Christa and Nate's Wedding~June 23, 2007

I had Thursday off from work and I ran all sorts of little errands. I picked up my marriage license, had my rings cleaned, and dropped of my things at our reception site. I still wasn’t really nervous. I hung out with my sister in the afternoon and that night I went out with my MOH and some old friends from high school.

Friday I woke up and went to my mani/pedi appointment. It was so relaxing! The girl that I go to was just married 2 years ago so we just talked about whatever and it really kept me calm. I was there for about 2 ½ hours and then I came up to our apartment to get whatever I was going to need for the wedding and to pick up Nate. By this time I was a little stressed and I was really short with Nate, I’m glad that he understood and didn’t turn it into a fight. We just tried to relax the rest of the afternoon.

Around 5:15 I picked up my MOH, Kallie, and we went to the church. Rehearsal was scheduled to start at 5:45 and surprisingly almost everyone was early. The rehearsal was really stressful… I thought we had everything figured out and my parents were trying to change a lot of stuff. I wanted to walk in to a certain part of Cannon in D but we never did get the figured out (which didn’t matter since I don’t even remember hearing the music as I went down the aisle on my wedding day.) We finally got everything sorted out and were done around 7.

From there we went to our rehearsal dinner at Café Belwah. When we got there both of my sisters and their families were there which was great because I hadn’t seen one of them yet (both of my sisters live in Phoenix.) The food was awesome. We got a private room which was great since there were 6 kids there. At one point we went outside and there was a rainbow which we took as a good sign. It was beautiful. On the way home I had a mini-freak out. Both Nate and my MOH were trying to calm me down.

As soon as I got home I took some sleeping pills and took a shower. I probably fell asleep around 10:30 and I slept through the whole night; I didn’t even have a wedding dream.

Our wedding day!

I woke up at 6:30 to shower and I was ready to go at 7:15 but didn’t have to be there until 8. I went to pick up my MOH and we went to get our hair done. I got my hair done first while my MOH and my mom went to get some breakfast. They went to a bakery and got pastries and my mom brought fruit to the salon. I was really hungry, which I was surprised about. My MOH got her hair done next and I did my make-up. Then my BM, Cara, came and got her hair done and my BM, Rebekah, was the last one to get her hair done.

After we were done with hair we went back to my house and Cara and Rebekah did their make-up. Kallie went back to her house to do her make-up. After all the make-up was done we left to go to the church and we were running about 15 minutes late. On the way there I rode with Kallie and Rebekah and Cara were following us. We were already going like 50 in a 55 mph zone and Rebekah was really far behind us. We ended up losing her and I didn’t have my cell phone or her number so I couldn’t call her. I called Nate and had him give her directions to the church. I was really upset and nervous at this point because we were supposed to be starting pictures soon and we didn’t even have our dresses on yet.

We got to the church and Rebekah and Cara arrived about 10 minutes later and we all got dressed and did our pictures. Then we went back down to our dressing room and the guys did their pictures. I didn’t feel really nervous while doing pictures but I was really hot.

When we were down in our dressing room I started to get really nervous and nauseated. I almost vomited a few times and I regretted eating all of the food earlier. I heard the music start upstairs and I was really freaking out. Then it was time for us to line up. My dad came and got me and I was going to wait until a certain point in the song before I went out but I got too excited and I just wanted to go so we went down the aisle.

I thought for sure that I was going to cry during my wedding but all I could do was smile. The ceremony passed in a blur.

After the ceremony we did our receiving line and the only time I got teary-eyed was when one of my sisters told me that I looked beautiful because I was thinking about how our other sister, Amy, wasn’t there because she died in and accident 11 years ago.

After the receiving line we did pictures, and I wish we would have done more bridal party pictures, but at the time there was just so much going on I wasn’t thinking about it. Then Nate and I left to go to the gardens to do some outdoor pictures.

While we were at the gardens doing our pictures Nate got a call from his best man saying that his wife was really sick and they had to go the ER so unfortunately they missed the reception.

We took pictures at the gardens for about 30 or 40 minutes then we went to the reception. We got there just in time to do have some hors d’oeuvres. We did our cake cutting right away and then had dinner. After dinner we went around and talked to all of our guests and did our dances and just enjoyed ourselves the rest of the night.
