now and the wedding, and it's one less thing to worry about when we get back!

We registered early (I thought). We got married in June 2005, but our first shower was in December 2004 (because that was the only time we'd be in DH's hometown before the wedding). So I think we registered in October 2004.

We registered in late JUNE .. we put our wedding rings on lay a way and registered at the same time at walmart.


Then the first week of July we mailed our first invitations.

We registered a year ahead of time for our wedding because we wanted to include the information in our Save the Dates and we sent those out about a year in advance, mostly on my mother's insistance, because we are having a DW.

We registered at the beginning of September for a January wedding.. soo 4 months ahead of time.
